So from left to right on the stage (for those who don't know who this fabulous ensemble is) you have Richard Tee on the Fender Rhodes, Eric Gale on guitar, Will Lee on bass, Gadd on drums, Ralph MacDonald on percussion and Rob Mounsey on keyboards. Beautiful times.
Legendary! Also, seated in the background is Hagi, the "godfather" of Yamaha drums and designer of the Recording Series. He brought plenty of sizes to Steve :)
WOW. I've been to Japan, I've owned Yamaha drums, and I've been a big fan of all these cats in the session. To be in the presence of these individuals IN Japan IN the 80's would have been a magical experience. Thanks for sharing this footage.
When a video starts off with Ralph McDonald, Eric Gale, you know it's going to be good. And that distinctive Tee sound!!! Way to make me feel home here. And of course, Mr Watanabe.

Thanks. I was trying to figure out who the keyboard player was. Rob Mounsey worked with Steve Khan a lot.
@@BurnsTennis Rob Mounsey also produced "Passion Fruit" from Michael Franks, and made great contributions to "Gaucho" and " The Nightfly"
@@yulbrenner5526wow! cool to know! thank you!

Great, great stuff....with only legendary musicians. Sadao is still alive and 91 years old (who says cigarettes kill you ;))) !!!
Isnt this band called Stuff?
Man I love this sound.
Takes me right back to the eighties.
LEGENDS!
Cool seeing Will Lee before his Letterman gig.

I’m a fairly decent musician but I would love to be able to play a sax like that
Eric Gale playing an aria Pro II TA series guitar.

did Sadao ever record any straight ahead stuff early in his career?
Different time, all the cats are puffing moes…
Sadao doesn't understand off-beat.
Look at GADD's face.
