- Properties of waves are introduced as we explore the wave velocity equation by finding the frequency and wavelength of different types of waves. Simple harmonic motion is introduced with a discussion of spring force and spring potential energy and how that motion relates to waves.

The content, descriptions, and examples presented in this lesson are wonderful, however devices such as swinging and spring pendulums that exhibit Simple Harmonic Motion are not actually waves despite their periodic behaviour. Waves by definition must also propagate the disturbance and carry that energy from one place to another, something that pendulums do not do. Perhaps it would be safe to classify pendulums as "vibrations," but certainly not "waves".
