Thank you so much for sharing the tips on the blade baits. I just started fishing them this year. I pretty much just use a vertical jigging technique. It's been successful for crappie, but haven't been able to get on a good largemouth bite. I'll have to use more of the crank and retrieve you mentioned. I always use flouro, never thought about the benefit of what mono could do. It's super generous of you guys to just freely share so many secrets and tips to help make so many of us better anglers. It is greatly appreciated. God bless you my friends.
I bought every bait in this video. I bought 2 from the last video and I caught bass on both. You guys are so informative and introduce baits I’ve never heard of. Keep it up please!
"Epic" and "lights out" are not words I'd use to describe fall fishing in SE New England. Luckily, TW had Damiki Vaults on sale last week, so I'm stocked up for winter. Thanks for the great videos!
Hey Tim that is a nice crappie for the frying pan Yeah buddy . Excellent blade bait video God bless you and Matt and your families your pal fisherman Mike from Missouri.
Catching fish and how to properly take out the hook and properly release them! Such an important topic that people do not understand which kills many fish a year! Huge topic!
Guys - Welcome to Tennessee! I've enjoyed your videos now for a few months, and I appreciate your knowledge and professionalism. I have to say, I'm getting a bit of "tackle fatigue", and I appreciate better your education on fish movements and location techniques. Hey, just input from one guy, and I know you have to make a living!
Like you, I keep a lipless crank bait tied on all the time. My PB largemouth came on a "real" Bill Lewis Rat L' Trap back in 2004 on a 1/2 oz copper colored one (only one I have ever seen) at Lake Sinclair in Milledgeville, GA. Thanks for the tips for moving to blade baits when the lipless crank starts to go away. Learned something today.
Here's a blade bait trick that'll make your head spin...invest in a RED SHARPIE marker, color in a pea-sized red dot on BOTH sides of the blade, just behind where the head protrudes near where the "gill" would be on the actual blade bait (on the flatter part of the blade bait). Your blade bait will catch a lot more fish with this simple modification. It's especially effective on solid color blade baits - silver, gold, etc. Try it out, you won't be disappointed with the results. I fish blade baits year round...they catch everything in the Great Lakes...smallmouth bass, walleye, freshwater drum, and trout. Super effective baits when hopped off the bottom. They get crushed on the descent back to the bottom.
I have really just started getting into throwing blade baits and I gotta say, I have already caught so many more smallies than I would with what I would normally be throwing and I am still in the early stages of learning it, can't wait till I really figure it out lol it'll game over for the smallmouth
Lol..I can imagine its hard doing a video out on the water at a good spot with fish all around you. It would turn a 10 minute video into a 45 minute video because I would be casting every sentence. Great video Tim. I just used a blade bait for the 1st time a couple weeks ago and burned em up.
I tried em for the 1st time just a couple weeks ago at Brookville Lake in Indiana and burned them up. Caught a ton of nice crappies, bass and a few walleye. It was fun. I found out I need to use slightly heavier line or a heavier leader because while vertical jigging i kept getting tangled in the trebles.
@@420RyanBruce or another tip is when you lift up to jig lower your pole a little slower than just dropping it. Allows bait to flutter but keeps line semi tight out of the way of the hook! Fish on!!
Love watching! Some of the best info and tips! Wish you guys had come up to Lake Shasta and given us more excellent advice for our sometimes challenging lake. Two tips for your videos; please get a small white board or something to show the baits while on the boat and get a small lamp or light to improve the visual presentation. My only complaints about TB is that when baits are described and shown they are shown to quickly in darker lighting. Congratulations on the success of Tactical Bassin'!!!
Thanks! Bought some blades, caught 5 fish by lunch, 4 on blades, the "dink" of the bunch was a 2lbr. 3 over 3lbs on blades! Would have never bought some unless I watched this video
Im not distracted at all when you go after schooling fish while talking. Gives me a chance to see how you're workin the bait. In fact, that's one of the things I'd like to see more of is actually working the rod and bait vs talking about it. Talking about it is effective but seeing it visually worked has more permanence.
Never thought about these for bass. I use them for walleye mostly but I brought in a monster large mouth yesterday on a blade bait. Completely caught me off guard
On my last tackle warehouse order I came across a bait called the 'lunkerhunt hatch natural' and hatch spin. They're 1oz baits, not exactly blade baits but almost the same profile with super, super realistic paint jobs! Haven't tried it yet, but I highly recommend them!
Thanks for the tips and recommendations! I haven't used blade baits before but I'm looking to start fishing them this fall and winter so this video helps a lot. I'll definitely start with some of the baits you mentioned. Quick question: what are your thoughts on blade baits with tail spinners? Do you throw any of those at all? If so do you use them in different conditions than a regular blade bait?
Hey Tim I changed out the split rings and hooks like you advised I don't have a medium action is my 7ft med- heavy glass composite crankbait rod another option tell me what you think or do I really need to get a medium action bait caster . The blade bait I'm useing is a damiki vault blade in the 1/2 oz size . Hey Tim you wanna tell me how you guys fit all that great information in your head's hey Tim god bless you and Matt's family your pal fisherman Mike.
Here in Australia we have the eco-gear zx prawn blades with a pair of assist hooks... I recommend you guys track them down cause no other blades come close to the capture returns/rates...regards B.J.
Thank you new to the channel great information specially as a new fishing one question to you tie a loop onto bait? Thank you great vedio if you answer that question that will be great till next time here from Boston ma..
@TacticalBassin saw a couple comments down below curious myself about the weights which you'd prefer and if there is a difference in action between the various weights?
Great video Tim !! What baits and colors would you use for Smallies and spots specifically or would they be the same ? Thanks again for your information.
Do you ever use the giant blade baits. I have a huge Silver Buddy I've never fished yet. Picked it up for $3 new. Got a deal on that one. They list price for much more. What is that black thing flying behind you at 10:55? Watch it as it about to disappear on the right. It stops twice and accelerates twice at amazing speeds. I thought it was a clitch in the camera but your speed or talking didn't change. Looks like a plane.
What is the water temps that you are seeing at chick? Lake Norman in NC is about 70. I always assumed that water temps needed to be cooler to start in with blades.
Do you have to use them around grass? One of my favorite lakes doesn't have many weeds, but it's filled with shad. Any tips for fishing them in other situations?
Must be nice to be able to fish lakes packed with bass crashing all over the place. Here in New Jersey you can fish a lake all day and throw everything you have at them and go home skunked day after day. Still, being out fishing is better than just about anything else, but I get so jealous watching these videos. :-(
Matt and Tim...quick question please Tackle Warehouse has Curado 7'6 heavy flipping stick on sale for 100 bucks and I know in the past you have recommended the SLX for a budget flipping stick. My question is for a 100 bucks what's better Curado or SLX?? Thx

I'm having a problem with my silver buddy fouling the front hook often during the retrieve. Any idea to solve this problem. As always, I love your channel.
william garland I would try to downsize the hook on the front or use a short shank version of the same sized hook that's on there now. I have been using VMC Hybrid Treble hooks, both short and regular shank, on lipless crankbaits and blade baits and they are great hooks plus they are not very expensive.

Catching fish and how to properly take out the hook and properly release them! Such an important topic that people do not understand which kills many fish a year! Huge topic!
Good job on the two retrieves.......thanks
Works great for early spring walleye too
Thanks Tim. Enjoyed this one.

When you start growing them let me know 😆

Gotta love catching them on the blade. I've had good luck with bass pro brand.
@Michael A-1 to be fair nearly every brand is knocking off another at this point. But I get your point
Thumbs up Tim for the video, a bait you don’t see used very often.
The Englishman. ( Nigel )

Lovin' all the fall time bait videos. Ive had great luck on jerkbaits and lipless lately. Now I've got some blades and spoons to try.
Nicely delivered info. Thanks.
thanks for the video....... would like to see some bonus video on how the fishing went after :) great job
Reminds me, I need to put those back into my box for late fall smallies.
Great tips love to use them here in Michigan right now
All winter!!!! Two at a time!!! Have fun go light spinning!!!

I just started using these bad boy and got my PB out of my local work pound with the Jackal and blade runner blade baits

Good video Tim, But the Heddon Sonar is the original Blade bait, as it debuted back in the 1960s.

First time using a blade bait a couple weeks ago and caught a 19.5 in on the Damiki Vault Black Halo. Going to try using it ice fishing this winter.

These are killer cold water walleye baits as well, they also make a super sized silver buddy that’s a great jigging bait for musky
Try Cabelas mean eye in blue chrome! I’m telling ya best bait ever!

Love the blade... still prefer using it on spinning though!
Great video thank you
The 10000 fish death stalker is so good. It’s a blade bait and tail spin combined and they seem to have a better action.

Y’all should try throwing the bass assets Kracken. It’s a one knocker squarebill that sounds awesome.
You should try the death stalker, it feels like a thunder cricket, plus it has a will on the back

How well do blades fish in/ around wood
They sink quickly, around wood you will have problems even around broken or chunk rock, it's getting the speed of retrieve that can help.

What size do you suggest for us bank fishing guy on the Damiki Vault Blade Baits?
What size clips do you typically use on these baits?
Whats the length of leader the you use?????

Can you fish this in the middle of a lake?
What about a tail spin as far as a blade bait
Tim will you only throw them in grass lakes? Or would they be just as affective on rock bottom
Leave it to tactical bassin to mention the baits i was planning to stock up on the day I'm ordering and they are sold out now. Thanks guys lol
Do you recommend the snap Tim? Or straight tie to the bait?
Just me? snaps on a blade bait, up here on Lake Erie they will even work for walleyes.
