Hi Eduardo....love your tutorials. I wanted real moss to grow on my outside flower pots, to ad a little interest....I just painted buttermilk on the pots with a brush, and let them sit for about a week. It looks very old, very vintage, and I was pretty pleased with it. Thanks for all you do!
awesome video!...love how real you are....my sister and I LOVED that u left your horsie socks/-blue shoes in the clip....we are still giggling so hard....we are silly girls....laughing WITH YOU, NOT at you....cheers! keep the awesome videos coming!;0)
The best way to fake green textured moss is to use saw dust. Soak it in watered down acrylic paint and set it on a paper towel to dry. You’ll be very happy with the results. Thanks for the awesome videos 😁
The prices of models and sculpts are outrageous so I more or less work like you I'm finding cheaper ways to get the same results as the professionals for a lot less money. I share my ideas on my Facebook page. I enjoy watching your process you have an inventive and creative mind.
They look awesome! I used a similar technique last year when I made a load of tombstones and a tombstone bed out of loft boards. I hand carved them with chisels and my Dremmel then I mixed up loads of grey paint with sand and painted everything with it to give the texture of stone. Then I dry brushed moss around the edges and also added what looked like mildew from rain water runs. They really did look like old stone tombstones and when I sat all of my homemade zombie dolls in front of them with battery tealight candles, the effect was epic!
Big fan of your videos and ideas. :) Other options that are readily available for adding a texture are things like dried used coffee grounds and dried used tea leaves. Anything can be mixed into cheap wall spackling and applied. Gesso is used as a primer over almost any surface. It can be made at home very inexpensively, but can be found almost anywhere that sells artist/craft/hobby items. Again, your videos are amazing
It’s never too early to start next Halloween’s decorations! Another great video from MT, thank you for uploading and keeping me entertained as well as inspired.
I agree! It’s October 28, 2019, and I’m already working on next years Halloween projects since I just found this channel! Thoroughly entertaining and motivating! Thanks for all your vids! Love em! Keep em coming!
Would modge podge & sand mixed with green /brown paint with occasional pine needle debris work? Lol well we shall find out I'll have some skullls made by next weekend I hope. I have so many orders to fill this week I sew alot of different things. I found your channel yesterday & omg the fairy I just can't wait to do one and the pumpkins I have to limit myself cause I'll be out buying everything I need for every project & be living outta my car & truck lol
overall a great video is there a reason why you used the glue? paint will bond with sand naturally, so i don't understand why you decided to use glue. Could you please explain why you thought you needed this extra step?
Hey there, I found the glue holds the mix together better and it spreads really evenly. When I tried just paint, some chunks would crumble off. It also dries really hard. Cheers, ET
Did they maybe not age in the way you hoped because of being smooth? They look pretty smooth from what I can tell in the video. I' might give the concrete skulls a whirl (I put some of the materials aside when you first uploaded the initial video, intending to do the project at some point) and see if maybe I can coax some moss growth via the blended moss-and-moss-food method.
They're definitely smooth, but also they soaked up the stain very easily. It's a cool project and they last a long time, give it a shot. I also saw the real moss thing, but in my yard the sun kills all the moss. I'll have to try it under the trees in the back. Cheers, ET
I have seen concrete statues look like old stone, the trick I was told is live/natural yogurt, I am not sure if you leave it inside or take it outside, but the statues I saw, I had no idea they was new ones cast in concrete. They look like old stone.
If you paint the concrete skulls with live yogurt a few times when you put them outside, over a period of time you will achieve the same effect as the painted on effect, only by using yogurt the effect will be 100% natural.
I live in San Antonio, Texas. Although the summers are quite humid here the sun is INTENSE! Concrete objects would retain so much heat no moss would grow. I get excited to see moss on my patio once every 5 years! This happens sometimes if the winters are wet and mild. As soon as June is here the moss is burned off. Any moss effect must be done by paint.
If you want nasty like copper red staining, use moss killer from garden center like home Depot , it stains Concrete really , good , also heavy Ironite also garden center gives dark stains heavy water spray or paint on it chemically reacts to the concrete .so controlling design might not be in your favor .

The black paint alone gave it some much-needed depth!
Thank you for another great tutorial.
Thank you!

Wouldn’t I love to go for a walk and stumble over these🖤💀 great video
You styled out that stumble off the chair beautifully!
Glad your back Ed, flocking is what you need to make great moss! Hobby lobby has it. The aging is awesome, I did some on my gargoyles in my pic.
oooh, I'll have to try that. Those diorama supplies are expensive, especially for big projects.

Very cool skulls. Love the look of them. Awesome tutorial!
Thank you!
Very cool, you always have clear directions. I did a creepy baby doll to hang off the air hoses on my semi. Turned out great.
Oh cool! You have a pic of the doll hanging? Would love to see it!

Aye, my dude you're fabulous. I rewatch cuz your content is top notch. Much respect from West tx
Very nice. Have you ever thought of using the flocking/grasses used in diorama building?
Motionless Grave brilliant idea. , x
I'll have to try that!
Cheers,
ET
I customize sculpts and models and that's what I use for my dioramas it looks real and only cost a few bucks. I use the sponge grass.
Also mix in real moss and lichean from fallen tree bark,
Love it!... Making mine with glitter moss :)
After the day I had, this is just what I needed! Thanks for the awesome video!
Thank you! I hope your day got better!

Great tutorial! Loved the 70s homage!!
Thanks!
🤣🤣🤣 0:13 sorry I had to, that was funny. Glad you didn't get hurt though
Man I couldn't breathe. I was laughing so hard... "my horse sucks". I am enjoying getting to know your work.
He said “socks” not “sucks.” Before he fell off his chair he was trying to show off his horse socks. It was funny tho. Didn’t see that coming.

Salt, like table salt, also works for texture. I've used it for rust many times.
Cool, I'll have to try that too. I used cinnamon for rust and works well too...and makes the room smell nice!
Cheers,
ET
Monster Tutorials cinnamon , great idea!
I've been looking for a way to do flocking I'm glad I seen your video!🤔
So instead of a white wash, its like a black wash! 😄 love them., awesome. X

Getting ready to do some of these

Hey living near a river could help give it tht old algae looking effect. I will try it.
I would love it if you showed how to make a horror bust. Like Jason, so you have head to go with your hockey mask
That's definitely in my to do list!
Cheers,
ET
Monster Tutorials thanks sir! Btw I made a pamala Head from f13 and I made it from how to make a latex mask tutorial! Thanks for making that!
If you paint the concrete skulls with live yogurt a few times when you put them outside, over a period of time you will achieve the same effect as the painted on effect, only by using yogurt the effect will be 100% natural.

You should make a creepy cemetery sign
Yep, definitely!
The birdies were quite possibly scared to poop on them
