I am a Bengali. My family have lived in Beas and Kartarpur for more than 3 years. I was only two years of age back then. But my mom tells me that the first words I learnt was in Punjabi. Mom also told me from her experiences that Punjabis were among the most warm, friendly, loving and caring people (Although a bit short-termpered) she ever came across in her whole life. My grandparents used to take me to the Golden temple and I would play for hours at end with other children. I never grew up knowing that there is a cultural difference between these two communities. I dont believe it even now. We have a photo of Sant Gurunank Ji in our puja ghar that was given by one of our neighbours. I do feel truely blessed that I was born in India.
Both Punjabis and Bengalis fought against British the most. And yet, both faced the fire of Partition the most.

I’m a Bengali and being a Delhiite I love Punjabis. I’ve grown up amongst mixed cultures and have witnessed both bongs and punjus are fun loving people and we both are big foodies and love to celebrate festivals. This movie is a gem though and shayad isiliye our India is so diversified. We are Indians and we all have our own nuances and that’s what makes all of us unique! ❤️✨

@@adityabhide6300 dude there’s a reality behind it. Good guys are always timid low on confidence. You found a girl like Yami because she was different among 100s. You too need to have confidence to stand out. Good guys do finish first only if you have the courage to do things in a rightful manner just like Ayushman in this movie.
Out of all the supporting characters Yami’s father & Ayushman’s grandmother had some really nice dialogues & they were sooooo enjoyable to watch. FYI I loved all the actors who played their respective characters sooooooooo well

This community has produced armed revolutionaries over the ages and that is exactly the reason why Punjab and Bengal were divided by the master plan of the British during India's independence as it were these to states that had produced maximum armed resistance throughout. I was 17 when the film released and it touched my heart. The concept was new. I can remember in my board exam i had to write a letter to my friend about a film and i have written about this film.
Such well-etched characters: the mark of a rich story n richer cinema. Vicky Donor remains a brilliant piece of work. While Yami is electrifying, Ayushmann is sparkling, Annu Kapoor is terrific, Jayanta Das as girl's dad is outstanding. And the rest..Dolly, Dadiji n others impress with their naturalness.
