Clearly didn't think this through... If your opposition party has control over Parliament, and they have the power to veto your martial law declaration, why would you declare martial law in the first place??? Maybe I'm stupid and missing something obvious here....?
Well, martial law veto or not the actual decision comes down to the army, if the army wants to overthrow the government protests or parliament have no real say in the matter, this dictator was putting all his eggs in one basket but the military didn't back him
The United States has roughly two months left to head in a direction similar to the political situation South Korea faced two years ago. During the pandemic, South Koreans prioritized the economy over democracy in their voting decisions. Now, the current president is on the verge of being forced to resign just 2.5 years into his 5-year term due to his incompetence and autocratic behavior in governing the country.
You're insulting both your country and mine with that statement Yoon is closer to Biden in terms of incompetence even though he is on the polar opposite side of the political spectrum But his incompetence fueled authoritarianism proves how true the horse shoe theory is Just go search up what Yoon has done during his presidency The majority of it was spent trying to indicte and incarcerate his political opposition just like how Biden did to Trump He also basically became president to cover up his wife's corruption and bribery crimes, just like how Biden just now pardoned his son for a similar laundry list of crimes Biden is every bit the authoritarian despot you wrongfully accuse Trump of being
Well good thing the US people voted in the right direction. The last 4 years were terrible.....high inflation, high taxes, high crime, and high illegal immigration. Biden/Harris led the world closer to WWIII than any administration before it.
Well it might take a lot more for Trump to be voted out when his party controls majority in House and Senate. They will not vote to impeach him I assume.
this lady newcaster very rude when she ask her colleague questions station in korea. obvious he is very young and lack experience compare to her due to age, but he reported good
He place the *martial law* as a flare to *draw attention" towards what *the opposition* was up to and what would be a *consequences* that would occur if they took power.
Throughout his term, he faced opposition and relentless calls for investigations into the illegal and unconstitutional actions of both himself and his wife, as well as demands for his impeachment. In response, he declared martial law in a blatantly unconstitutional move, bypassing due process and branding his opponents as pro-North Korean communists. However, the parliament nullified his actions within approximately 140 minutes. Now, he is left with only two paths: to press forward in an attempt to establish a dictatorship or to face investigation for rebellion and the prospect of impeachment.
"OMG, like, they don't get along n'stuff and now the government is like, taking away their civil rights. It's a total bummer but we're going to smile and pretend like it's no big deal."
It does not exist. Nobody is communist in S Korea. Thats what the Korean right wants to frame their opposition as in a form insult. Also the values of the Korean left are very very different from the US left, many countries have different virtues in their political parties - it’s not copy paste of the US left right values. For example, the Korean left endorses ethnocentric values and Korean ethno cultural preservation. The Korean right likes to counter that. This is totally an opposite of many other western nations where the right is more ethnocentrist. Due to the Korean ‘left’ being ethnocentrist, it has more softer and open policies with North Korea as all Korean heritage is of value, whilst the South Korean right sees N Korea as the ultimate enemy and even attempts to re define a separate identity of ‘South Koreaness’ that goes aginst genetics, history, or anything else.
Didn't you listen, they, like, don't get along n'stuff, so the government took away any rights they might have. It's happening everywhere, if you pay attention.
South Korean president "I was just kidding guys come on!"
The amount of soldiers and tanks deployed didn't show that...ha ha.. but he recalled them to the barracks already
Johnny Somali: i am the most hated prankster in south korea
South korea's president: hold my martial law

Well, that didn't take long. FAFO.
That’s what happened
he is dumb as can be 😂
😂like south korean men
He is done. He will be ousted by his party and opposition party. Probarbly jailed with his corrupt wife.😊
Declaring Martial law for personal reasons, is just plain crazy.
Clearly didn't think this through... If your opposition party has control over Parliament, and they have the power to veto your martial law declaration, why would you declare martial law in the first place??? Maybe I'm stupid and missing something obvious here....?
Parliament cannot vote against marshall law if the president declares it. And also members of his own party unanimously voted against it.
Actually, the national assembly members of his party also rejected the martial law declaration.
Well, martial law veto or not the actual decision comes down to the army, if the army wants to overthrow the government protests or parliament have no real say in the matter, this dictator was putting all his eggs in one basket but the military didn't back him
@@NathanScott-zz5scthey just did
@ The president did not the parliament. He was pressured by the protest and parliment vote to overturn the Martial Law.

The prank :
Is it me or the guy is trying to pull a Kim Jong-Un?
He place the *martial law* as a flare to *draw attention" towards what *the opposition* was up to and what would be a *consequences* that would occur if they took power.
I wonder what the CIA thinks?
One call from white house and the martial law vanished
It was more like a "phone call' for the martial law and the Murican century.
Your videos are always so diverse and interesting! I look forward to new releases! 🍓🌺
The worst part is the fact that military and police went along with it. Their leadership should have pushed back against the president
North Korea doesn’t need to fire anything against South Korea. Annoying moment for Japan and USA 😂
Martial law? This joker President think that there is only a couple of tourist in South Korea.
Why are tourists relevant to this?
At what time will he announce
Thanks for covering the story at least. Obviously there's more to it, seems like there's a whole lot more to the backstory.
Bro just wanted to see what it like to have power
more like Partial Law...
Thank you for the energy you put into your videos! Very inspiring! 🍒🧡
Matial law
With 17% approval and most of his cabinet gone, what is he holding on to?

Perfectly drawn public attention from Biden with his Son.
Thanks for your openness! How do you plan to develop your channel in the future? 🍭💝
Thanks for your patience and hard work! How do you evaluate the potential for new video ideas? 😻👅

The only reason I see is the popularity of 'APT globally!

Yes, he made a great decision for the south Korea and it is a necessary measure for the future in a present that is so messed up.
Web3 Infinity is gonna explode anytime soon
Reminds me of January 6th when our government when after its own people & use these networks to flip the script
What kind of comedy is this?
Thats what one phone call from Biden can do.
Dude played too much tekken and declare martial law.
Trump , Elon, and MAGA approve! (Not the lifting, but the prior declaration.)
No worries Trump. America world never protest you. You're our king. DO WHATEVER YOU PLEASE 🥰
Pro-communist protests are hillarious. People in korea are bored.
They learned well from the US
