I work at a liquor store, and have for over 4 years. Any time a beer delivery comes to the store, I always make sure to help the delivery guys out as much as possible. Why? Because if I put myself in their shoes, and if I were them, I would like to be in and out as quick as possible. Especially given how many stores they have to deliver to in a single day, and especially given how much product they have to deliver in each store. I work 8 hrs/day at my store, what is 30min-45 min. sacrificing by helping them out? It is sacrificing nothing. I have other employees that work during the same shift I do. And I'll be damned if I'll see any of them standing around doing nothing when these beer delivery guys are coming thru and busting their butt. So yeah, long story short...it isn't the beer delivery guy's job to make sure the shelves are stocked and whatnot. Its actually the responsibility of the individuals working at said liquor store.
I'm glad and appreciate the fact that you think that way! Most distributors dont care. I live in western pa and I hate delivering to Sheetz, Getgos, Giant eagles and Speedways. They scan stuff in and it takes a while and if they dont scan correctly then you have to wait! I dont even know why they get an invoice plus they have time restrictions so you have to get in before 11am before lunch rush because they wont except the delivery. Walmart in are area will be selling alcohol too and I dread that day. I might bid into the warehouse and just stay in the warehouse because anymore driving is a pain in the ass!
the store i was at, we are not allowed to touch it just incase something breaks and we get blamed. they dont have to fill coolers and shelves (they make mess anyway), just stack them in the backroom and get their check(s). one time id seen 8 to 9 stacks of beer go domino effect and a delivery guy looked right at me. im like “do you want to see the camera? i was nowhere near you.” that was like $800 broken bottles and cases i didnt have to worry about except help them clean up. anyway funny thing is im gonna be working as a delivery driver starting next week. so at least i know what to expect.

@@MrWillyWonka thank you! and yeah i mean not all of them were bad. many of them took their job seriously but there were a few that just wanted to fill their driving experience for their resume (6 months to a year) so they can get a better job at food service trucks (90k a year!!), make way much more than your average beverage deliveries for doing the same work. its a hard work i understand but they looked so miserable and probably couldn't wait to get out lol.
The pallet rollers are nice. In the northeast we do not have the floor space to bring that in. Plus so many people coming and going would really get in the way. Half the time the guy that checks you in is behind the counter and you have to yell what you have every time you walk in the door with a stack. Then he wants you to put it in the cooler.

I used to work at Hensley. I still use their handtruck!! Now I'm at a different Budweiser wholesaler
Slave ass job for minimal pay. Did it for 5 years. Now I’m happily with frito lay making double. Working half the hours from L&F Dist. out in TX
