  • The Post visited Deep Roots CPS Urban Farm in west Charlotte, where Wisdom and Cherie Jzar produce fruits, vegetables and livestock on their 7-acre spread to sell direct to the community. Black farmers are in decline, making up just 1.4% of 3.4 million family producers in the United States, according to the Department of Agriculture. In North Carolina, Black people run about 1,500 of the state's 46,000 farms.
