Fast & Loose Winter Landscape in Watercolour

- Snow is forecast in parts of the country soon so to get in the mood I thought I'd grab my trusty hake and bash out this winterscape. A limited palette helps keep the colours harmonious whilst the white of the paper comes in handy for representing the snow.

Typical Cronin technique - uncompromising and brilliant. He uses the card technique masterfully on buildings, rocks or grass. He is simply a master watercolorist.
many thanks Pavel
Actually, it's annoying how freaking good you are at painting, with no apparent effort! I struggle and struggle, and never end up with anything close to this good! 🙃
keep practising Tanya and you'll get there. All the best
That palette is both terrifying and inspiring.
I think many get too caught up in keeping their kit all neat and tidy. Personally I've never found any advantage in doing that!
You are the Bob Ross of Watercolor. Amazing how fast you made the buildings!
Thank you so much 😀
I love how you scrape out shapes and make a wonderful composition within a matter of minutes! A blank piece of paper suddenly takes on a life of it's own!😮 Best wishes, From Ruma.
Thank you! Cheers Ruma!
Masterful use of the hake to establish the hedgerow on either side of the path. Very nice contrast too. I really enjoy your videos. Thanks for remembering us in you tube land and not just patron. As always take good care and happy Thanksgiving. Jimmy
Many thanks! All the best Jimmy and happy painting!
Love your videos they are so raw and fast that turn out brilliant. The card used for the roofs left me gobsmacked😉 thank you so much👌
Thanks so much 😊
been watching you about, oh...maybe 5-6 years and I'm still impressed! Thanks for all your demos!
Thanks for watching!
Wonderful little pop of color with clothing! Beautiful painting!
Thanks so much 😊
Wow the composition...everything. its 100 per cent brilliant. Really good.💪👍
Thank you so much 😀
Excellent.
Thank you! Cheers!
Beautiful!
Thank you! Cheers!
I wish mine ended up looking like yours, its incredible how it looks so simple, but isn't for me, and looks amazing in when you've finished.
it's just practise. Stick with it and you'll get there. Happy painting!
This is so good
many thanks Paul.
I have no desire to paint in this style, yet so enjoyable to watch your genius fearless approach. Well done
Thank you very much!
Just discovered your channel. That was certainly very fast and very lose. But amazing result. Gorgeous painting. Very impressive indeed. I have subscribed. 😊
Thanks and welcome
This painting is one of your best. You have excellent perspective and perfect values. Great job!
Thank you very much!
I love your techniques,.They are amazing and made stunning paintings. Just brillant!!
Thank you so much!
Wonderful demo! I’m curious what brand your rigger brush is? I didn’t see it mentioned in the supplies description. Thanks!
it's just a cheap one from the local store. There's no branding on it that I can see
I need to get my hake brushes out of retirement.
Thanks for watching @paulah317
Sorry but what type of card did you use to create roofs?
it's a common plastic bank card that I've cut up into various sizes
Can't get that card scrape to show up so white.
has the paint dried underneath?
I got quite a bit of color left behind. It appeared it penetrated the paper or did it dry? What was your time frame between painting and scraping? Thanks so much! @@StevenCronin
@@joep4635 when I'm going to scrape I apply the paint a little thicker so I can scrape immediately
Immediately - the key word. Thanks again!@@StevenCronin
