There must be something in the air. I’ve been thinking about nothing else other than rebuilding a classic road bike lately. This looks amazing and I’m really excited to see it come together.
I must admit, it's super rewarding. This is the second time I have done it and I would do it again. You can pick up some nice bikes and parts at a decent prices as well 👌🏼
That's a baller bike. Couple of small tweaks will finish it off nicely: line the tyre logos with the valve, shorten the front brake outer so it goes straight down and i think you have the caliper release cam in the open position (not a problem until you want to remove the wheels).
Thanks for the vid! The bar tape might eventually get undone because you didn’t pull it enough while installing, they’ll also feel thicker, fizik can take a lot of pressure before snapping so don’t get scared
You can get shims to make 26 bars fit 31 stem! Also tyre names need to line up symmetrically with valves. Ps you can get a sunrace droplink extender for about a tenner and they're sprockets not cogs! 😂
Great video! Very thorough (and well edited). For bar tape I'd suggest trying to pull that tape a lot tighter, Fizik is quite strong. I'd also line up the "Continental" logos with the tyre valves. You've done a fantastic job here! Will you go with chrome bottle cages (to match the cranks, derailleurs, wheels, and brakes)?
Keep procrastinating about finishing my 90's Brian Rourke road bike. Stripped it down to the bare frame, need to re-chrome the chain stay and repaint the frame.
When you rewrap with new bar tape, perhaps consider moving the brake outer cables to underneath the bars for 1. a better feel when your hands are on the tops and 2. they are less visible as they exit from the bar tape and don't cross over the front end of the stem.
Great build. just a small one. Are you sure your bar tapes installed correctly? The take has a white outer line showing on one half of each bar (either the top above the hoods or on the drops) . I am sure the white edge should be invisible and wrapped over. Guessing its where you change directions as you go round the shifters. I may be wrong though,,.. The bike looks stunning and really enjoyed the video. I recently rebuilt my Cove Stiffee mountain bike that I used to race 24 hour on in the late 1990s and early 2000s. XTR and even managed to find some new old stock Tioga factory comp xc tires that I used to use.. The Hope C2 brakes were a nightmare to refurb and find seals for but worth it in the end as I wanted it to be identical to how I rode it back in the day,.
I also used that EC90 saddle it's a nice comfortable saddle. I highly recommend the *Selle San Marco Shortfit 2.0 Dynamic Narrow Comfort Saddle Black 140 mm* if you want something similar but higher quality.
Somebody already said but you could of just got a direct link for the rear derailleur hanger which moves the derailleur down a little bit, to use a larger cassette with a short cage derailleur
Hey Jourdain, maybe also a quick fix of your cassette vs. short-cage problem is an derailleur extension. I had the same issue with my 20y/o Giant OCR-0 and upgraded with this extension to more friendly 11-34 cassettes 🙂
Rather than buying to another cassette, you could have just gotten a "road link" (either the original one or one from aliexpress for 2-3 USD). It`s an adapter that`s put between the mech hanger and rear mech to enable the use of larger cassettes.
The long awaited classic build!!
It was worth the wait, looks fantastic.
Bravo Jourdain, your content has been missed.
Thanks a lot! Appricate that

Holy Molly, I though you gave up on YT! Glad to see you back and thank you for the vid!
Thank you! It’s been a very busy few months. Other things in life take priority but hopefully I’ll be posting more 👍🏼
I hope the wedding planning isn't too stressful
Hi Jourdain! Love your videos mate. Watching from Sydney Australia 🇦🇺 Keep up the awesomeness.
Awesome! Thank you!
Good seeing you back! Congrats on the bun in the oven!!
Thank you! Also, cheers for your support over the years 👍🏽 Exciting times with the 👶🏽 on the way!!
@@JourdainColeman I hope you have a beautiful, healthy baby. Enjoy your time together as it goes quick.
Good to see you J back at it. Great video as always.
Thanks man! I hope you are all good?
@@JourdainColeman my pleasure. All is good, thank you.
Good to see you are back. 🎉
He's back
Great watch!

I'll see how it goes... Not really a fan of this tape. Good to know I can be a little bit more brutal with it!
I immediately saw the fault with the cassette.
With that chain problem: I would have removed the jockey wheels in order to route the chain...
Ahhhh…. Good point! If I’m in that situation again I’ll do that for sure. Hopefully not though 😂 Cheers for mentioning
Cheers, very nice.
Glad you enjoyed it
Lovely bike, you did well getting all the parts for such a bargain.. that frame looks like it's had a professional respray at some point.
Some of the vintage parts are just amazing. Built to last and look the part as well. The frames paint was immaculate so it wouldn't surprise me 👌🏼
Awesome build!
Glad you like it!

That drop link extender would have worked a treat! In fact I may pick one up. Cheers for mentioning 👍🏼
Pps really enjoyed the video 👍
Hi! Can you explain what you mean with the tire brand name and the valve? Is it just something aesthetic, or does it serve some function?
Goat link....

Careful with the brake release, not sure they are fully closed in the final video sequence
Good spot 👍🏽

I'll check them out 👍🏽
I always use the pins that’s on the chain just don’t fully remove the pin, never had a chain snap
Hello, could you please post some AliExpress bike pedal reviews for both flat and clipless?
I'll have a lok and see what I can find 👍🏽
Flip that caliper lever down!😉
👀
Get yourself a gear hanger extender buddy. I happily run a 11-36 10s cassette with a DA 7800 rear mech. 5quid off ebay for an extender.
Fun fact, 11spd chains works better on 10spd than 10spd specific, are more durable and cheaper usually, added benefit is a quick link
Well I never!! I just had a Google and I see what you are saying. I may just give it a try. 👍🏽
Somebody already said but you could of just got a direct link for the rear derailleur hanger which moves the derailleur down a little bit, to use a larger cassette with a short cage derailleur
I few people have mentioned, that would have been a good solution. I may actually get one so I can use the larger cassette. 🤔
where you been
Live has taken ovee! Hopefully I can post some more now
You should have knocked out the races and re-grease then, or better put some anti-seise compound to prevent them from bonding to the frame.
Te voy a dar un consejo:
Lee las documentaciones de los componentes.

Don’t really work puts the mech to far away from cassette
@Stevehatesgravel works fine on my bike without any issued
Try Lizard Skin tape.
