Marie-Anne, I skip all of those steps since I automatically keep all of my footwear, even sneakers, in their original boxes with the paper shapers stuffed inside from the day of purchase. I clean suede shoes/boots only before wearing them & polish smooth leather shoes/boots also before wearing them. Leather footwear left out gathers dust & the leather dries up or cracks. Clean toothbrushes are good for cleaning suede footwear & bags. An instant shoe polish sponge cleans & shines leather footwear & leather bags. My summer footwear boxes are stacked on top of each other on the floor of my summer clothing closet with clearly visible labels. The same goes for my shoes & boots in their original boxes which are stacked on top of each other on the floor in my winter closet.
I store my shoes in plastic shoe boxes and label each side. I save silica gel packs for each box to repel moisture. If the shoes have dust bags I wrap them in the bag before placing them into the shoe box. I also make sure I still want to keep them - no point in keeping shoes you no longer need or love or don't fit properly. Excellent advice! 😍❤️☺️🥰😊
Yes Katrinacool I do the same thing. I have run out of plastic boxes so I have kept some nice solid boxes that open like a drawer. I just take a photo of the shoes and print it out and tape to the front of the box.
Excellent Katrina 👏 merci for sharing your extra tips 😘
As some of my shoes are over 30 years old ( and yes, I’m still wearing them ) the boxes finally disintegrated and I had to replace them with plastic ones which gives a more uniform effect in my shoe cupboard plus I can see the contents at a glance . Thank you for reminding me about the silica gel packs though , shoes can go mouldy in plastic boxes - maybe choose those with air holes in them ?
I do this also- but remember to store them HIGH or UP on a shelve, to avoid cools moisture that falls in cold weather. Like purses- good leather should be UP!
Marie-Anne, I always take good care of my clothes and shoes. I learned that when I was a child in Finland, money was scares so we kids needed to polish and wipe our shoes and boots. I actually like doing it and give me a pile of clothes to iron, I'm happy to do it. Coco is a good supervisor, I think under that super dog's eyes you can't miss a spot. Can't wait for the next video.
Bonjour Tuija - looking after your clothes does save a lot of money in the long run - they last longer, look better and help you look better too - win win win 😃
This is wonderful, Marie-Anne! As a shoe lady I couldn't click faster! I've been following your helpful advice from previous videos about shoes quite a while and it's life-changing. I also keep some boxes including fillers to keep their shape. In fact I find cleaning and looking after them enjoyable and therapeutic. Love all your shoes and this tour through your beautiful house is such a lovely treat. Merci beaucoup 🤗❤👠🌟🎉
I am glad you enjoyed it AW 🤗
I have no room to store all my shoes in their boxes. I clean/polish/brush my shoes and boots regularly, including applying any waterproofing. One idea for storage: a mesh laundry bag, which holds several pairs and protects the shoes from dust but allows for some air circulation. I store them under my bed, which also has drawers built into the bedframe. (Thank you, IKEA.). And because the bag is not rigid, it’s easier to store things by moving the shoes around inside the bag to help the bag lie flatter.
😃👍
I too love looking after my clothes Marie-Anne, but I’m a bit lazier when it comes to shoes 😮so a timely video 😊
Thank you for the cheeky peek inside your restored house. Looks very lovely !
😘
I do exactly the same twice a year, Marie Anne! Making this video was a very good idea! A lot of people consider this routine a waste of time!
I am glad you enjoyed it Fanny x
Thank you for this very helpful video! I not only learned your use of driving shoes, which I didn't know, I also got to see more of your beautiful amazing home. You and Carl have done a lot of work. You and Carl are such a beautiful couple. He's such a great helper in your live videos. I enjoy both of your sense of humor. Thank you 😊
Merci Chirp Chirp 🤗
Thank you, Marie-Anne. Such practical, common sense tips. I usually take off my shoe when driving but I like your idea better. I'm taking a pair of shoes for driving down to the car now!
😃🙌
I’ve never really thought of having a specific pair of driving shoes but it makes a lot of sense especially here in the US where we drive every day, sometimes several times a day.
😃👍
I keep my boxes too and restore them in the correct box. That way I know what's in each box. I only have a few left that are in different boxes. It makes storage easier because I can stack boxes. My husband also polishes my shoes and I iron his shirts.
Nice division of family jobs.
My husband lends a hand too Kristine 😃 he is very good at ironing and polishing ❤️
Bonjour Marie-Anne, I clean and store my out-of-season shoes exactly the same way you do! :) Except I wear an apron for the cleaning part, and/or do this on a surface protected by an old newspaper, just like my dear parents did. Thank you so much for the wonderful glimpses inside your beautiful home 🥰 Such gorgeous rooms and your kitchen is so perfect and inviting!💖
I keep the original boxes to store them in. I also wash the soles to remove the street dirt.
I always keep all my boxes and because with my amount of shoest I mark the shoe boxes, like you Marie-Anne my shoes look good for years. Love all your hard work in your house, would love a tour
What a beautiful house you have!! Great tips, thanks.
Merci Beatriz x
I have too many shoes for boxes. I would have shoes to the ceiling.😂
You are my kind of girl Shawndra 🤗
I live in Finland, where it is not particularly hot.)) In any weather, I wear comfortable shoes, the heels of which cannot be dirty by the rubber mat of the car. And I take the shoes I need with me.
Thank you for the interesting video and a short tour of your Palace! ❤
I put some mint in a cloth and put them in my shoes when I store them. They smell better and keep their shape.
That is a lovely idea Judy 😃
12:38 have you done a house tour? I would love to see your beautiful home. TYIA❤😊
We did a house tour on my other channel JKK before the renovations - we can't get the time to get back to that channel unfortunately 🙁
Such a beautiful place to live. Inspirational. Thank you. I save my shoe boxes to put them away when not being worn. It is easy to stack the boxes and easy to identify the shoes inside except that I buy many of the same brand but in different colors.
I was used to maintaining shoes, clothes and hand bags. However, some have never adopted this habit or may have gotten out of the habit because of items that are replaced with high frequency, quicker turn-over of some items.
Thank you so much for this 👠🥿 video! Just what I needed to see 🥰👏
You are very welcome Nina x
Bonjour Marie-Anne! Thank you so much for the tour! 🤗What a beautiful home! 🤩The armoire is so gorgeous. I definitely wear driving shoes. Since I have two large wardrobes, I can keep all my shoes there all year long stored in transparent boxes with a silica gel sachet to prevent mildew. When I wear my shoes, I let them breathe for at least 24 hours and clean them before putting them back in their box. They are always dust free and I can see them easily in the boxes. Thank you! 🥰
Glad you enjoyed it 😃 love your shoe set up ideas 👍
@@MarieAnneLecoeur 🥰
Oh Marie-Anne, I love seeing little shots of your gorgeous manor home.
It looks like you are making good progress.
How are the pastures and barn coming along?
The shoe video is awesome! ❤
Merci Barb 🤗 We lost some tiles on the barns in the big storm and my husband has had to spend a lot of time repairing those rather than getting on with work in and around the house. Two steps forward and one back 😘 hence no videos on my other channel for over a year 🙁
Equally therapeutic for the watcher great video thank you🎉
😘 glad you enjoyed it Nicole
I have cleaned my sandals and boxed them up for winter. My sling backs live to fight another day. Not sure for how much longer though. I did get an idea when watching your video though. My out of season shoe boxes have always lived in the bottom of my wardrobe but seeing you move yours to a storage room I thought mine could go in the attic, which is boarded out. For the past five years we have been storing my daughter’s household items but she moved this spring so space is free.
Sounds perfect sue 😃
I store my shoes in plastic
Boxes with a picture of one shoe placed on the outside of the box. Polaroid is great but regular picture works too. Love seeing Coco and more of your home. Cheers. ❤
Nice Elaine 😃👍
Je vis en Afrique du Sud et nous tendons vers l'été mais cependant je trouve cette vidéo très pertinente pour mes chaussures d'hiver. Merci Marie-Anne pour le partage ❤
😘🤗
😊thank you for another video of great advice & practical tips, you have inspired me continually & helped me keep my clothes organsed which makes me feel better. I will look for a pair of driving shoes this afternoon.. what a brilliant idea ❤
You have a beautifull home which is a true reflection of you as a person. Thank you again .❤
Merci Rhiannon 🤗
Always loved shoes and your tips are much appreciated, dear Marie-Anne. My oldest pair is already 20 years old and still with plenty of wear left. Merci 🙏🏻❤🥿
That is fantastic AW my oldest are my black knee length boots from Bally 🖤
I use silica dry packs in all my shoe boxes and I drop a couple of packets into the shoe organizer in the hallway where I store my everyday shoes.
Also, whenever I wear close toe shoes or boots I put silica dry packs in the toe box of the shoes as soon as I take them off. This way, even my tennis shoes and hiking boots smell fresh after years of heavy use.
Putting silica gel into Sport shoes is an excellent idea, of course also in the out of season shoes. I'll be going to copy your idea, thank you so much 🙋♀️😁.
Excellent Buzzy Street 👏
Wonderful video. I have my shoemaker add a slip-resistant sole to my shoes, which protects me from falling and prolongs the life of the shoes. Also, I am packing some of my summer shoes in a suitcase along with a capsule summer wardrobe to be ready for a warm-weather holiday. This will make it easy to travel and to focus on dressing appropriately for autumn and winter (as I am in denial that the short British summer has ended)! A bientot
Non slip soles are a good idea Kate 😃👍
So nice to see your supervisor Coco ❤making an appearance!
🐾❤️
Well, I only wear my drivers (turquoise suede moccasins) to sit on the porch, like an outdoor houseshoe. Driving is only 5 minutes max in my small town. Love the video as always. 💕
I use a bit of eucalyptus oil to remove stickiness from labels. It is very effective
Great advice! Also, your home is as elegant as you are!❤
Merci Kim x
For the record- wishing you an amazing 🤩 afternoon ahead and and as well a terrific evening this evening
Merci Michelle 😘
❤❤❤Aaah!! What a beautiful tour of your house! Wow!
🤗
Dear Marie-Anne! I'm starting to store my winter shoes (South América), I too clean them thoroughly, use boxes and also have plastic storage bags, organise and store. It's worth the effort to avoid pollution! Best regards! 😀🌺
😘
Marie-Anne great advice and I have driving shoe's and put the other shoes on when I stop much more comfortable. Love your library the house is beautiful. xx
Merci Jacqui 🤗
Box storing after having cleaned the shoes out of season together with silica gel is the very best idea. 😊
💯👍
Wow you have a lot of shoes! Thank you for the tips!
When I buy shoes I keep boxes and put the shoes back (for seasonal storage) in the box - easy done.
💯👍
5:54 Yes!! I actually do use driving shoes 😅😊 I love shoes so I do take care of my shoes ❤😅
My kind of girl JKK 🤗
Marie Anne I love the suit you wear ❤
Merci Lucja 🤗
I like the idea of driving shoes. The heels of my right shoe always get scuffed.
A driving moccasin is a great investment Diana 😃
My shoe tip would be to know when to let go of your shoes, whether to the trash or to donate. If the shoes are no longer comfortable, no longer pretty, worn out, or just not being used anymore(donate time?)... it's time.
I like so much you use the boxes after shoes, and not buying the plastic ones! 😊😊💚 And I love your old house with soul! 😍
🤗
After decades, the cardboard boxes *do* disintegrate and replacing them with plastic ones is a kind of inevitability .
Oh, I believe in a meantime you will buy new shoes and new boxes will come to replace the old ones 🤭
@@karop4733 - guilty as charged ! 🤷♀️🤗
Useful tips and Coco wants to help also 🙂
🐾
Good idea... driving shoes 😊
😃👍
This is helpful.
🤗
Bon jour Marie Anne. Good timing! Just started putting away my summer shoes today.
😃👍
Mentioned in the Daily Telegraph UK today Marie Anne, by a reader like myself, fed up with fashion articles written by people with massive budgets , and impossibly good figures and and unnaturally youthful faces!. Of course I seconded her opinion too
Oh My - I haven't heard about this at all Franma - it would be lovely to see the article/mention could you perhaps email it to me at info@marieannelecoeur.com? I tried searching the DT but it didn't show up. Thank you for your support I appreciate it very much 🙏
Oh I managed to find it 😃 A Big Merci to Maggie Scott for the recommendation and the mention 🙏 and of course to you Franma for letting me know and for seconding her 🤗
@@MarieAnneLecoeur , You are so very welcome, I now only watch to you and the other stylist, having given up on many others who either rehash content from others or have no taste! Have a great weekend x
Ooh yes Marie Anne you would be awesome in elevating the fashion advice in the Daily Telegraph!!!
Bonjour! Coco was making sure you stored your shoes properly!! Thanks for the reminder. I don’t always clean my shoes when I put them away seasonally! I even have all of the supplies to do it. I could not find your brown & white loafers but I did find some at G H Bass that I will order this month. I haven’t seen your cooking videos lately. I will have to look for them!
Bonjour Sharon Coco was the chief shoe inspector 😃 my second channel and cooking videos have suffered terribly I am afraid 🙁
@@MarieAnneLecoeurOh, I was concerned about that. It was always relaxing to watch them! 💕🥂
Merci for your concern Sharon - nothing to be worried about we are just so super busy we haven't got time to maintain two channels 😃
The is a very useful video. Thanks for sharing your tips and your spaces as well.
😘
I learned the hard way to not wear pale colours in the rain.
Somewhat off topic Marie-Anne, who plays the ‘cello? I spotted it as we walked through one of your rooms.
I don’t find shoe cleaning therapeutic at all, but I do what you do because I am very fussy about the state of my shoes as well as any shoes in the house that are not mine. I don’t have driving shoes because I’m not running a car at this time. However, do you find the same sort of damage to the back of the heels can happen just by walking down a flight of stairs in them? Particularly those without a carpet.
That is my husband's Karen 🎻 yes the heels can get scuffed walking down stairs - we have to be careful because of the stone stairs in the tower so I only put my outdoor shoes on at the front door 😃
Love Coco ❤️ I have 4 Chihuahuas! Thank you for the advice Marie x
🐾❤️
Excellent video
Miss Marie-Anne your shoes is good clean darling to put in the boxes and nice advice too my Beautiful Teacher l love you 😘❤️
Merci Hector
You're welcome my sweet queen
Clean . . then place in a dark wardrobe.
Save silica packets that come in pills and in mail orders. That helps in my humid climate. One packet or two in each box. PS,I LOVE YOUR HOUSE!
Merci Reina x
Yes, I too use driving shoes. 🎉
😃👍
I have a couple pair of driving shoes/moccasins. ❤them
I clean my shoes daily
I keep the original shoe boxes and use these.
I don't really have driving shoes but I definitely don't drive in some of my shoes. So when I'm wearing these I drive in others and only change into the evening shoes, or ones that would be ruined by driving, when I arrive at the destination.
I do know my daughter does similar. She's in a job that she changes into better shoes at work. She has kept shoes in her desk drawer for that purpose.
As a perioperative nurse the shoes I wear to work are always changed into my pair of theatre shoes when I arrive.
This actually also means I can kept down the number of shoes I need too.
Same applies to clothing. When you wear scrubs, or any other uniform for work you don't need wardrobes full of clothing. (It does mean you're changing clothes multiple times in the day 🤣)
I don’t keep all the boxes. Any other suggestions.
Plastic shoe containers or plastic containers. More durable then cardboard boxes.
If you sew, can make shoe bags.
Lakeland Plastic sells plastic shoe boxes….I get two pairs in one box.
You've got some great suggestions already here Victoria 😃 clear boxes are good for seeing at a glance what you have 👍
Boxes are too bulky to store. I put my shoes in a large travel suitcase.
I need therapy to part with shoes I like but don't wear for various reasons, it's even more difficult to part with shoes than clothes.
I hear you Lynne 🙏
I ckean my shoes every time I wear them, especially the soles. I don't like putting soiled shoes back in my closet. I keep alot of my shoes in plastic boxes. Not sure if that is bad for leather?
If they have breathing holes to allow air to circulate that is fine or you can use silica gel saches😃
@@MarieAnneLecoeur I do use the silica saches. Thanks Marie Anne!
I have to ask, I have a very nice pair of RLR black riding boots. What is the best way to protect the boots from the elements before wearing them in the Fall and Winter wet and cold weather?
I find a waterproof spray perfect for protecting them Barbara
the best thing to do is wash and brush them
❤ 🐶 ❤
Love your videos and fashion style. But this time I want to see a House Tour😊Thank You..
I will try to add more of the house in in future videos Sindi 😘
@@MarieAnneLecoeur Thank you so very much... I will be looking forward to that .
A real "shoe in!"
😃👍
I just kick off my right shoe when I drive to save the back of the heel!
🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️
I have driving shoes believe it or not.
👍😃
I’d rather create art or music than do all this work! 🤪
I have a pair of red buttery soft leather shoes that are designed as driving shoes. They have grippers on the bottom and up the back. I love them and wear them every time I drive.
I have shoes, bags and clothes that I've had for decades that are still beautiful, because I take care of them. I take my shoes to the cobbler when they need repairing. We have only one cobbler in my city and I hope he doesn't retire anytime soon, because I don't know what I would do without him.
xo~linda
Thank you for your advice on stiletto shoes, Marie-Anne. It made me remember our wedding day, when the heel of one of my white stilettos got stuck in the grate, as I walked up the aisle! Driving shoes? Yes, I wear them! And I love those decorative sling-backs.
OM Gosh Nicky I hope it didn't ruin your day 😮 things like this sometimes make the day 👍
And I'm interested to see a cello standing up in the corner of one of the rooms - does somebody play?
That is my husband Nicky 🎻
@@MarieAnneLecoeur Fortunately, all was well, Marie-Anne!
@@MarieAnneLecoeur Excellent!
Bon Jour! I have to share that I just came back from France where I traveled on the Seine from Paris to Normandy. What a lovely experience. Such a beautiful area I appreciate your videos and your knowledge. Thank you.
I am so glad you enjoyed your time here Linda - please hurry back 😘
