LOL, I had a reservation for a rental car a few years back. A Karen came in wanting to rent a car without a reservation. She was in line in front of me and the customer service person was trying to explain that they had no cars available. She kept complaining and finally said “I don’t understand, there are all these cars out in the parking lot” I’d finally had enough of hearing her berate the customer service person and said “those cars are for people like me that have reservations, but haven’t picked them up yet” She turned around and left. I got a free upgrade 😂

Rental car places are swarmed with Karens, I feel like. Every singel time there is someone demanding the exact model displayed as an example on the site, "GET LOST WITH YOUR FUCKING CLIO, I'm paying for a VOLVO C30!!!". Sigh...
Working with warranty cases at an electronics store, we had Karens evevry day. Sometimes we had security because people thought they could replace items they smashed themselves by screaming profanities and verbally abuse us. Once a posh lady about 50 y.o. came to my desk with an expensive vacuum that didn't suck, and I knew it would be ugly from the point she entered the que. Bad mouthing both me and my colleage for incompetence and slow mowing to the other que'rs. When she came up I was as friendly and charming as can be, I disconnected the hose from the vacuum, and I stuck a broom stick into the hose. She never stopped talking angry from the moment she entered the doors, until I popped a pair of panties out the hose on a lowered table inbetween our desks. It folded out perfectly for the 20-25 other people waiting to see, and most of them tried their best not to laugh. The face. She just took what was hers and left in a hurry. Every one who was present said they loved to see that play out. That 30 second interaction was the highlight of my life.

      I actually did that once...
It was in the 80s (yes, I know I am old)
A random woman came into the airbrush shop (Florida panhandle, beach, custom t-shirts)
She DEMANDED to use the bathroom.
I told her we didn't have one for her to use.
Cue the "You have one for employees... I'm pregnant (maybe? But not showing, so could've been lying) Blah, blah..."
Our bathroom was behind the compressor room, where we had 3 LARGE air compressors. Our insurance would not cover liability for a non-employee who might be injured.
"Possibly" pregnant made it a BIGGER safety concern.
Explained that to her... still b*tching. Told her there was a Cafe RIGHT NEXT DOOR... still demanding to use our bathroom.
Finally asked for the store manager.
      I said fine.
Walked to the end of the long counter. Turned around, walked back and said, "Hi. I am the store manager. What seems to be the problem?"
To say she stormed out p*ssed would be an understatement.
      Kicker?
One of the store owners was there (doing airbrush art) and he laughed until tears were rolling down his cheeks.

I was at a fast food place yesterday and they literally had a sign posted on the intercom thing that said “please be kind to our workers. For many of them, this is their first job. They are teenagers. They are someone’s child. They could be your child. Please do not be rude to them. If you need help, please ask for a manager or a shift supervisor” and it made me SO sad that things had gotten so bad at this restaurant that they had to remind customers that the employees were people, and not just people, they were kids. And it was because of people like this. I literally apologized to the girl taking my order because I felt so awful that they had to deal with this

    • @thaloblue
      @thaloblue Рік тому

That's gotten really out of hand in some places. I had to deal with some real bullying and sexual harassment as a cashier at fucking Wendy's. I worked at other fast food and retail places but Wendy's was pure hell. Everyone was horny, stinky, or weird, or bitchy. It was next to a car dealership and a construction site, and none of those men have any respect.
Men would sit there and refuse to complete their order until I gave them my phone number. I refuse to give out my phone number and we'd just sit there staring at each other. The chodes would try and say something to rile me up. And I'd ask if they were planning on eating anything. They'd try to demand the time I got off work so they could pick me up in their car.
What fucks me up is: If I heard someone sexually harassing a cashier, I would SAY SOMETHING??? People would act like they heard nothing and just order whenever the pervert of the hour finally fucked off.
I finally blew up on one male customer who leaned up against my back while I was refilling the ketchup dispenser, and attempted to whisper in my ear. My ears immediately went to steaming so I didn't hear any of that. I spun around and roared at him. Like, literally I'm not sure how to replicate the noise I made. I told him I knew damn well his mother didn't raise him to treat or approach women like that, correct? Was that or was that not true?! He looked scared. "Uh, I uh I was just gonna ask a question."
I think he was expecting me to be startled, humiliated, and quietly leave. Nope. Instead I hollered "WHAT DO YOU WANT?" enough for the whole restaurant to hear it. His question was absolute bullshit and confirmed his goal was to rub up on me. He wanted to see if there were napkins, and when the ketchup might be refilled. I was bent over because I was refilling the ketchup! I told him he could get napkins when I had finished refilling the ketchup, and was there anything else?? "no." And then I ordered him to sit back down and wait until I left. All at a volume level I've probably only achieved two other times in my life.
He walked back over to his table like a kicked dog. None of the employees spoke to me for a while. I thought at first because they disapproved, until I noticed that no customers seemed to be moving either. I realized then I might have accidentally intimidated the entire restaurant. My mom's half Italian half Black, and she used to sing in a gospel choir. My diaphragm is TONED. He should have thought of that before attempting a sneaky groin brush.
At first the silence made me feel very lonely. Just fucking raging in a weird silence. Some customers who had missed the whole thing came in and slowly things moved on. But a middle aged lady came up to me and told me she was proud of me!! That made me feel a lot better. Fuck Wendy's and fuck men.

But I was probably 12/13 when this happened, and I'd been to her work before but not for a full day of just sitting there and occupying my time with homework like this day. So, with me in her cubicle I got to hear all the call she made. People were so mean. One stuck with me bc my mom called and explained to a man that his phone bill was 3 months behind and if he didn't pay she'd have to have his service cut off. This isn't her choice, it's just her job. She was trying to make money to feed my siblings and I and keep us in school activities and make us feel safe. But of course, this man is thinking of his own troubles and lashes out. He yelled at her so hard everyone in the cubicles around her could hear him. That was the first time I heard the word "cun*" the way he said it, so hateful, and I cried so hard. She had to face people like that Xfinity customer day in and day out. I'm always really polite to people through the phone and always compliment their service at the end, even if I'm frustrated bc of that man.

When I worked at a call center and managed complaints we were are allowed to tell people to treat us right as long as we were going 100% by the book. I used to say "sir/madam, I do not deserve this treatment, I advise you to calm down and be polite otherwise I am allowed to end this conversation." That usually got them even angrier and I could hang up without damaging my overall performance. Great for the monthly average call time tho! I loved crazy clients..

Most call centers have "abusive customer" policies now. When I first started working in call center customer service, we'd just have to take the abuse. Now, you can disconnect the call as long as you give the customer the opportunity to change the behavior. If they don't, they get the dial tone.

Customer was mad about part of her order being delayed, she called the office multiple times and freaked out at every csr demanding to speak to the manager. When I was 18 years old, I started working at a hospital from three to midnight and one night a lady called in and was going off, screaming and yelling about her bill, saying the most insane things, like the surgeon left in the middle of the surgery and played golf, and then he came back and just was cussing and yelling at me and I was new, and I just sat there and cried and cried until one of my coworkers came over, grabbed the phone for me and hung it up. And then told me we don’t have to take that kind of abuse.

The guy was super rude and started yelling at me. I tried to stay calm and explained what I needed and why. He just kept yelling. People on the opposite side of my cubicle wall could hear what I was dealing with. I started crying cause I was so angry. He got really quiet. Asked me to please explain what I was looking for, and then said he would try to have the document over to me by the end of the day. If you are not enough of an adult to discuss that ahead of time and you can't afford to pay then don't ask anyone out.
