Also, we currently have all *The Last of Us* episodes uploaded on our Patreon: www.patreon.com/ThePerfectMix we are also almost finished with season one of *Breaking Bad* and we just started *The Boys* as well.
20 year old canned food... over that time period your system would be ok with eating aged food as your digestive system would be in permanent survival mode from eating basic foods consisting of mainly meat.... also the preservatives would boost your immune system for 2-3 days....
I would recommend watching the obi one Kenobi show. The same guy who played as obi one star wars episodes 1-3 comes back as obi in the series. Plus the same guy who played as Vader in episodes 2 and 3 also comes back. There's 6 episodes of the obi kenobi show. The storyline takes place between star wars episodes 3 and 4
Sam sat on the edge of the bed facing away from Ellie to protect her. He knew that if he turned and saw her, he would attack. But if he couldn’t hear her, she might be safe if she fell asleep. Imagine the loneliness he felt as he looked out the window.
That’s not true necessarily because runners can still hear and that’s the first stage after becoming infected. The next stage is becoming a clicker because overtime the fungus/infection grows larger and eventually covers their entire face as it originally grows on the brain which causes them to become deaf after years of already being infected. Lol I hope that made sense
i forget that so many people haven't played the game and have no idea what is gonna happen as they watch, its nice to see people enjoy the story for the first time
A few years ago I was showing my gf the opening sequence in the game - she was completely uninterested ("games are for kids") and then when we started watching this, she was so in. I told her it was exactly what I showed up (pretty much) time before and she stuck to her guns. But I definitely got a sick "Red Wedding" type of joy from watching her react to this... it helped me hold back my teaers because this was done so so so well (better?).
Making Sam deaf was one of the cooledt mixups from the game. Not done for pure representation, but for adding dimension to characters. Having Henry be not just a caretaker and role model, but as sam’s only point of clear communication via sign language really made it hit hard when he got bit….Awesome rewrite.
Henry and Sam's ending was top 3 with Sarah and Bill & Frank. Heartbreaking. You can tell how much Joel liked them because he took the time to give them the respect of a burial, something nobody else gets from him.

In the game, Joel fell off a high up ledge onto rebar. They made the change with the broken bat to make the situation more believable that he could survive. (It's not spoilers everyone, they've seen the whole show on Patreon)
Funny how i was playing the game again after a few years and when i came to this rebar scene i was waiting for the bat to happen. I got so confused lol
That's what they were going for. Instead of having some obviously intimidating post apocalyptic warlord like Lord Humongous in Mad Max Road Warrior, they thought it would be more terrifying to have the post apocalyptic warlord be someone like a kindergarten teacher.
You'd be surprised at how many big moments in the show are from the game, the magazine, the puns, the truck crash and shootout, the sniper cover fire section from Joel protecting his group, Sam (not deaf) and Henry died the same way, but Ellie came to get him for breakfast before she got attacked. They had a conversation that evening about "the future/fears" and Sam was standoffish. Ellie left the room and he looked at his leg at the bite. The back and forth scene of Joel and Ellie getting into it at the town talking about Sarah and that speech. It's really incredible how much they have adapted into the show. It's not really a spoiler, but there is a reason they went ham on the town and how intricate it is.
All they had to do is give a damn about the source material. Some things were changed, such as all of episode 3 to a few minor details, especially the lack of combat, but otherwise, the story is pretty spot on.
@@brucenateleethe lack of combat is sad, but I understand. It can be difficult to incorporate the amount of combat that happened in the games to the show, and would make the first season incredibly long.
48:20 this song plays in the first ep as the episode is ending and Joel & Ellie start their journey. That was the OG 80’s version tho, for “Danger” like the code with Bill&Frank. I absolutely loved their choice in having a slower version recorded in current day to use for this specific scene. It’s softer and a girl, so it’s almost like Ellie crying out in song with desperation. (Can’t listen without crying) Idk. I just love this show’s choices soooo much. They did us gamers so right with this series.

They handle Ellie & her relationship with violence SO well. At the beginning, she is just playing around with this gun (and she clearly knows basic gun safety. She is able to unload the gun and unchamber the round in the barrel with ease), having a bit of a power fantasy about shooting the gun. She is not obsessed with the kill, but rather the power she holds. Because in her violent world, having a gun means being protected, and protecting others. But the moment she is exposed to actual, real violence she freezes up. She is in a complete and utter daze when they get shot at. Joel has to yell at her in order to get her to focus & move. And I LOVE the choice to stay on Ellie's face as she shoots Bryan, so we can experience her hesitation, fear, and shock. Also REALLY dig the choice to drag out his demise. Even with her fear... she manages to pull herself together and save Joel. But all that bravado & power fantasy of having a gun is gone. Replaced by sadness, shock, and fear. She has to wiper her tears, compartmentalize, and keep moving cuz this is the reality of her world. So Joel entrusts her with the gun, teaches her how to hold & store it properly. Because as much as it sucks... she will have to engage in some violence in order to make it out here. And this gun, this symbol of power, turns into a symbol of the trust between them.
This whole show was filmed in Alberta, Canada. I accidentally drove through an area where they were filming initial outbreak scene from episode 1. And the giant bridge with the train half fallen off is in my town 🥰
Dark fact: There is no Khatleen in the game, but when Joel and Henry meeet first time Henry tells Joel this: "they dont keep kids around, survival of the fittest...". That big burly gross infected is called a bloater. In the game, there are very very very few infected bigger and more dangerous than big fella there. The way Sam and Henry’s deaths play out is exactly like the game, minus character differences, and they both tear me in half every single time. Seeing that look in Henry’s eyes as he realizes he just killed his one single purpose in life and watching the laughter and love that he’d managed to scrape back together, just ruins me.

I love hearing your love for the town and mountains! They filmed those mountain town scenes in Canmore, Alberta when I lived there, it was crazy seeing them turn the whole place into a set
In the game, Sam was 13 and was able to hear and fully talk. Here he is 8 and deaf. I LOVE this change, and Henry and Sam's final moments were way more heartbreaking here in the series than in the game imo. 💜 😢
fun fact! if you've ever played red dead redemption 2, the old man at 31:24 might have a very familiar voice. that's because he was the voice of rains fall, the leader of the indians in RDR2!
Facts, the we’re walking on the bridge in upper lake kananaskis in Alberta , I’ve hiked them many times, and that there was a low snow fall there is usually more snow than that there
The big one that came out of the hole is called a bloater. There are stages to the infection. The first episode you saw the Runners which is the first stage, the ones in the museum are called Clickers which is the 3rd stage of the infection. They can’t see but can hear and the clicking sound they make works as echo location to see where you are. The second stage is called stalkers, mix between runners and clickers except they stalk you and hide in the shadows. Wish they had them in the show lol the bloaters are the 4th stage and in the game they throw spores at you. They didn’t put spores in the show bc irl everyone would be infected and die bc spores travel whereas in the game they stay in one area. Then the last stage I believe are called shamblers and they basically just explode on you spreading spores lol. I highly recommend playing when you finish the show and if you want play chapter 2 unless you want to go into the second season completely blind.
I drank coffee from when I was 15 or 16yo to just about two years ago, so 20 years. I stopped here and there for a day or two, sometimes a week, but I'd always end up having a coffee. It used to be that I'd get a good buzz but the last ~5 years or so that I was drinking it I would just end up feeling sleepy and drowsy 20 minutes later, and feel like that for the rest of the day. When I'd take a break and then have a cup I'd get the gud feelz again, so the next day I'd want to chase that feeling and have another cup the next day, but the fun was already over by then and it would just make me sleepy and drowsy again. I didn't plan to quit, it just sorta happened. I just stopped wanting to feel drowsy finally, and was able to be realistic about the chances of it giving me good feels being basically non-existent. I wish I could drink coffee again. I already have enough addictions though, I like my nicotine bandits and evening beers.
She is was in Game of Thrones before this series. Both of them was actualy, both of them are bad ass in that series ! :) Dont tell me you havent watched Game of Thrones !
I've heard a fair amount of criticism towards's Kathleen as a leader, and how some people didn't buy it cuz I guess she was soft spoken or something. That's always been weird to me lol. Cuz it's the apocalypse, anyone, regardless of their stature or voice quality, can be a crazy person lol. As for how she became a leader... it's pretty clear that her brother was the leader of this freedom movement, and he was a fair-minded, good leader. I imagine that Kathleen was an important part of their movement. After his death, she assumed the role. I imagine she had always been the more ruthless person, and fueled by her grief, maybe she became even more savage. Like Perry said, "We all loved your brother, but he didn't defeat FEDRA. You did." FEDRA needed to go, if we go by what Henry said (and the rumours that Joel had heard), and Kathleen's ruthlessness helped to defeat them. So, she was clearly a good leader for the coup. An effective wartime leader. However, the show makes it VERY clear that she is a NOT cutout for peacetime leadership. She needs an enemy, so she's got everyone all riled up about Henry, while having a personal stake in that. She is also hunting down and killing other collaborators. She is still focusing on that anger and vengeance instead of building and sustaining things. She is also going against the things that they all fought for (as evident by their executions of the collaborators. Instead of, ya know... some sort of fair trial, hearing them out, giving out a fair punishment. Hell, banish them. And it is ultimately her failure to be a good peacetime leader, her ruthlessness and need for vengeance that dooms the Kansas City QZ in the end. But yeah, her character and her role has always made sense to me.
Right? I’ve never understood the criticism, I feel like it’s not that crazy to see why she’s the leader? The ‘she is soft spoken’ being the reason why they don’t believe it is wild, like to people only follow someone because they sound and look tough regardless? I’ve seen people say ‘they would’ve killed someone like her’ which proves they don’t understand these people at all, they aren’t mindless killers who kill everyone. These people are clearly a community who are close to each other, who they hate are fedra or anyone that comes by they don’t know because they’re focused on their community. They all know each other and went through the fedra’s abuse for years. They all band together to take over fedra, and it’s the snitches who are murdered and treated as prisoners. They all looked up to her brother, and his death is the thing that made Kathleen get things done, since it’s that anger and need for revenge and being brutal that made them win. Why on earth would they kill Kathleen? They agree with her ruthless ways, we only see Perry express his doubts and even he respects her for her actually getting something done. Looks and voice aren’t the only indicator of a leader. In this situation, Kathleen does come off as unhinged but that’s the part that helped them do what needs to be done, she’s just so lost in her own revenge that it ends up backfiring
I recommend looking up the different stages of the infected, thats the only thing i wish that they should’ve added in the series is more info on the infections and the types of zombies. In the game you see the different stages that the fungi has on the infected. Also sad they didn’t include stalkers, they are my biggest nightmare🤣
Do you know how to make new shock absorbers, alternative tires, alternative fuels...as all 3 can be hand made and just some of the things to learn fast in that world....
Doing pony tails in hair sounds normal to do in everyday life..... But if you can do that with hair you can make rope as they are just like pony tails in there construction... something as simple as that is a life saving skill in the Last Of Us or Walking Dead type world...
The show is great and did so many things well but the ending of Sam and Henry scene was no where near as impactful as the game. That scene in the game is what messed me up the most, even more thn Sarah death. Hearing Henry whimpering cry for Sam fked me up…thought about it for days after I played it
"Don't tell me I'd be better off with somebody else, because the truth is, I'd just be more scared" always hits so hard. They pulled that line straight from the game and I'm glad they didn't alter it at all because it's one of Ellie's most iconic lines. It breaks my heart every time
As someone that lives RIGHT around nearby where some parts of this episode take place (Northern Colorado off 25, between Loveland/Fort Collin’s, and Wyoming) let me tell you…it looks just like it seems 😊
22:15 They do though. If Kathleen had been less obsessed with revenge, so many people would still be alive. Forgiveness in the end would have saved her.
Fun fact, most of this show was filmed in Alberta, Canada and occasionally you can see signs from local businesses that made it into the shots such as UFA

I love finding new people to experience the story of The Last of Us. Whether it's the games or the show now. Ya'll's reactions are great.
Ayeee Wichita mentioned🙌🏻 Everyone from here geeked out when we first saw our city on that sign😂
I know you have a ton of subscribers already, so this probably doesn’t mean much, but I just discovered/watched your first LoU episodes reaction, and rarely have subscribed instantly, not even off of your reaction, but how genuine, caring, thoughtful, intelligent, and everything else you both seem to be. Perfect mix indeed. 🙂
I just paid for the patreon a couple days ago! Been a fan for a few weeks now you guys are funny and intuitive and very entertaining to watch! I mainly came for the last of us but Im ready to watch the fast and furious after I find time to finish the full unedited of the last of us! ❤ from TN
I love hearing your love for the town and mountains! They filmed those mountain town scenes in Canmore, Alberta when I lived there, it was crazy seeing them turn the whole place into a set
41:41 Tommy served in the army as a soldier. He was a grown man that could make his own decisions. She was in his 30's and 40's!
Henry and Sam died the same way in the game, except Sam didn't tell Ellie that he was infected. 💜
Settle your ADHD down holy shit
In the game, Sam was 13 and was able to hear and fully talk. Here he is 8 and deaf. I LOVE this change, and Henry and Sam's final moments were way more heartbreaking here in the series than in the game imo. 💜 😢
Sam did say he was 14. But he was lying. Henry replied to him " oh you're 14 now huh?" or something close to that lol
@@Miguel_Gutierrez666You know what you're right, thanks for the reminder. Just gonna make a quick change.
You're right, I forgot about that. Thx.
fun fact! if you've ever played red dead redemption 2, the old man at 31:24 might have a very familiar voice. that's because he was the voice of rains fall, the leader of the indians in RDR2!
Great reactions guys. Episodes 3 & 5 are just heartbreaking.
Facts, the we’re walking on the bridge in upper lake kananaskis in Alberta , I’ve hiked them many times, and that there was a low snow fall there is usually more snow than that there
25:30 no chick fil a sauce 😂😂
PLEASE, i NEED that you guys react to YELLOWJACKETS!!!!!!
that show is a definite winner 🏆
Wow you didn't include the giraffe scene here. That's one of the most important scene in the season.
14:25 "I did some research on this fungus" proceeds to not know the name of it 🤣
The poetic justice of Kathleen coldly stating that kids die all the time only to have her die at the hands of a child clicker is beautiful.
i love watching your reaction, you guys have the nicest energy ever
The show was filmed in Alberta.
“I like Henry” Famous last words 🥹
Fun fact: the scene where the woman is about to shoot Henry was done all practically, all stuntmen in prosthetics
What I love about this show is the decision to make Joel vulnerable because of his age, hearing loss of constant gunfire.
She is was in Game of Thrones before this series. Both of them was actualy, both of them are bad ass in that series ! :)
Dont tell me you havent watched Game of Thrones !
Henry and Sam’s story made me so sad in the game, and even sadder in the show😢
Henry and Sam's ending was a punch to the stomach.
Tommy is such a good guy and I really love him along w/ Joel and can't wait for s2
You did."
FEDRA needed to go, if we go by what Henry said (and the rumours that Joel had heard), and Kathleen's ruthlessness helped to defeat them.
Hope you two are having an great and awesome day ❤
I think it’s time for y’all to start the walking dead
I hope that's a joke@SimplyDusty435
Jeffrey Pierce (playing Perry, Kathleen's right hand man) originally voiced Tommy in the 2013 game.
The show is great and did so many things well but the ending of Sam and Henry scene was no where near as impactful as the game. That scene in the game is what messed me up the most, even more thn Sarah death. Hearing Henry whimpering cry for Sam fked me up…thought about it for days after I played it
Melanie Lynskey was such a great choice for Kathleen.
32:03 is that the voice acter for eagle flies father in rdr2?
Yeah Graham greene
"Don't tell me I'd be better off with somebody else, because the truth is, I'd just be more scared" always hits so hard. They pulled that line straight from the game and I'm glad they didn't alter it at all because it's one of Ellie's most iconic lines. It breaks my heart every time
fun fact kathleens right hand man (guy with long beard) is the voice actor for tommy in the games !
You don't have a hot cup of black coffee, you have a cup of hot black coffee.
Great video. Found y’all’s channel of y’all’s reaction to the first 3 episodes. Y’all just gained another subscriber.
As someone that lives RIGHT around nearby where some parts of this episode take place (Northern Colorado off 25, between Loveland/Fort Collin’s, and Wyoming) let me tell you…it looks just like it seems 😊
The snow scenes are shot in Alberta Canada! Right near where I live actually
22:15 They do though. If Kathleen had been less obsessed with revenge, so many people would still be alive. Forgiveness in the end would have saved her.
Fun fact, most of this show was filmed in Alberta, Canada and occasionally you can see signs from local businesses that made it into the shots such as UFA
you guys are so cute omg. I love at the end you guys were recapping and it sounded like you were talking about friends in real life 😂 haha all the love!
Man, I’m glad I discovered your channel, through this show or otherwise. Love your all’s commentary and thoughts 🙂❤️
Thanks to Shoshana and Vince! 🧟♀
Everything happens for a reason
The best and saddest episode for me is 5.
Idc what anyone says, Arby's SLAPSSS
I can’t wait to see you guys’ reaction to the last 3 eps
!!!
Fun facts at the 6min mark that is the tunnel so the Calgary airport in Canada
I learned to drink black coffee by not drinking coffee for 3 months. Can’t use hardly any creamer and no sugar now
Pedro is amazing
Been so hyped for this! Thank you both!!
Yall got me feeling like im watching this for the first time again lol
The art in the background, is it a Carla Bank art piece?
I see you with watery eyes, my bro @48:34 dont worry. Me too lol
The way Tommy stops to think when she says "It is that. Literally. We're communists!" 🤣
It's like he's thinking "Wait? That makes sense. Then what the hell was the USSR?"
And the answer is it was fascist.
I appreciate your reactions, you are a great couple, without a doubt the perfect mix, I would dare to suggest Jojo Rabbit, it is a great movie, fun, emotional, wonderful and great. But I'm sure you will like it.
Love seeing Melanie Lynskey as a badass I've only ever known her for playing Rose in 2 and a half men and one episode of House MD also it was filmed in Alberta Canada I'm from Ontario but have family out there so I've been out there quite a few times gorgeous scenery also west Edmonton Mall damn now that's a mall lol
I love how this show, shows all the different facets of people and the choices that you make.
