    Your cut up method for tshirts is big improvement over mine. I’m a convert. Thank you. So far I’ve made three rugs. Cut strips about 3/4 to 1” wide. Crocheted the rugs with large hand-whittled hook my Mother’s Father made her as a child. I treasure this hook. Rugs are 2x3 and 3x5 feet. Fun to give new life to shirts destined for the landfill.
    Edited to add: I’m in my 80’s, so this heavily used and well loved hook is over 100 years old. A treasure.

    I had no idea that you could do something like that. I’ll never throw a T-shirt away again.❤

    I have seen lots of baskets crocheted with T-shirt yarn. And cat beds. And rugs. Your rug and things at the beginning of the video were nice looking. I like the idea of hot pads and such. They remind me of the loop woven things we made when children. TFS!

    I used to make infinity scarves with multiple strands of t-yarn, all different styles, and some with beads, some with fringe, some with both! This was a THING for a while back in the what? 80’s? 90’s? I can’t remember when, but I’m tickled t-yarn is making a comeback! Thank you!

    Thanks Jeri for so clearly showing the process of making this yarn. My daughter just brought me over a whole tub full of my oldest grandsons favorite Tshirts. She has been saving them all so we could make one of those Tshirt quilts for him for when he graduates HS. He is a senior this year, so now is the time. We will only be using the printed parts. I know know what I'll be making out of the parts that arent used for the quilt. T shirt yarn! ❤

      Cathy that is going to be so fun! I made one many many years ago as a commission for a woman that lost her son in an accident. He collected SO many tee shirts over the years. I made 2 one for each of the remaining sons. I'm sure you know how to make one but I would certainly be happy to share my tips of how I did mine with you. hugs!
      And YOU are going to have so much leftover tee shirt, you better make some yarn!

      @JeriBellini I will message you about it. I've never made one before and would love to have some tips from you. The ones you made I'm sure have been treasured. What a wonderful celebration of his life.

    Thanks so much for sharing this. It reminded me of when I was in the girl guides! I did my knitters badge and used T-shirt material fabric to knit a Rectangle length, in stripes, and placed it over a wooden hanger as a covering. It was a very long time ago LOL at least 50 years LOL.But my mum Absolutely loved it❤x 🥰I’m definitely going to give it another try and see what I can do it or do with it this time. Thanks again for the video you really are so clever💖

    Thank you for this video Jeri, I was just thinking about 'harvesting' some t shirt yarn but was unsure how to join the strands and then voilà this popped into my YT recommends 👍. Our village has an annual Yarn Bomb event and I'm thinking of making some big pom poms so your tutorial was parfait 👌.

    Should you wash it first before cutting if you get some new shirts...??? 🤔

    • @JeriBellini
      @JeriBellini 8 місяців тому +1

      I would because if you make something and need to wash it later it might shrink.
