Late to the podcast and absolutely loving it! For me it's a mix of therapy and hype girl friends in my head. For Valentine ideas for you for the future, do what we did: my equally as I am single girlfriend and I went on a cruise! We did the L.A., San Diego, Ensenada jaunt and it was great! It wasn't all couples even though it was Feb 15-19. Big mix of people and it was fun (it was my first cruise ever) 10/10 would do it again.
The people who say they have no inner dialog - I cannot fathom this. Like, do they not even hear crickets?? My inner dialog is pretty constant - and it's not quiet. The thought of inner silence is . . . kinda scary. P.S. I'm loving your podcast! I look forward to it every week.

The breakup when you have pets is GUT WRENCHING. I was the main caretaker of all of my dogs, and my ex of 6 years refused to let me take two of them that we adopted together. My 11-year-old was no question, but I was devastated to let the other girls stay with him. At first, I would go see them often (I also had more flexibility with work at that time, which allowed that). After a while, it become harder and harder to go see them only to leave them and not have them in my day-to-day. Over time, I’ve gradually had less and less of a relationship, although my ex has been completely open with me coming to see them whenever I want. It would kill me if he ever told me I couldn’t see them, so I think knowing the door is always open softens the blow at this point. I will be devastated if something ever happens to them or, as they’re aging, when they pass. I honestly can’t talk about it without crying, so I’ve never truly come to terms with it BUT… my therapist says our grieving of anyone never truly goes away completely. Still sucks, though.

Tom wasn’t being “kind” in their relationship. He was completely uninvested. He didn’t care enough to actually address any issues in their relationship, he ignored them & let them fester until Katie couldn’t take it anymore. How is that being “kind”? Katie did EVERYTHING in & for that relationship. He never really showed up; couldn’t be bothered to put in any kind of REAL work. She got a horrible edit from the producers for most of the run of the show. They continuously only showed Katie getting upset AFTER she’d finally had it with Tom, AFTER he refused to just participate in the relationship like any decent partner would. You shouldn’t have to beg your partner to step up in your relationship, share responsibilities, put in the effort to show that you care, ask them to actually spend quality time with YOU instead of constantly going out with his best friend. The show wanted to run with the narrative that Schwartz was the “cute, likeable, dorky, forever fratboy”, because the audience initially liked that, and that’s how they edited the show for years. It isn’t cute or fun or funny when you’re with someone for over a decade and they just take you for you granted, expect that you are going to take care of EVERYTHING, act like a college kid with no real responsibilities and expect you to take on all of the everyday adult responsibilities. How much of the show has Schwartz spent in his robe & flip flops, drinking beer? You don’t ACTUALLY live in a dorm, no matter how much you wish it, you’re a grown man.😵💫 He let his best friend CONSTANTLY come for her, talk down to her, berate her - right in front of him, and not only would he NEVER stand up for her, but he would actually grossly pile on & add to the insults. I stopped counting the number of times he referred to her as a b****. Immediately lost respect for him the FIRST time, and he just kept calling her that. You do not call your longtime partner, the supposed love of your life, then your WIFE that slur. No. The disrespect. When he cheated on her, don’t remember which time, but she wanted to have a real conversation about it, and he just kept making jokes about it. It was disgusting & bizarre, and when she got upset that he was being so lighthearted about something so hurtful & disrespectful to Katie and to their relationship, he then got *angry* & started yelling at *her*. (Was reminded of this when Sandoval was SCREAMING at Ariana right after she found out about him & Rachel. Disgusting.) She asked him to please put a stop to the ridiculous “boys nights”🙄 in Vegas, etc., since he obviously was incapable of controlling himself and making responsible decisions during these trips, because he kept cheating her. And, again, he freaked out on her, started yelling, and told her she had no business saying that. Excuse me? When you repeatedly cheat on your partner, the person that actually shows up for the relationship & does The MOST, takes care of everything for you, every time you go on these trips, yes, she absolutely gets to put her foot down and put a stop to those trips. If you can’t act right in your relationship, there’s consequences. He never thought he needed to answer to anything. He thought he could just giggle and shrug everything he did away. Literally. That was his childish little move. Drove me nuts watching him attempt to literally shrug everything off like a little kid. All of these men on this show are extremely immature and emotionally stunted. It was clear to most people that Katie was just more evolved and actually working on herself with every new season, growing up, learning more about herself and how to handle herself & figuring out what she wanted, and Tom was doing absolutely nothing. No growth from ANY of these men.🤦🏻♀️ There’s a recurring theme here with this show: the women are constantly evolving, learning, growing, maturing, trying to do & be better - all of them, and the men just stay the same. We’re on season ELEVEN. Come ON. Honestly, I suggest watching some more episodes of this podcast, and a few of her longer, more recent podcast interviews to get to know her better, who she really is, and especially listen to her talk about what her relationship with Schwartz was actually like to be in, and then maybe do a bit of a rewatch…a LOT of people started all over after Scandoval, and, especially as they now had very different, soured perspectives towards Schwartz’ behavior & personality, they had an entirely different take on Katie’s behavior & reactions in their relationship. You could clearly see that the editing was being done in favor of Schwartz too. Though, that’s taken on a different meaning now lol…seems the majority of people caught up and are similarly irritated AF with him always shrugging & giggling his poor behavior away. She’s got some great interviews on a number of podcasts out there (obviously Nick’s is one, but the female-led ones I thought had better questions about their relationship).
