I absolutely love the Cold Steel tantos! I have the Master and Recon Tanto, and just got this one, but the classic one from Japan. All amazing blades! Thanks for showing what it can do!
This noggin knocker made my noggin joggin'... This one is called pommel. I had two of this bad boys, they started my Cold Steel addiction back in the end of the 1980's. I was proud like a dog with a new bone. I don't know if it was made out of VG10 SanMai, it only said "SanMai". Later I used it a lot for meat processing. I was talking about having half a pig and a quarter of a cow every harvest, cutting it into portion size for the freezer before. The Tanto was great for this job, it took bones and ribs with ease. Thank you, Scab, for this nice and entertaining review. Watching your content has become my routine every day before I go to bed. #22aday Stay safe everybody, and stay blessed. You got my sub during the first minute of the video before we really got into the subject at hand. As a Military vet of the USAF and US Army and as a former LEO I really appreciate those people that appreciate me. Now, I really want to follow your link and get this blade from the seller on Amazon but have been reading horror stories about counterfeit junk being sold at cheap prices and being labeled as cold steel. The cold steel site wants $269.99 (no way) and the seller on Amazon wants $136.00. Helluva price drop! You have confidence in this seller and have had no problems with your knife? Some buyers are complaining about their knife not being sharp etc. Anything I ever bought from CS was a razor right out of the box. Anyway, love your humor and great video. Hope to hear back from you.
Firstly thank you for checking us out. The thing to know about cold steel's website is there MSRP is always incredibly high. They want to push you to their distributors. I buy just about all my cold steel off Amazon and have never had a problem. However, I always recommend doing a little checking before you make the purchase
@@choirboyzcutleryoutdoors thanks for the reply. I went agead and bought the knife through your provided link. If I get it and it turns out to be Cold Un-Steel Ill just send it back.
I'd like to see how their new warcraft in san mai iii do on your tests. I love these cold steel tanto's and am absolutely in love with my master tanto. I haven't found a better handle on a fixed blade yet then the ones on these series of blades.
I love Cold Steel. I have all kinds of knives from Benchmade , Spyderco, Buck, you name it. Cold Steel are impressive. I carry my Spartan everyday. Perfect for work and god forbid I need it in self defense. I would rather pull that Spartan then my Spyderco pm3. Chances are the threat will back down just on the way the Spartan looks
Man, that's wicked sharp. Did it come that way from the factory? Yes sir, good message and god bless the veterans! My brother and cousin are in service today
It's a running joke on the channel. I've been stabbed and cut, however, 99.9999% of the people in the world will NEVER EVER use a knife for self defense.
Back in the late 90s, early 2000, these were marketed as survival knives. I have this knife form that period and it's awesome. Just got the outdoorsman and I'm not impressed 😒
Been wanting that exact blade for awhile love me some cold steel , but cold steel in San Mai , very well said at the beginning of the video ,bring people together not push them apart good sir, great video keep up the awesome videos 👊🏼🤘🏼#22aday
Scab I've been eying this for a while just did not want to pay the price tag...feel like your paying for the SW construction of the blade and esthetic over the mono steel tanto...
There's a big difference between the originals and the remakes. The originals had deeper spines and were perfectly balanced. The new ones are at least 25% lighter and just dont slash like they used to. Mine are razor sharp of course, but in my tests, the jeans slash and the gallon jug, i nearly broke my wrist on them. The older tantos i have from the 90s fly through like a laser. The Trailmaster and recon scout, srk in Carbon V are magical. Whenever a company chooses cost saving over performance it just kills the quality and the culture that Cold Steel pioneered in. The American tanto was brought to us by Lynn Thompson, Bud Neely, Bob Lum, Al Mar, awesome, but it was Cold Steel that made indestructible affordable. I miss Carbon V. I put my srk through miles of deer, apples, steak, branches, and it just stayed sharp. R.I.P Cold Steel. #22aday 💜❤ 🇺🇸✌⚔
Do you guys have any problems with Carpenter 204p? Its supposed to be equivalent to Bohler m390, and my microtech socoms that have 204p lose their razor sharpnes just by playing with them. I just trim cigars, cut threads, open mail, and they get dull pretty quickly versus my ultratech tanto in 390. Havent has to touch it after 2 months. I found that S35vn lasts longer too. Thoughts?

Nice. If you get a chance, I'd love to see some close ups of the blade with the lamination line amd whatnot,

Great comment and perspective
I'm in total agreement. I have a coupla Cold Steel knives from from the mid 90s and they are made with better steel and are just made better.
