Ma Long is playing a lot less aggressive nowadays, that's why he doesn't look as unbeatable as he used to be. He is relying on his tactics a lot more now, so it's all about if his tactics work or not because sheer power is no longer getting it done like it used to because others have more power. Ma Long showing incredible adaptation to the difficulties. Some people said that Lin choked or also that this match is fixed, but strategy and adjustment was the key on this comeback because Lin was playing so good that Ma Long lost his confidence the same way Wang Chuqin did yesterday, but then in the 4th game he changed his playstyle and service which helped him recover the confidence and then play the same way as yesterday that led him to win 4-3, that is why pro matches should be always best of 7 and also that is why Ma Long is again, THE G.O.A.T!!

And Ma Long does not need a meaningless(for him) WC title. If there is any doubt in who gets to play in Paris, it will be decided in some closed matches in Beijing not here.
Lin Gaoyuan wasn't a choker in this game, he just used the same strategy to deal with new Ma Long, so the result is obvious the deja vu like the game with Wang Chuqin
YES! Another great and important title for the GOAT, and he did it by defeating his main enemy WCQ 4-0 and making a comeback from 0-3 again LGY! Fantastic!
Watched table tennis on and off for the past 15 years and it's crazy to see Ma Long perform, adapt, and excel in the changing men's playstyles throughout the years.
This is one of the most crazy comeback I've ever seen for sure. This World Cup title is so important for ML because he is now has a good chance of getting selected for the Olympics and there is hope for a Triple Grand Slam on the line which has never been done by any player ever.
What a legend. Ma Long is beyond any other player in history. At 35 he basically re-invented his playing style in this world cup to beat the new generations and he prevailed. Unbelievable
China should let Ma Long compete in Olympic singles and get a chance for Triple Grand Slam and defend his title (he now has 3 world championships, 3WC, and 2 olympic golds). From this tournament you can see that even though he may not be the strongest or fastest player anymore he is the most adaptive and strategic player. Also, I believe he's the oldest WC winner now
I am afraid they will pick younger guys like FZD and WCQ, i think Ma Long would have to win more tournaments until summer to be considered he is only 4th in the world....
First of all, welcome to the sport. And yes, ma long is indeed a beast, he's the only male player in table tennis history to complete a double career grand slam, he's won by far the most international titles, for example several world champs and now three world cups, he's also won the asian champs 8 times (tt is a sport dominated by asia and especially china), and also the chinese national champs and cup several times. And lastly, he's also the player with the longest time on nr.1 (84 months), and the longest consecutive period on nr. 1 (64 months, from 2015 to 2017), which is also longer than the overall time of any other player. And that streak was only broken because of a change in the ittf point system. After that, he suffered a major injury, but still came back to win the world champs, olympic games, and also some national titles and also open titles. That is why they call him the greatest of all time, and the dictator. By the way, his name literally means dragon in chinese (long), which also fits to his other nickname, the dragon, and the description of a beast. Right now, he's already 35, so he's out of his prime for sure, not being able to move as quickly as before and all that stuff. His prime was prob in 2015, where he won his first world championship. Back then, he was practically unbeatable.
I knew Ma Long would win after 6:02, at the end of the 3rd set I wanted to close the livestream in frustration of him losing after that masterclass against wang chuqin but said that I would be a true ma long fan and stick it out like I was with his losses earlier this year and I am so proud of him for turning on god mode near the end of the 5th set .
Yes exactly right! Lin was all over Ma’s reverse pendulum until he changed. But did the commentators see it. No - they were awful throughout tournament - know nothing about the game. Where was Adam and Riley?
That looked like the strategy. Rather than overpowering LGY, he decides to use angles and block until he gets a chance to counter. It is so disheartening when you blast at your opponent and they just block it with ease.
Yep, a lot of the match, he didn't play his strokes with his legs. The difference in technique and movement after he gets to match point is amazing. That said, the lack of such movement probably made it harder for LGY to read and predict his shots.
It's so rare that we get to see this level of tactical ingenuity and ability to follow through when you do shift gears. Another memorable example is Moregard vs Jonghoin but you don't see it as often as you'd like
Maan, this was one of the best matches I've ever watched. Even from the first game, from points like 4-8 and 5-8 (0:20) it looks like Ma Long is playing a little different, relaxed. The way he came back from 4-8, I felt Ma Long had this match in the bag. But for some reason even at 9-10 in the first 2 sets, he didn't close out like he usually would, still went for the crazy shots. And then it's set 5 he brings out the bh serve but he's down 5-1 and I'm thinking even if Ma loses 4-1, this was one his favourite games to watch for me. To watch him be relaxed and try the different things he wanted to try... Then something happens, suddenly everything he's trying is landing on the table. The flurry of points from 3-6 to 8-6 in set 5 is incredible! Anything he tries it goes. The point at 6:11, you wouldn't swing a bh so recklessly where if each point meant a lot to you. And that's it, Ma Long continues still trying various shots and it all lands and it isn't until 9-6 in the decider that you actually see him get a little tense, cause now he knows he can win. Some people might say that Lin choked, but I don't think he did. He played really well, didn't fumble any of his usual shots, fought well in the decider even up to 10-8, the only difference being that winning this meant a lot more to him, and he couldn't afford to experiment nor does he have the experience to. He just couldn't improvise against Ma Long. Ma says in the interview later that his goal for this tournament was to reach the semi finals which is why he was so relaxed in the finals. So yeah overall, even though I feel a little bad for LGY, it was an amazing match. And although there were a few hiccups in this tournament, thank you ITTF for bringing back the old angle, the matches were a lot more fun to watch this way!
Love how in the last 2 matches ma long changed his serve. He figured that the normal pendulum serve against the two lefties didn't work. Then he changed to reverse against both. It worked against wang, however lin still played great. Then he started using backhand serve against lin and never looked back. For the longest time he mostly used pendulum. love how he got out of his comfort zone at the worldcup. hope he finds a way against righties all well (especially against fan). Congrats Ma Long. Great fight
So much variation, Ma Long completly changed his playing style. He cant keep up with the insane speed of some of the other younger players but his insane at setting a slower pace, putting in a lot of spin and placing every single ball exactly where he wants it. He is the GOAT beating everyone throughout the years whilst adapting his own playing style to be better suited throughout the time.CRAZY!
After 0-3 down I said to myself "There's no way he can win this". Couple of minutes later he proved I was wrong. This is incredible at his age to be able to win a major tournament, where all the best player's showed up. Hands down Ma Long ❤
Here is the thing that so many of the "new generation" players lack: effortlessness. When the whole world is playing harder, faster, stronger, Ma Long is relaxed and composed -- not rushing or forcing a shot. Just being patient and waiting for the right moment. This is tai chi. This is "wu wei" (无为).
Love you ma long. It hurted so much to watch you losing your matches. I think not only me but most fans are extremely happy in you becoming the champion and taking the cup

ML was suffering from heavy top spin shots from Lin in the beginning and kept hitting it out of the table, but started adapting from the 3rd game by using slap shots rather than top spin smashes so that Lin hit it outside while trying to generate that top spin. And that tactic started working from the 4th game. It is ridiculous if you think that Ma Long was down 3-0 and 5-1 in the 4th game and then proceeded to win that game along with the other 3 to bag the trophy. Truly, the Dragon, the Dictator, the greatest of all time. No debate.

I've been looking at athletes in other sport to see how they stay highly competitive when they might be past their prime - like Nadal, Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. In addition to self - discipline and training, adjusting my mindset and expectation of myself are also critical. --Ma Long
Another thing I noticed is that he didn't get the points by his aggressive forehand smashes that much as he usually gets,he just placinghis shots to the opposite ends of the table.he barely moved in 5th and 6th set. Its all about experience and composure.

Welcome to the sport and if you started playing,do not get caught with the EJ virus😅
@@mobiusnnaito2543 what is the EJ Virus?
Bro, I wish you saw him in his prime, he was 10 times more stronger and faster in his prime !
Ma Long knows all the masters. Xu Xin style: 6:06, Kreanga: 6:11 Waldner: 6:16.
nah how tf is that waldner
😂👌👏👏👏
@@peterl392just watch how Waldner used to block against Timo Boll.
Ma long evolved and now combining playing style from other players 🤩
Indeed😅
I knew Ma Long would win after 6:02, at the end of the 3rd set I wanted to close the livestream in frustration of him losing after that masterclass against wang chuqin but said that I would be a true ma long fan and stick it out like I was with his losses earlier this year and I am so proud of him for turning on god mode near the end of the 5th set .
The shift to the backhand serve was clutch here. Also, ML's backhand loops in the last 3 points were insane.
Yes exactly right! Lin was all over Ma’s reverse pendulum until he changed. But did the commentators see it. No - they were awful throughout tournament - know nothing about the game. Where was Adam and Riley?
This tournament is the best of Ma Long I've watched in recent times.
GOAT for a reason
Ma Long throghout this match looked so unbothered like he didn't care or had an injury. One of the most casual comebacks I have seen, haha
This is what experience is.
he played with the same dont care mindeset against WR no1 Wang...mind blowing
Backhand serve, defensive and provide stable attack
After 0-3 down I said to myself "There's no way he can win this". Couple of minutes later he proved I was wrong. This is incredible at his age to be able to win a major tournament, where all the best player's showed up. Hands down Ma Long ❤
Congratulations on your win!!! Ma Long- the best of the best.
Ma Long is humble, disciplined and sincere in his approach to life. He deserves to be respected for his attitude to sports, and life .
Khi a ấy đỉnh cao phong độ tất nhiên chẳng ai là đối thủ của a ấy. Nhưng khi a ấy k còn đỉnh cao thì những đỉnh cao khác vẫn gục ngã dưới a ấy. Tay vợt xuất sắc nhất lịch sử bóng bàn! GOAL MaLong❤❤
Can't imagine how much of mental strength Ma Long has to give a tough fight even after losing 3 games in a row!
Great Ma Long, better than ever! LGY has improved a lot. Chinese are from another level.
China should allow Ma Long to participate in the singles Paris Olympics because he deserves it and if he wins the triple Grand Slam it will be a record that cannot be broken.
double grand slam is already a record. Don't let him play in singles Olympics to avoid the risk of retiring as loser
Even no men player can achieve a double grand slam. Ma Long will be the legend, the goat, the God among men in TT.
OMG! What did I see? I cannot believe my eyes. 0:3 come back? In the final? Is this another round of grand slam? GOAT!
The other side of the table is sister Lin. That partly explained.
@@onthihocky5666Bro this sister beat FZD at his best what are talking about
Fantastic victory from Ma Long, with a lesson of tactics (backhand serve) and indestructible fighting spirit.
Ma Long now could be 3 time Grand Slam Champion if winning Paris 2024..
Probably Fan Zhendong will lose his spot for Ma Long..

Ma Long absolutelly the Goat!!! 🐏🐏🐏
Nice work bro how long did it take you to write that😂😂
Good job counting 🎉

ML was suffering from heavy top spin shots from Lin in the beginning and kept hitting it out of the table, but started adapting from the 3rd game by using slap shots rather than top spin smashes so that Lin hit it outside while trying to generate that top spin. And that tactic started working from the 4th game. It is ridiculous if you think that Ma Long was down 3-0 and 5-1 in the 4th game and then proceeded to win that game along with the other 3 to bag the trophy. Truly, the Dragon, the Dictator, the greatest of all time. No debate.
the best two matches in table tennis history...4 to 0 against Wang....and from 3 games down to win 4 to 3 against Lin....Ma Long...written in stone...the greatest of all time
The way he turned himself to back hand serve , shows how well learned ma long is....for me this day he is GOAT.....getting out of comfort zone and winning such a crucial match of life is amazing , loads of respect for him
Ma Long's comeback was absolutely legendary! From 0-3 down to clinching the title 4-3, this is why he's the GOAT! 🏓🔥
Ma Long is the undisputed GOAT even before this tournament… to see him transitioned to so much backhand dependency is incredible
Ma Long’s best adaptive capability enabled him to win over WCQ and, now, LGY. He definitely has a chance to win another Olympic gold. Please give him a chance. I promise you he will not disappoint you…
Congratulations My Idol! The Greatest of All Time!
GOAT what a comeback from 0:3
I have watched some of Ma Long's comebacks over the past 2 decades, but this one stands out as the best one. He dominated two left-handed players consecutively on his way to win the title.
Caramba, inacreditável essa virada!😱😱😱
Congratulation Ma Long🇨🇳
Forte abraço brasileiro!🇧🇷
No wonder why Ma !ong is the GOAT...by far.
Ma Long is not only the most accomplished table tennis player in terms of achievements but also the King of epic plays!
Ma Long is always the Goat!Big Congrat! The goat just won World Cup!!!
Ma Long really showcased his class in this match. The UNDISPUTED GOAT. 🐐
That was the best match i’ve seen. To all the haters that said Ma Long is too old and should retire watch this😮
馬龍太偉大了,比赛中技戰術的的全面和靈活應用,太出神入化了....尤其後二局從改變發球到反手扣殺反拉,招招精彩絕倫,彷佛換了個人。
That improved/upgraded backhand helped ma long to win another title. He is the GOAT
And then, on this day, the world understood that the king of kings is still the best. And his name is Ma Long.
G.O.A.T❤
Ma has done the impossible again at 35 years old! This was literally one of the bigggest comebacks I have ever witnessed in table tennis! 🥶😱After beating Wang Chuqin 4-0, being down 0-3 1-4 in the final, and then to win it 4-3 in the end! Damn, this is ridicolous!!! Respect to the Greatest Of All Time!🏓🎉👏👏
MA LONG DESERVES HE UPGRADED HIS GAME TO THE CURRENT LEVEL OF QUALITY
Ma long, the biggest GOAT ever in ping-pong.
Never will our planet see a player again like Ma Long. He is the God of all gods.
Ma Long! Truly the greatest of all time! 🐉 True legend!
Как же рад за Ма. Снова как в лучшие годы на вершине. 🙂
Да, сразу вспомнились его привычные шикарные победы...
И на фоне трек "Легенды не умирают". Это просто вышка! До слез!
Ma the goat.
Ma Long é uma lenda viva. Rumo ao Tri Olímpico 🥇🥇🥇
This is just INSANE!!!!! It definitely is one of the unique matches that I've seen Ma Long played! Ma Long, you have impressed all of us AGAIN (since the last Olympics beating Fan Zhendong) in a very different way!

Congratulations 🎉 MaLong deserved it 🏆🥇, he exerted many many efforts on table tennis , he really loves table tennis 👍👏👏👏
The captain, the dragon simply the best player into the world Ma Long 🇨🇳🏓🏆
well said !
One of the craziest and most exciting comebacks in recent years, and the happiest thing is that the one doing it is the dragon Ma Long, very impressive. This comeback takes me back 7-9 years when Ma Long was the king of this undefeated game. Really playing for Pantheon
M a long is a realy is a world class player and his dedication towards sports is amazing thanks for the video
The King has returned !!! 🏆🎉🫶
50th title for the GOAT ❤

Big thanks to ITTF for broadcasting the games and making table tennis accessible to the majority. It's the way to go 🎉
To był mecz kosmiczny a akcje powalały na kolana MaLong jesteś THE BEST ever
I have been playing and following TT since 2019 , I first saw Ma Long vs Fan Zhendong 2017 WTTC finals. Since then , I have always been a fan of the GOAT.
Coming back , down 3-0 to win the World Cup at age 35 , this man is truly the greatest player in the history of TT. Don't forget the 2 olympic golds and 3 World TT Championship titles as well 👽 and 2 DOUBLE GRAND SLAMS
6:03 WOW
7:44 🐐
This man is incredible! WOW
Que alegría!, que épico partido! Ma Long es sin duda el G.O.AT. !!!!!!
nver seen ma long such variable play. GOAT
I've been looking at athletes in other sport to see how they stay highly competitive when they might be past their prime - like Nadal, Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
In addition to self - discipline and training, adjusting my mindset and expectation of myself are also critical.

MA LОNG THE GREAT ALL TIME

The best comeback in history 🔥🔥
Set 1-3 = lazy mode,
Set 4-6 = GOAT mode.
Ma Long🤴
Lazy mode to Crazy mode. 😉😄
So nice to see how Ma Long is celebrating his victory like it was his first 🤩
Simply the GOAT 🐐
Ma long awesome 🇭🇺👍🏓♥️
Ma Long is the professor, the Einstein of table tennis!!!!
Another thing I noticed is that he didn't get the points by his aggressive forehand smashes that much as he usually gets,he just placinghis shots to the opposite ends of the table.he barely moved in 5th and 6th set. Its all about experience and composure.
Wow great 3-person match: Ma Long vs Lin Gaoyuan vs Wang Manyu
I think that meant Wang Manyu was possessing Lin Gaoyuan to make him choke like she did against Sun Yingsha 👻
