Why didn't they just clone their own humans?
Honestly, I didn't think of it. That is a really good idea. The only hang up for that idea is you need fresh dna, and the academy students took their lovers with them. Those that are having withdrawals did not have to be intimate with a human to absorb bio energy. Just like the princess only needed to hold a human for a couple of minutes to get her fix. I know there are other ways of retrieving dna, yet you also must remember that all those students have been altered via crispr. A simple hair follicles dna might just produce a mutant.
