Probably the best guitar lesson I’ve watched this year … this guy is one of the best. Thanks so much for sharing.
Thank you! I really appreciate that. More coming this weekend :)
It finally clicked tonight. Forget everything you have heard about the CAGED system. Everyone needs to hop aboard this guys sh*t. He is on another level.
Thank you! Lots more guitar lessons on the channel and our Patreon group if you haven't already tried it... www.patreon.com/guitarlessonsvancouver
It's all about triads and their inversions, the CAGED system is a way to visualize those. I visualize the CAGED system as just 3 shapes, as there are only 3 inversions. The problem with guitar players is that they start with the cowboy chords, move to bar chords and pentatonics and then get stuck. I was thought this by a friend who plays the piano. He asked why I was playing these big doubled chords all the time. He then showed me inversions and voice leading on the piano which makes it easier to understand.
Wow! I LOVE this lesson! You are giving great ideas for adding some nicer sounds to chords. Thanks Blue! 💥🥂
Thank you! Glad it helped!

Thank you! 😃 glad to hear it!
Knowing the CAGED 10:07 system is definitely beneficial. Blue is just a great teacher, and shows how chords, scales, and triads etc.,are all related.
I know the caged system and all my pentatonics quite well..the major scale and a bit of the modes. He just puts it all together on another level.
A great teacher.A very musical player
Love to see a lesson on adding model touches to pentatonic The tricks to sound better

Great lesson, Blue. After two plus years of playing, finding chords on different places on the neck has finally ceased being a struggle. And the little colors you can add, it’s a wonderful thing. Thanks!

Wonderful lesson and great playing, thanks so much!
Thank you! Lots more guitar lessons on the channel 🎸
5:54 AC/DC does not play the major third of a regular G Chord. The a string is muted and the open b string plays the 3rd fret, the D note: 3-X-0-0-3-3 -> G - X - D - G - D - G
Usually in rock etc on distortion overdrive sounds the major 3rd are not played because it can sound quite muddy. That's why power chords are used a lot in rock, metal, etc. The chord I described is just that one big power chord.
Then again, he said almost, which is spot on as I'm 1000% sure he knows this.
True, the thirds would normally be muted in an ACDC song. Thanks for posting. More coming this Saturday!
Thanks so much for your lessons. I've learned a lot.
Glad to hear it! Lots more lessons coming here to the channel and our Patreon group!
Great lesson. “5 essentials” deserve 5 chapter markings in the description. It would increase the views by making the video more useful for later reference. Just a suggestion. Keep up the good work!
Thank you! Some YT advisers say chapter markings help viewership, some say it actually hurts viewer retension. I don't know which is true. I can add them for this video. On the road this weekend but will try adding them when I'm back. Thanks for watching 🎸😎
Thanks a lot for the ideas to enhance rhythm improvisation. Cheers from Indonesia.
There is a chance that your guitar made in Indonesia too. 🙂
Thank you! Glad it was helpful! That guitar was made in Korea in the 90s. But I know lots of quality guitars are coming from Indonesia now. Thanks for watching 🎸
Awesome!
Thank you! Lots more guitar lessons on the channel :)
Thanks! LOVE yer guitar ...
Thank you! It's a Korean made Samick from the 1990s. Great guitar I got from a pawn shop long time ago.
Poetry in motion..!
Thank you!!
I really love your lessons. You do a great job and are always interesting. Question you mention the key of A but isn’t this progression in the key of D. I ask because I always get the D and A keys confused. Thanks and keep the lessons coming!
Thank you! Good question. I would say it's really A Mixolydian.
Sorry meant to add more there, it's A Mixolydian because A sounds as the tonic. So it woukd be I, IV and bVII. It's a funny thing because key of D woukd have the same chords, but in this case A chord sounds like home.
@@GuitarLessonsVancouver got it! Thanks so much. The modes! Your lessons have been great. Heading over to your patreon page!
Great lesson. Great ideas to spice up rhythm guitar. Cheers from the Philippines.
But what about if Minor chords? can you still apply this?
Would you please tell me which model of Samick guitar are you using in this video? Has it been customized in any way? Please let me know. Thank you!
It's the original Samick SAT 650 made in Korea in the 90s. All stock components. Been playing it since the 90s :) samick.fandom.com/wiki/SA#SAT-650_%22Kingston_Classic%22
Groovy!
Thank you as always!!
The A and A/d is from Free - All Right Now
I love that song. Great riff 😎🎸

Sorry to hear that! Thanks for watching the video!
I only date lead guitarists.
There are a lot of them. Some good, some not so good... in character that is 😆
Guess you're pretty much solo most of of the time :)
