- Welcome to Episode 100.
We finally made it - a one hour special.
In this end of series episode I get my Spectrum online with the VTX5000 modem.
I dig out my old Xbox and fire up the Spectrum emulator.
I finally do the mammoth 26 minute Pacman clone shoot out!
Geoff puts me through Desert Island Games.. and there are a few other bits too.
Back for another ten episodes in January and I will be putting out an 'in between' show some time in December with various clips from some older Patreon videos.
If you like the show, please consider becoming a Patreon subscriber and get access to Patreon only videos.

@25:39 "But I never saw any bonus items" as he moves straight past one 😂🤣
Yes the centre of the maze opened up, allowing you to collect the power up, a clever idea.
Yep.. must have been nodding off.. all those mazes...!!!
Congratulations on reaching episode 100 - I look forward to watching the next 100!
Thanks. No pressure then ;-)
A massive achievement, Paul and, speaking personally, a show that really helped me in what was a very difficult time. Many congratulations. Thanks for all your time, and thanks to Geoff and anyone else who has contributed too.
I second that. The show has helped me through some rough patches as well.
Appreciate your support.
Congratulations Paul! This is a MASSIVE achievement and everyone of your subscribers I'm sure are the same as me and thank you for all your efforts on a brilliant show.
You've helped many of us get through some difficult times, by reminding us how great our 80s were!
100 episodes is quite an achievement! Congrats! Thanks for keeping Speccy alive & kicking. 👍👍👍
A real highlight on youtube, thanks for all your work!
25m 41s - "I never saw any bonus items", he says, going straight past a bonus item...
Gobbleman was my first Spectrum game. First owned game on any format. Still love it now. Regarding the instant death - When you respawn in the middle, just sit still for a few seconds while the ghosts wander off, then you'll be fine. The game works on a 'line of sight' principle. If you're in direct line to a ghost, it will come after you.
Congrats. One of my favourite channels and I always enjoy re-watching old episodes. You deserve more subs for your excellent work and dedication.
Please don't ever get bored of the speccy, really enjoyed every one (hundred) of your episodes and the AGD guides! Best of the luck for the future.
Well done on getting to 100. Has to be THE most consistently entertaining and informative retro show on YT. Amazing!
Good to know I'm not the only person who can't stand playing or watching golf, but loves a good golf video game..
Links2003 is free I think, and the courses are only $2 :-)
More eagerly waited than the finale of Lost and knowing who shot J.R. combined. Thanks for all the great times, Paul.
Long live the Spectrum show. Thank you for your work. Best regards from Czech Republic, home of Didaktik (ZX Spectrum clone) owners
Thank you.
Congratulations on 100 episodes Paul! I spotted an August 1984 Sinclair User Magazine in your section on missed magazine reviews, the very and only time I got my program published in the beginners section (Manic Axe). I got £10 for that aged 13, and went to Woolworths to buy a copy of Fred (also mentioned in this edition). Heres to the next 100 episodes !!
Thank you so much for this series! It has kept me going, binge watching all the way from episode 1, as I recover from serious injury! Loved every minute of the trips back to my childhood!
It's not a clone, but Escape published by New Generation Software in 1982, was likely influenced by the Pac-man craze. In a randomly generated maze, a stick-man is frantically limping along with an axe, as he tries to evade some well animated dinosaurs. It's sort of the Shining meets Jurassic Park.
Of the bare-faced copies released back in the day, I'd also pick Z-man by DJL. The character movement slows a bit at times, but the game play feels spot-on, and the sounds are good for the beeper only Speccy.
Penetrator fireworks at the start there. Nice.
Well done on episode 100. :)
Ahhhhhh, that's where I remember seeing those, thanks was bugging me.
Thought it was very appropriate ;-)
Congratulations on 100 episodes! An absolutely cracking episode. A worthy addition to the series. Thanks for all your efforts Paul. Here's looking forward to the next 100!
Well done Paul, you should get an 8-bit medal for services to the Speccy!
Yes he should, considering how great his tutorials are for coding AGD from the start.
Congrats! Love this show! Thank you for these 100 episodes!
Hi Paul, what a great show and you’ve reached 100 episodes; well done 👍
I grew up with the ZX Spectrum and my first game was Haunted Hedges as you featured, so brought those nostalgic memories back.
I’ve spent the last few years writing an 8-bit game called Space Walkers for the 6502; so try to keep my hand in where I can.
Look forward to the next ten episodes and to support you, I’m heading over to Patreon right now.
Many thanks.
Congratulations on these first 100 episodes. Not only they have been very interesting to me as a Spectrum fan, they are very well produced as well. On this episode I enjoyed a lot seeing the humble Spectrum connecting to the world in 2020. And through a modem made specifically for it nonetheless. Thank you for all your videos!
Yes. I can;t explain the feeling when it finally connected for the first time... wow...
Congratulations on 💯 episodes! I've enjoyed all of them, thanks for keeping me entertained.
Congratulations on your 100th Episode, and I look forward to watching many more. Long live the Spectrum! The Next Chapter continues with the Spectrum Next...
Excellent and congratulations. Saved watching this 'till a had a bit of time, no interruptions and a nice glass of Red. Love the series, and your games. Thank you Paul 😊
Nice one Paul!! Congrats on the 100 - we've enjoyed each and every one of them :)
Here's to another 100.
Brilliant. Looking forward to more. (And that’s coming from a Commodore fanboy)
Well done on 100 episodes mate.
That mag's article in issue 4 on machine code graphics with the dove sprite was in a book I owned back in the 80's I wish I could remember what it was called it was a very image heavy book so not one I think I've got on PDF lying around as reference these days.
thank you for the great memories....
That BBS via modem is mindblowing!
Congratulations, Paul. Fantastic achievement. Looking forward to the next 100 ;)
Congratulations reaching episode 100 :) and looking forward to episode 101 onwards.
Thanks Paul. I’ve spent the last couple of months binge watching these hundred episodes, and I’ve learned a lot. Have several speccys in the loft including my original boxed +128 from my childhood which never gets used (I have another one for general use now) and can’t wait to get my Next hopefully in 2021.
It is a shame though for a computer that sold millions you’ve got so few subs. You deserve more and I also respect your position on advertising, YT are really aggressive these days on ads. I would encourage anyone who has the means to bung a few notes your way.
Congratulations getting to 100 and still going strong, here's to the next 100 episodes👍🏻
Congrats! 100 episodes of the stuff dreams are made of. Thank you
enjoyed the pacman feature definitely a mixed bag there and a lot to get through. spectres was the first one i played back in the day. i do feel that Joe Blade 2 loading screen could have had an honorary mention too.
@25:39 "But I never saw any bonus items" *Bonus item appears and gates unlock allowing access to it* : ¬ ) Great video as always....
Nice to see Telstar like that. It's a shame the one on the Next doesn't work properly yet. Hopefully it'll be sorted soon. :)
Well done and thanks for the 100 episodes. I've watched them all.
Brilliant bit of nostalgia as always
Congratulations on the 100th episode. These little shows dotted around the year provide nice breaks filled with innocent nostalgia. Have a merry Christmas and a very happy new year.
I'm hoping that was sarcasm in there :-)
@@BuckingTheTrend2008 No. What I meant was that I like that there is a Spectrum Show episode once in a while, but not too often. It is like a little treat every time there is a notification about a new episode (a bigger treat this time). If I got more Spectrum related news all the time it would be too much. I like to get updated about current news most of the time, but it is also nice to be taken back to my childhood once in a while. By the way, Manic Miner would definitely go on my top ten list, and Cookie too, but I guess that is because those were some of the first games I had, and not because they were actually good games. Atic Atack on the other hand belongs there because it is a solid good game.
I can't belive it's 100th episode! Thanks for great show!
Great , 100th Episode. I Love the Show. It ist a must watch for me. I usw the speccy since 1983 and Love it still today. Funny, i Had the old Xbox in usw too
100 shows, well done it shows your passion for the humble spectrum, well done :)
C O N G R A T U L A T I O N S.
Paul Jenkinson, for this 100th milestone.
Am so pleased you carried on, after nearly quitting, on episode 40 (Magazines).
Never knew that, and so here we are.
Have enjoyed every episode.
Couldn't believe my eyes when I saw how long this episode was.
Watched the Pac Man segment in 2 sittings LOL.
Never knew there were so many clones.
And the chats with Geoff are amazing to listen to.
I look forward to seeing what you and Geoff are going to do, with the Next (Excuse the Pun) generation of Speccy machine and software.
All the best to you Paul & your family.
And of course to you Geoff & your family.
Take care Guys.
Thanks Paul :)
Thanks. All the best to you and your family.
Congratulations on the 100th episode!!! I've been here from the start and enjoyed them all, and oddly now find myself nostalgic about The Spectrum Show itself. Thanks for giving this to us.
Thanks for all work you done. Love this serie and Spectrum.
Congrats on 100 episodes. And an hour too! Bliss
Congrats on the 100th! This is my favourite show!
Great show, Paul !
Thank You :)
Great channel Paul. Lets have another 100.
Hi there - weird, my comment was lost. I just wanted to say well done sitting through all of those Pacman clones - very patient man indeed. OC Man and Z-man had the same music as on my handheld pacman 2 toy from the early 80's. Cheers!
More than eight years of dedication and only _now_ i find out about your show : the YT suggestion algorithm _definitely_ suxxx - but now that i found you , nostalgia flows freely ( or are zey zentimental dropletz from zee eye ? )
Woohoo! 100! Wonderful stuff as usual sir ;)
100.
Great job!
Now onto 200!
Congrats.
MUNCHER, that was the pacman game me and mi dad played back in the day inbetween bouts of Manic Miner
the Epic #100 delivered!
100 episodes down, hopefully many more to come! Congrats.
Поздравляю с 100м выпуском!!!! Спасибо за труд.
Thanks for excellent shows so far!
And congratulations on getting to 100 episodes!
Superb as always! Congratulations on 100 amazing episodes, I've watched them all and continue to rewatch them. Just for the hell of it, my 8 games would be (in no order): Jetpac, Cyclone, Minder, Stonkers, Sabre Wulf, Ant Attack, Deathchase and Warlock of Firetop Mountain.
Nice. Stonkers though?? Could you cope with all those crashes?
@@BuckingTheTrend2008 haha yes it did crash from time to time but I felt that it was worth it considering all the enjoyment I was getting. I think it wasn't that bad for me maybe one crash every 3-4 times I played it, I could cope with that.
Congratulations! Excellent work and another great episode!
Happy 100th! Excellent as always
Great stuff - another great episode and congratulations on hitting 100!
Well done PJ I always look forward to the latest speccy show.
Congrats on 100 episodes. Watched them all, loved them all.
Brilliant nostalgia and great themes :)
Thanks once again for sharing your work with us, Paul. You clearly put a lot of passion and effort into it! I discovered the show earlier this year when I got back into the world of ZX Spectrum (after a…25 year break?!) so I’ve been catching up over the last few months and found the show to be entertaining and really well presented. It’s a terrific source of well-researched information. Congratulations on reaching this milestone, and long may the show continue!
So you have a lot of catching up to do then..
@@BuckingTheTrend2008 In fact, I'm now right up-to-date! I watched the most recent few episodes on their day of release (absolutely _perfect_ Saturday morning viewing with a bowl of Coco-Pops, it should be noted!) and caught up with the back-catalogue in between.
Congratulations Paul and thank you for the 100 episodes.
TY for 100 ep's of pure joy
