Sudha Ragunathan is a leading light of Carnatic song. She learned bhajans from her mother V. Choodamani in childhood, and went on to be the star disciple of ML Vasanthakumari. Her guru set demanding standards (“you had to do much of the research or learning yourself - listening to her old tapes and looking at her notations in her notebooks. It was very challenging because hers was a very difficult style”).
She kept her studies up alongside her music, enjoying zoology, botany, and chemistry and sometimes dreaming of being a gynaecologist. But music’s allure proved too strong in the end. She has gone on to release over 200 albums, as well as writing for Tamil cinema and working on fusion projects. Outside of music she set up the Samudhaaya Foundation, that provides healthcare to those who cannot afford it.
“I can create different colours, different emotions, I can treat the raga differently, approach the composition in my own style...but I must keep in mind that I should not trespass the tapestry of the definition of the raga.” (Sudha Ragunathan)

Worship the divinities glowing (implied) in (andu) navel (nAbhi), heart (hRt), throat (kaNTHa), tongue (rasana) and nose (nAsa) etc. (Adula).
Worship the divinities glowing in (implied) the sustaining (dhara) Vedas such as (implied) Rg, Sama etc. (Adulalo), in the heart (hRdayamuna) of the foremost (vara) gAyatrI mantra, in the minds (mAnasamuna) of the celestials (sura) and Brahmins (bhU-sura), and within (eDa) this auspicious (shubha) Tyagaraja (tyAgarAjuni) .

Vidhwan patri satish kumar has a unique style of accompanying on the mridangam which is unique from the mother form pudhukottai style but it looks as if he has made his own identity and his own pudhukottai bani,in an interview of maha vidhwan trich Shankar he has said that pudhukottai bani was born solely for accompanyment how ever this is just another level of accompanyment and brilliant use of those powerful and advanced Mike's ❤️

Sudha mam is singing according to the mridangam...mridangam artist is not compromising even a single note.....he plays it for every note
@@eliza8145 in carnatic music mridangam does not give rhythm the musician have to make rhythm by taalam (u can see her hand) so the mridangist can go different patterns other than the composition

In this performance, balancing was not very good, meaning, voice is drowned by the pakka vAyidhyam-s. That's why there is the phrase in Tamizh "adikki vAsi", but here the mistake is NOT of the instrumentalists but the balancers of microphones. In any song, sAhityam (lyric) ranks the most important position, and music is only to add beauty to the lyric. So voice ranks first and higher than every music instrument. Just humbly put my thoughts, no contest🙏

Jaganmohini ragam...Quite natural..get reminiscences of maestro Maharajapuram Santhanam..! This one- composed by Thyagarajaswamy n another one -'Pahi tarakshu puralaya' ( sung by Palai Ramachandran. listened in 2018) composed by Maharaja Swathi Thirunal....both ever popular! Jaganmohini is a janya raga derived from Mayamalavgowla which is 15th on the Melakarta scale. I understand that other popular krities are available ( though I don't remember the respective renditions by any vocalists)..say..'Mamavam Satatam Ragunatha' by Thyagarajaswamy, 'Shivakama Sundari' by Gopalakrishna Bharati, 'Daya Juda' by Shyama Shastri, 'Pari Pahimam' by Mysore Vasudevachar and 'Sri Vidya Rajagopalam' by Dikshithar. the scales of Jaganmohini are : S G3 M1 P N3 S/ S N3 P M1 G3 R1 S and scales paint only a superficial picture of the raga as the gamakas are a very important part of a raga. Excellent rendition by Sudha ragunathan.....loved the chittasvoram m charanam n the swarakalpana .....the percussion team excelled ....Very good recital..Best wishes

Sir , With due respect, "Shri Vidya Rajagopalam" is in the ragam JaganmohANAM which is different from Jaganmohini.
Jaganmohanam is similar to Jhalarnavam Melakartha.
