On September 15, 1950, United Nations troops, commanded by U.S. Gen. Douglas MacArthur, landed on Wolmido Island and retook Incheon before pushing onto Seoul. The landing turned the tides after the South Korean and UN forces had been pushed back to Busan early in the Korean War.
Several hundred Korean 😢civilians were killed in the dropping of 93 napalm bombs. The battle was inspiration for the North Korean war film Wolmi Island produced in 1982.

Wow! A single gun crew with limited ammunition is able to cause massive damage to the US Navy, I find that completely ... if this were North Korea, I probably would be shot for saying more. Meanwhile, the defiant act of a "US Marine" realizing he was lied to by MacArthur, now that was oscar material.
According to Wiki, three destroyers were inflicted with minor damage and only one sailor was killed during the first day of bombardment. Overrall Wolmido was quickly overwhelmed once the invasion of Inchon started. Interestingly, hundreds of civilians were killed due to the dropping of naplam by US bombers on the island. Now if North Korea wanted to point to the US as this evil imperialist empire, the death of innocent civilians had a better propaganda value.
