you do! I love mine even though the learning curve is steep. I don't know any other device on the planet that can tweak samples that way well outside of modular expensive gear that is.
well be thankful it is way less expensive than modular or Eurorack gears! The same gear would cost you 8-10k easy on modular setups. Elektron is a bargain in comparison and less space needed too.
Was playing an elektron set from my playlist. Left it to autoplay, from the YT suggested, while disco napped. After 20 mins. I'm like. What the fuck is this? , it's niiiiice. I look up and find this little gem. Funky as hell in a technotic way. Instantly saved and subbed. Banging 👍🎧🎹🎶🎼😊💓
Wow, I didn't know the track at 26:00 mark is yours. Have heard Oliver Lieb play it several times and loved it each time. Makes me happy to know my Elektron boxes are capable of making stuff this amazing; if only I was ;-)
You mean before Thatcher abolished free parties. True rave will never be the same again. Or will they? Hmmmm 🤔🤔🤔 End times, appocolypse, judgement day coming. Crisis after crisis after crisis.. humanity crying out for the rise of raves. And the free love movement to dominate once again.. If only . ...... 🤔🤔🤔🤔
@Rene S Jensen, the controller you see in the video is the SFX-JII, a shame links can't be posted but as Dataline suggested, search for gugabox on google. on the site, projects->SFX-JII :)
Looks like the machines lost clock sync and went off-beat for some weird reason, you can see him restart the patterns. The box is a gugabox SFX-JII. Google it. It's a Monomachine controller.
Great set Cenk! Would you mind outlining how these machines are connected - I have these four boxes - scratching my head sometimes on how Best to connect them - any advice appreciated.
You sold on me on why I should have all those boxes - nice work! Amazing performance as always; you're creativity is limitless. Cenk, can you explain your audio routing? At least, two of them are going to the Octatrack, but I can't see where the fourth machine is going into. I send my Machinedrum through the Monomachine, but it looks like you have something else going on. Thanks.
Gorgeous !! I wonder how much is improvised and how much is the result of months of preparation and difficult-decision making. I used to have a Korg MicroSampler, but I never really got anywhere with it. Now I'm going to investigate Elektron (another fine Swedish company to go with my Nord!)
Mr. Dataline is very good at improvising things, so I am guessing there is a fair bit of improv here... There are not months but years of working with the machines daily for Mr. Dataline and it shows. He knows them inside & out.
I've been doing live techno for 15 years that mixes improvised and pre-sequenced methods. I can tell you this: I never went anywhere with the MicroSampler either. However last night, I just had 3 hours of sustained joy with my brand new Elektron Analog Rytm...oh man...
The only drawback, miles and miles of wire. M-Audio makes Mid Air, a wireless MIDI and I believe there is wireless guitar cords out there. Not sure if it is all cost effective yet.
So much variation!! Isn't it hard to constantly move on, like when you've found something you really like, isn't it tempting to save it or stick with it :o? Always having to kill your darlings like this must be hard. Do you have any own presets and patterns that you load, or is everything evolving from blank slate? Also how do you work with swing/grooves? is it global in all elektron devices?
What's your setup like? I'm trying to figure out what is the best way to mix in other hardware devices (Korg EMX1, Korg Minilogue, my guitar, AKAI drum machine, etc) Is there a separate MIDI time component that's needed ?
It looks like the Bandcamp link isn't working. I posted this on MATRIXSYNTH with a link to your direct Bancamp page instead. If you'd like the link updated feel free to email or message me.
Its likely the patterns and associated patches were pre made (If you use elektron boxes you should know what I mean) and then Jenk just jams with the patterns live so its a differnt live set each time.
Does anyone know how to get that sort wonderful soft pad sound he uses around 2:30? I don't have an A4 yet but wondering if I could try to recreate it on another analog synth. Maybe a polyphonic-mode chord? My ears are not sufficiently trained.
Russel Simmons Ok, so using Reason on the ol' mac I was able to get a pretty similar timbre. I tried to limit myself to things I knew the Analog 4/Keys has voice structure wise. Here's what I came up with. Osc 1 Saw tooth. Sub Osc Square wave set to a Fifth (You can do this on other synths by setting another osc. to -5 semitones from the first. Osc 2 Saw tooth set an octave + a Major 3rd above Osc. 1. Filter 1 low pass with a slowly opening envelope (this is pretty much to taste it seems as he's tweaking it throughout that part. Run that into a high pass filter to cut out some of the extra sub bass to make it more "airy" Add some chorus (that detune effect you're probably hearing) and reverb (it's Cenk, he throws that Elektron verb on everything). set the amp envelope to fade it it and out. you could probably get that sound with 1 track of the analog 4 if you set it up right.
Russel Simmons also if you want to challenge yourself to recreating that sound the notes are A and then F. you don't need to play chords if you set the synth up how I described. You'll need any kind of synth that has 3 oscillators.
Adam Rojo Wowow thanks so much for the suggestions! I'll try that out in Ableton and on a real A4 soon. I think you're right that some of the detuney texture is from chorus, I haven't used chorus effects enough.
how anyone could downvote this is beyond me. This is a fantastic techno!
this dude just keeps selling me on the idea that I need an Octotrack
+Reginald Cabanas his job :)
+charligj I didn't get one, yet.
you need to get one
you do! I love mine even though the learning curve is steep. I don't know any other device on the planet that can tweak samples that way well outside of modular expensive gear that is.
but.. you do need an Octatrack
MrDataline costing me a fortune in elektron gear
well be thankful it is way less expensive than modular or Eurorack gears! The same gear would cost you 8-10k easy on modular setups. Elektron is a bargain in comparison and less space needed too.
@@GuitarsAndSynths got the trinity too and have to admit the options are unlimited!
@@GuitarsAndSynths lol. modular or eurorack
Dancing to this in my quarantine home office/music studio and feeling kinda ok :)
What just happened? this is sooooo goooooood, much respect for keeping up for 2 hours perfectly
The tune that starts at 1:01:10 is beautiful! Really impressed by the live performances you've uploaded.
Producing sets like this, is so fun. The best part is the pure randomness of it all.
This set is f*ng good, please dude, make another live improvised set and upload soon, its so fresh
awesome machines. i love the sound. so warm. you deserve more atention!
your the best MrDataline........very good mix
It's quite a while I follow you Mr. Dataline. I think those knobs are the extension of your arms. Excellence
MrDataline is an Elektron test tube baby, born to make awesome music:) Respect
outstanding performance! when it comes to Live electronics this is the ticket! #respect
Very inspiring to see/hear such talent.musical, clever, technical and highly entertaining all in one.magic! Thanks for sharing man!
damn, I just paused at 15 minutes, but it had already felt like I've been watching for at least an hour
woah, I would love to be able to do sets like this
You're the master of minimalism, nice work!
How can anyone not like this?
If i was in the club i would totally lose myself to this. Insane... I am getting an irrational analog obsession. This has to stop.
Palasako It's actually not everything analog machines ;)
+InsaneShape Yeah ...its actually mostly digital, this anal - log obsession needs to stop
+JazzLicka there is a difference in sound. But it's not actually better i think. It's just different...
@palasako You don't have an analog obsession, you have a synthesizer obsession! :)
Very good music video. I like the way Dataline (Cenk) from Elektron performes the music.
Wow, I didn't know the track at 26:00 mark is yours. Have heard Oliver Lieb play it several times and loved it each time.
Makes me happy to know my Elektron boxes are capable of making stuff this amazing; if only I was ;-)
Love this vid, cant wait to see what you do with the volca's
Fresh and deep. Bravo !
The Elektron-King. Your my hero Cenk!
This is how the live sets were at rave party's in the early nineties. Before Macbooks and Ableton took over.
You mean before Thatcher abolished free parties. True rave will never be the same again. Or will they? Hmmmm 🤔🤔🤔
End times, appocolypse, judgement day coming. Crisis after crisis after crisis.. humanity crying out for the rise of raves. And the free love movement to dominate once again..

very nice! great atmosphere love it
very awesome tools nice performance forsure
Very nice!
i've watched the full movie/set non stop without ever looking away about 3-4 times. this is entertaining as fuck!! :) . Great liveset .
That sounds amazing, good job!
Love the transition shortly after 23:10
What fucking cool set!!!!
goddamn what a fantastic performance!
So freaking good.
cleaning/rewiring the studio grate track to work to
@Rene S Jensen, the controller you see in the video is the SFX-JII, a shame links can't be posted but as Dataline suggested, search for gugabox on google. on the site, projects->SFX-JII :)
What is making that sound at the very beginning? Reminds me of old, old, old stuff from The Orb. "OOBE," maybe? Fucking love it.
7:40 Best bassline I've heard in a long time :)
Great as usual...faved
Amazing as always ! :)
Awesome dude !!!!!!!
Nice clean set up
It's for the monomachine to add some extra controllers, a randomizer and other things.
AWESOME!
Master at Work!
Thanks! I updated my post.
Massive!
Best product demo ever ;-)
Great mix. Really rate MrDataline. Question: What went wrong at 19:44? and what's the little box you moved at that moment?
Looks like the machines lost clock sync and went off-beat for some weird reason, you can see him restart the patterns. The box is a gugabox SFX-JII. Google it. It's a Monomachine controller.
lovin it - seriously thinking about MD.SPSMK2
you just know these machines like no other.
This video convinced me to get the A4
mmmmmmmmmm, fkn lovely!
Masterful 7:50 the bassline
still modern in 2020
The track that starts about 1:49:00 hit's the spot Cenk. I haven't heard it anywhere on your solo track videos or bandcamp :O
Çok başarılı performance. Tebrikler.
Great set Cenk! Would you mind outlining how these machines are connected - I have these four boxes - scratching my head sometimes on how Best to connect them - any advice appreciated.
Sick work as ever, :)
Amazing

great track @41:55
Bayraklari asiyorum Cenk

woooow SICK!
Good skills :-)
very cool, are you going to do a 5 machine set when the Analog Rytm comes out? ;)
The only drawback, miles and miles of wire. M-Audio makes Mid Air, a wireless MIDI and I believe there is wireless guitar cords out there. Not sure if it is all cost effective yet.
how is the timing with wireless midi??
I assume it has even more lag because there is the extra wireless circuit through the Bluetooth software.
not really an option, in other words :)
you can just get short cables.
modular without cables is like cereal without milk If someone could come up with some kind of wifi MIDI hub like device, reliable and inexpensive...
So much variation!! Isn't it hard to constantly move on, like when you've found something you really like, isn't it tempting to save it or stick with it :o? Always having to kill your darlings like this must be hard.

@MrDataline, Thanks for a nice demo. Can you please tell me, what is the little controller box, with the blue display and the joystick?
Nice!!
anyone knows what is this small box with blue screen on the bottom right?
thanks :)
What is the small dark box with blue leds in the bottom right corner?
Awesome technique, brilliant music!
What Elektron machine , you suggest to start with ?
What's your setup like? I'm trying to figure out what is the best way to mix in other hardware devices (Korg EMX1, Korg Minilogue, my guitar, AKAI drum machine, etc) Is there a separate MIDI time component that's needed ?
impressive
sick music lets do this.
aesy!
What's the name of track at 26min?
It looks like the Bandcamp link isn't working. I posted this on MATRIXSYNTH with a link to your direct Bancamp page instead. If you'd like the link updated feel free to email or message me.
that's about 7 thousand dollars sitting on the table right there..... $$$$$
Priorities.
hahaha nice way of looking at it
of course, i'm just jealous :P
fayekhelmi it´s Cenk from Elektron Sweden ;)
The Instruments in this order are complete free of charge...
Have a nice Day
fayekhelmi guess you're about to get more jealous: I just gort a MnM ;P
rich kid toys, XONE92 as well... £7000+!! I would still love them though;)
aka he works for Elektron so who knows if he even paid for them.
nice set! was this done totally live ? or the arrangement pre made?
you could spend your life on this gear and not make the same noise twice.
Its likely the patterns and associated patches were pre made (If you use elektron boxes you should know what I mean) and then Jenk just jams with the patterns live so its a differnt live set each time.
aikighost He also inputs/plays some melodies live and records them as patterns, so I'd say it's a combination.
I am jealous!
good stuff ;)
supernice
like it!!!
Damn!
24:15 -27:45
Totally sick..
thousands and thousands of dollars in a kit....... =__=
can't stand to look at it without being jealous.
tools of the trade
He gets an employee discount.
2 thumbs up
Incredible live set! better than many big fake artists -.-
Dem cables
damn your good.... one day i will chalenge you in the proper elektron-fu manner and WINN!!!!
Does anyone know how to get that sort wonderful soft pad sound he uses around 2:30? I don't have an A4 yet but wondering if I could try to recreate it on another analog synth. Maybe a polyphonic-mode chord? My ears are not sufficiently trained.
Well, it sounds detuned, so multiple oscillators at least. I think.
Russel Simmons Octatrack is a sampler, so it could be sampled from anywhere.
Russel Simmons Ok, so using Reason on the ol' mac I was able to get a pretty similar timbre.
I tried to limit myself to things I knew the Analog 4/Keys has voice structure wise.
Here's what I came up with.
Osc 1 Saw tooth.

can't really tell what sounds are coming from which machines. it's interesting but not particularly informative. I like what I hear, though.
wow ¡
What did you do at 45:00 amazing man
great vids man
how can i find you on facebook?
respect from Russia
why are those devices sooooo xpensive
