Congratulations!!! I commend you for following your dream! Especially because you did it without the support of your family. that's the sad part. But at least you still had your friend and her father.
Wow! I'm so proud of you going after your dream. Sad that your parents didn't believed in you but at least you have someone like your friend and her dad believed in you.
I cried a little. I am so happy for you. You accomplished such a big goal and step in life. Makes me want to go search for you and watch your pageant year for your crowning moment. ❤
I’ve listened to many stories but only a few moved me to tears. I was so happy for you I had to take a break to cry. Thank you so much for sharing your story to remind us that we can do anything if we put our mind to it. Also, I’ve realized it’s a generation thing for our parents to talk to us like that but it’s important to use it as motivation to better ourselves. Good job!
Wow!! I love your story! I don’t know why some Hmong parents are like that. They don’t know how damaging their words and actions can cause their children distress, pain and self esteem. But you didn’t give up and use that as a motivation. Thank you for telling your story, so it can be a barrier for others to not give up! ❤
So inspiring!!! I love this story, all you need is faith, a dream, and motivation to get there! You worked hard and earned every bit of victory!!! Thank you for sharing.
I love your story!! You're so amazing for sharing this story, og parents are usually not the best. I know it, but I'm glad you taught everyone a life lesson. People will hate you no matter what you do, so do what you want to do!
This is the toxic Hmong families have. This is why there are so many traumas within our Hmong daughters. Parents only have high hopes for the most beautiful daughter or whatever. And the so called daughters who does not look beautiful in their eyes. Hmoob mas tsuas yog pom daim nqaij daim tawv xwb. Tsis tig ntsia pom lub siab lub ntsws li. thov kom koj niam thiab koj txiv hloov lawm nawb. Im glad you fought for your goals and proved your parents wrong!! Please don't ever forget about your BFF and her parents for supporting you from day one.
So glad you wanted to be in a Hmong beauty pageant. You're probably the first that I know of. More power to you and congratulations on your win. You're right, on paper and in appearance some people may not look or seem to be successful but in reality they are more so than you think. Use this experience to further your career. Not the pageant but your ideology of success. I don't have a bachelor's or master's degree but I have surpass my wildest dreams, probably more so than if I have a master's degree. Thanks for sharing your story.
