An Introduction to the New Wave Movements

- Merriam-Webster defines New Wave as “a cinematic movement characterized by improvisation, abstraction, and subjective symbolism that often makes use of experimental photographic techniques.”
Also known as Nouvelle Vague, the New Wave began in France in the 1950s and blossomed there in the ’60s. The roots of the style were in Italian Neorealism, which began during World War II and continued into the postwar years. Britain and Japan offered their own variations on the theme. Overall, the movement had a profound effect upon international cinema.

Yes! Onscreen #RepresentationMatters. There are other aspects to it, too, like representation in decision-making, so it’s not only about what’s on the screen, but yes, onscreen representation absolutely matters. Intensely.
These filmmakers were mostly men - mostly young, abled, cis-het white men - the most represented demographic onscreen since film began, and even THEY felt the need for better representation, and they were RIGHT! The rest of us feel that need too. It’s such a basic human need to perceive ourselves in our stories, in every medium. ❤️

"Working class" is an antiquated term
From this now COMES the garbage no one wants to watch. The creativeness that made great films has left hollywood. It's all about pushing someone's agenda, there's no greatness left in Hollywood. A bunch of low class, talentless , uninspiring woke, lifeless drones. Even your attempts at remakes or sequels leaves those of us who know the art and talent lost to Hollywood couldn't recognize any connection to the original. HOLLYWOOD AND TV DIED .
