    While I'll never buy one of these Mvsx cabs because I own an original 4-slot cab, I appreciate all the time and work that went into modding this.

    It's also funny that your suggestion to Unico is to build a machine that is basically the case + monitor + hookups for authentic arcade hardware... their next product, the nova blast, is exactly that

    Nicely done! What a wonderful cabinet to start your journey into arcade cabinet modding, and playing. Me, personally, I'd prefer to have that cart slot in front, maybe between the speakers, or just above the coin door, in the cabinet base stand. I wouldn't want to keep pulling the cab from the row, just to change out a cart. It's awesome, you have that collection. Glad to hear Unico reached out to you for advice. Wish all the other home arcade cab manufacturers would do that. Thanks for the video.

    I don't see the point? It would be cheaper to buy CNC cut wood and put your own together. Don't get me wrong, your installation is clean and nice and everything looks great. I just don't see the reason for taking a 450+ cab and throwing out most of the insides. Built your own you get more hand space. I keep my mvsx original and my arcade 1ups (minus street fighter 2 joysticks were the worst things ever) original as much as possible. To each his own I guess? but I'm still confused as to why not buy the wood and do your own?

    I love mine how I have it, but that is cool you figured out how to make it legit. I still wish I could figure out your speaker mod, my knowledge of speakers is limited and I have no idea how I’d cut the holes in the ceiling of cabinet to
    Fit those pioneer speakers.

    • @douglasmclainberdeaux1534

      Thanks! I used a hole saw which is shaped like a small cup that attaches to the end of a drill and spins while cutting a perfect 4"hole. Then I pushed the speakers into the holes and marked the screw holes on the speakers. Then, I drilled the 4 screw holes and simply screwed them on! :)

      Cool. As far as the wiring the control board has a 2 pin for the speakers... simular to the connection for the buttons I replaced. Did you just twist wires together for the speakers when you connected the front speaker replacement or what? I know you said they are running in parallel so I assume that means they are both outputting the same sound.

    Just found this, I think your idea is cool and you did a great job but you really didn't make it easy for yourself (or cheap, for that matter xD). I think an horizontal slot type mv1fz would have been easier to integrate to this bartop, added with a supergun it would be half the price of this consolized mvs. As for the upscaler the issue with the OSSC, which is a great upscaler btw, is that you have to manually power it on, I think something like the retrotink 2x scart would have done the trick for this specific project. Cool stuff anyway !

    • @douglasmclainberdeaux1534
      @douglasmclainberdeaux1534  3 роки тому +1

      Hello. Thanks. I have all of the devices powered by a single switch and only a single cable coming out of the back. I looked around for other wooden shells for bartops and can't find a nice one. The Weecade came close but the marquee points at the ceiling which I hate. Also, I have all of the stock parts. Everyone seems to act like I pitched them for some reason. If I do find a nice wooden she'll, I will migrate the internals and just out this back to stock and have both. So, most arguments of cost I just dismiss.

      @@douglasmclainberdeaux1534 Sorry I saw this video only and wrongly assumed you bought this stuff for this purpose. You still need to set the video output on the Ossc when powering it up though right? In any case sorry didn't want to come off as condescending, I think you did a great job.

    • @douglasmclainberdeaux1534
      @douglasmclainberdeaux1534  3 роки тому +1

      @@Meubeu1 lol no, no! I didn't think that at all. The ossc, fans, system, lcd, marquee, etc all comes on when I turn on a single switch in the back. Also, I got the ossc to give me a crystal clear image (check out my audio mods update vid of you have time). The problem with the sound was a stupid SCART cable that made hdmi sparkles. I got the one from stone aged gamer and a new hdmi cable (certified high speed) which made a WORLD of a difference! That's why I never checked out the Retrotink or other alternatives. Someone told me to use a Mister? Idk what that is, I'll have to check it out.

    • @Meubeu1
      @Meubeu1 3 роки тому +1

      @@douglasmclainberdeaux1534 I think most american hate the scart, for good reasons xD, it's sort of wonky tbh. I think your consolized mvs has component output, tried this? it's supposed to be as good as scart. The mister is the new hot thing, it's basically hardware emulation (instead of software emulation), so it's supposed to be "perfect" like the originals. Still kills the purpose of your build, being using mvs carts, as far as I understand. I'll check your other videos asap !

      @@PixelArcStudios I agree. Hacking something like this is scary and risky. If you’re gonna go through the trouble of tapping into the audio, maybe consider just splicing in an audio jack and possibly mounting a sound bar on the same panel in the back/top. You’d probably get better sound that way too since some of it would be facing upwards and forwards. Just a thought!

    You can use the games on the official configuration to keep your secret high scores.

    • @douglasmclainberdeaux1534
      @douglasmclainberdeaux1534  3 роки тому +3

      No, no no. For the secret scores, I take pictures of them on my phone, transfer them to a usb drive, shred and zero out the entire phone, then on the usb drive, I ROT13 And XOR them, encrypt them over and over again using key stretching. I do this over and over again using newly generated random passphrases until I forgot what I was doing. Then, I put the usb into a balloon and tie it off. Place the balloon into a metal lock box that uses american standard locks with 5 security pins each and grind the keys up in my garbage disposal. Then, I take the metal lock box out onto the deep ocean and throw as hard as I can. I'm not taking any chances. Fuck that.

    I have an AES.
    Do you think a similar project using the AES would work?

    • @douglasmclainberdeaux1534
      @douglasmclainberdeaux1534  2 роки тому +1

      Absolutely. I would recommend using another housing/arcade body though. This housing was essentially $499. When I started the project, I had no idea about anything arcade related and had an MVSX on hand -- so I just started hacking it. A lot of trolls are bitching about the cost, but it was all I had at the time. It's okay though, because I'm obsessed with it and how it turned out - to me it looks like a small MVS. I chose MVS over my AES just because of the cart costs. After I hacked my AES, I sold it on ebay to buy the MVS and a lot more games. I think I am up to about 75ish carts now all original and I wouldn't have been able to accomplish that with AES. You can get cheaper arcade housings online - heck, even on Etsy. Just make sure the dimensions are big enough to house the whole AES so you don't have to take the console apart.

      @@douglasmclainberdeaux1534 thanks for the reply and congratulations on the build. I think you went the right way about it.
      You wanted authentic SNK, Neo Geo and you achieved that. Well done.
      I already have an MVSX, AES (with multi-cart), framemister and the HMDI board for the MVSX.
      I tried the RSPI4 with batocera, but I didn’t really like the outcome, I tried Dreamcast via TORO and Framemister, but again, too many adapters and power switches.
      I want plug and play. Clean and simple.
      I’ll give the AES a go, then probably back to stock MVSX.
      Anyway,
      Thanks for the video and showing what’s possible.
      .
      I’m beginning to regret playing Metal-Slug at the arcade 20+ years ago.
      This obsession of recreating that moment has cost me thousands of dollars. >
