  • The rise of parasitic "woke" storytelling is something many have noticed in movie franchises like Star Wars and several others. We examine the process of inversion and look at possible solutions hidden within that process.

This helps explain why The Force Awakens was so bad. After having just slain the emperor in RotJ and being at the highest point they've ever been, the good guys suddenly come back as "The Resistance" instead of "The Rebellion". People who were victors are now suddenly underdogs again. This under-privileged position is necessary for morality in postmodernism. You cannot be good unless you are oppressed and suffering, since lack of oppression or suffering is privilege and therefore bad.

    • @robertcox14
      @robertcox14 4 роки тому +8

C'mon, a "lack of oppression" upon you, if oppression does continue to exist, means you have some "elite" characteristic that separates you from the "ordinary" life of being oppressed. Cain and Abel are a good myth to describe the oppressor against the oppressed in an eternal struggle. Cain's "oppression", (murdering his brother) was "caused" by Cain, the Oppressor feeling "jealous" of Abel's "better life". Suggesting Cain's emotions were the "problem" while Abel was "oblivious" of any "wrong" on his own part. We don't have to "condemn" people who complain about a "bad lot in life". Using that myth, you can construct your own "ethos" of who deserves what - "Equality" often arises from correct understanding of YOUR flawed emotions, those that YOU know well and should understand. Much more difficult to determine "others" emotions. Work on yours, first.

@@robertcox14 If you are not willing to fight for a better life, you are a coward and deserve to be the trash of society. Life is not fair, Cain and Abel are perfect examples as Abel is highly privileged by God for no reason. Was it just? No. So Cain's murder was justified.
Take what you want by force, because other people are interested in keeping you down for their own benefit.

@@nihilism6226 Possibly, a conversation of Cain telling Abel that he was "unhappy" at his own failure when Abel was doing so well, would have had Abel say, "I'm sorry you're not doing well, how can I help you succeed, because I don't want to see my brother in pain." Dialogue can avoid terrible conflicts arising from simple misunderstandings.

Angelic Kingdom Hieroglyphs yeah, that’s probably because god is everyone at the same time and both past, present and future exist simultaneously to each other. Each cog in the machine is able to move all the others at the same time. Each “Q bit” that moves has actually created a new universe or “new crystalline frame” in existence. We shift through these constantly, and infinitely. All is perception, whether dark or light, selfishness or selflessness. Each has a self organising balancing effect in the energy everywhere at the same time.

It's funny that as a new generation of storytellers start telling Return of the King stories, they will have to be presented, told, and sold in underground shadowy networks, like the raunchy Underground Comix of the 80s. @@Dyrnwyn Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels had an entire romantic subplot that was completely cut from the film at the last minute. A great decision that resulted in a brilliant and classic film. Romantic subplots are the kind of by-the-numbers, design by formula elements that should be thrown out imo. Not everything needs romantic subplots. Although I also liked the Ali G movie approach which split the screen during the romantic moment, with Ali G on one side apologizing to camera for the scene, and explaining that he had to have scenes like that in the film to make women think he is sensitive.

Interestingly I'm reading Oscar Wilde's Picture of Dorian Gray. It starts with all of the witty homoerotic decadence Wilde is famous for, but soon the difference between reality and dream begins to cleave the story's main character in two. So that as Mr. Gray descends, while remaining charming, his portrait becomes more and more hideous, giving us Wilde's own doubts about his own philosophy. There are indeed ways to flip the script. I have often seen that the antidote to postmodern irony is bitter irony. Thanks Jonathan. More thoughts to ponder.

Rather like judo I use the intertia of the argument to carry it through to its conclusion. This is usually enthusing about an absurd end game like dismantling the police force (lawlessness), liberating children from the family unit (orphanages) or abolishing capitalism (private property) - all of which were once on the BLM website 'What we are about' page. When done in front of an audience (with enough feigned enthusiasm) it easily exposes the implication of demolition as an aim in itself.

It's not worth sifting through a mountain of garbage to find something semi-enjoyable, but still has the stench of woke about it. I'm the opposite. I think we're going to see a 2nd Renaissance of the arts towards the end of this decade.
A void is being left by all the major franchises and creators getting hallowed out. People everywhere are demoralized from all the nihilism that has accompanied post modern culture, and many are either tuning out completely or delving into other mediums. As Johnathon hints at towards the end of the video, as the center opens up from all the deconstruction, the silver lining is that, try as they may, the margins can never fully replace the center. They are the margins for a reason. In the end, parasites (the margins, forcefully trying to occupy the center) die without a host and the 'King' (a metaphor for normality, eternal truths) inevitably returns.
Now, more than ever, it's time indie creators to reclaim the arts. For creative people, the next decades will be very opportune for filling the cavities left by post modernism. Hopefully, society will at last learn to kill these ideological parasites so future generations can safeguard themselves, and the arts, against this pattern in the future.

C.S. Lewis referred to an attack on the center as “men without chests” in The Abolition of Man. It does not matter if at the end the SJWs will not have anything more to infect, our cultural icons, entertainment franchises and childhood role models have already been demolished. I do not care why they did it or how they are doing it or what will they destroy next, I want to read a Star Wars Expanded Universe book and not be angry at Disney Star Wars for what they turned the characters into. I want to read a comic book from years ago and not be furious or sad about how those classic characters were deconstructed until I stopped buying new ones. But I am not gonna get that since I have good and long memory and even if I want to ignore the new horrors, I saw them, it happened. It was malicious and pervasive and dissent was viciously silenced. As a paying customer, or even just a human interacting with art, I have a right to be upset.

The thing that irritates me is that a good story, a true story, resonates with us as human beings. We feel like they are right, we feel like they are the way they should be. So the question is: how do so many people, enough to mass produce parasitic stories, break away from that and get this wrong set of stories stuck in their head? What's the point when it all went wrong?

    • @GhostofFranky
      @GhostofFranky 4 роки тому +16

Jonathan talks about the need to self other. Maybe it started with the “you’re special” movement. So everyone starts feeling special and disconnected from the whole therefore it is easy for them to slip into the pattern of “otherness” and without positive reinforcement of positive conformity or at least its articulation, you get a lot of more or less the same type of people believing they are different. As that number of “different” people grow more and more exceptions are made to accommodate (compassion right?) and that creates a sort of destabilization for the “normal” and there’s probably some resentment. Not only that but since the “other” is to be “accommodated” and not “integrated” they never learn assimilation or normative behavior and it kind of perpetuates itself. It’s like you don’t learn proper behavior, you don’t teach proper behavior and as a species maybe that’s a a necessary part of our existence. As you continually reinforce your “otherness” you become increasingly detached from what came before and the desire to tear down and “set right” may increase as well.

@MNI Andes It is the fantasy of the artificial feminine Matrix. Technological and psychological Mother archetype protects one from reality, and pulls one closer to death (release from struggle). It give power without struggles, and "loves" weakness. It can then care you to death. You will be equal, because you will be dead. A lot of people hate reality because it has hierarchy. Basically, you want reality and the people in it to be your Mother and even the field. Corrupted people feed it, so one will willingly give up all their power to Mommy, an Illusion they victimize themselves for. The the corrupt have all your power.

If you dare pry into the honest feelings of most western women you will find it is rare to find one that doesn't rave over Wonder Woman.
The Christian archetype can, and probably has been, pushed too far too.
Women can feel robbed of their agency and opppressed by the idea that their lives are prescribed for them by evolutionary biology. And it is true, not all women are bound to have children and to form pairs with men who look after them.
When confronted with the choice however, it is revealing how many angry feminists don't question their inbuilt hypergamy. Why shouldn't they want a man who is tall and strong with a symetrical face and earns a lot of money - 'it has nothing to do with women being weak and needing a nest in which to have children' - does it!?
Next time your girlfriend takes food from your plate without asking - think about the implicit understanding in that act about your societal status/role versus theirs.

David, Corey, and Andy have all provided perspectives no doubt drawing on life experience. I can contribute what I have spent time and attention looking into: Mary Douglas's Cultural Theory, in particular her group vs grid matrix. Good stories resonate with the feeling of striving for adherence to the attributes of harmonic society, I would suggest. Because this harmony is no longer sought, in fact, it is being systematically opposed/ dismantled/ _____ (fill in the gap), the other three types are becoming increasingly apparent - competition, disassociation, and cult-like behaviour.

    A point on Black Panther.
The villain was portrayed heroically and was martyred. His death was made to inspire young black men in particular to adopt a warriors mindset in order to allow their physical body to be destroyed in pursuit of a revolutionary goal of “racial revenge.”
Oddly enough, in a synchromystical occurrence, the actor who played Black Panther died shortly after the George Floyd riots enflamed.
Now the most popular (and highest grossing) black hero of all time has died and left many black children bereft of a hero, and dare I say, a father figure.
If one does not recognize the mysterious workings of the Creator in these synchronicities then they have not the eyes to see.
The movie usurped the true good hearted hero to inject an evil message. And now the man who personified the hero is dead in reality.
Anyone who uses art to propagate illusion could be considered a “sorcerer.”
Art is meant to spread beauty, inspiration and truth. It is meant to be a continuation of the Creators projection of the Love-Light.
Please continue to shine truth on these deceptions brother.

This is awesome stuff. The depiction of woke ideology as it exists today as parasitic is spot on. Very insightful. But I beg to differ on the comparison with communism, because of one key aspect: it never won the ideological war to become mainstream.
The comparison appeared when you imagined what would happen if woke ideology took over the "host", i.e., the entire culture, so their discourse would become meaningless-therefore they need to never win in order to keep themselves going. This was never actually the case with communism, if you consider the Cold War scenario. Ideological and military threats to communist parties never really disappeared, so the "outside menace" discourse was always true to some extent. This means the official discourse had always two layers of reality: for the one part, it served the purposes of some authoritarian leaders who aimed to keep their citizens at bay by fear mongering; for the other, it was a way to preserve revolutionary achievements against a real threat, since it was partially grounded to reality. (One may even ponder if this is not an intrinsic flaw of the communist revolutions of the 20th century, by the way.) It might be different if communism did actually take over the entire world and the "old perspective" ceased to make sense to people-maybe in this case the "permanent revolution" trope would become meaningless, and leaders would be forced to move on in their discourse.

Cant believe how comfortably you addressed inversionism and the nature of hidden principles of the mass.

There needs to be movies made about a time where movies were made to brainwash the masses and the heroes helped the masses become un-zombified returning to a more balanced enjoyable free world filled with families and community.

Wonder Woman 1984! They tossed the "America Centric" red and blue and replaced it with an all GOLD and WINGED character resembling that of Isis, the Egyptian goddess.

Jonathan, have you had a chance to see some of the videos from a channel called Black Pilled (Devon Stack)? he too has some really tight breakdowns of propaganda on movies from the 1960s 70s, 80s and 90s, which was more sutil than today's propaganda.

I barely watch anything new. Disgusting propaganda, mainstream porn and all round mockery of anything that is sound and common sense.

Jonathan, loved this. One question for you, how can an artist (in my case, painter & writer) create work that is contrary to modernism, but exist in modernity? As you and Deacon have suggested, reading fairytales is one way to go, but at what point would our content become too foreign to modern audience. What do you say to blend ing modernity with medieval to restore Christianity?

Very insightful, I kept wondering why these people would attack things everybody loves, rather than taking the risk of producing something new and try to compete. Thanks Jonathan, any thoughts on this tactic being coordinated or just manifested?
