I love the first 10 seconds when Brownie kickstarts Sonny with a nudge!

I'll tell you who else was in that room... Koko Taylor,. Hound Dog Taylor,. Little Walter,. Bukka White,.. and when you watch the dvd (American Folk & Blues Festival vol 3), you can see how Skip James' and Son House's eyes light up when Brownie starts blowing that horn....

Brownie and Sonny were masters of the Piedmont blues. The Delta blues. is a very different sound--and not all blues sound alike, even within the regional traditions. As with any musical genre, you have to listen a while to understand it.

@nosorog91 That appears to be a kazoo stuck into part of a trombone. I saw them once, but I never saw him using that....interesting.

the blues had a baby and they named it rock and roll. you guys don't know a thing about the blues. SRV loved these old blues masters, even he knew they were the real deal. he was borrowing all their licks, throwing in his Hendricks licks and calling it new. Nothing wrong with that, that's what all musicians do, but it ain't new.

4:32 Brownie playin' on some type of trumpet, how that thing is called ?

It is a "Kazoo-O-Phone" - the bell section of a slide trombone with a kazoo stuck into half of the tuning slide.

the blues aint nuthin but a low down chill, if u havent had them yet, i hope you never will----Son House.
---Son House did not know what being cocky meant.
try rap, also good. or play ur own groove, but keep in tune.
1-2 and thats them blues. gl

this isn't really the delta sound. this is just pure amazing blues song writing.. If anything, SRV did the annoying repetitive texas electric blues where every song sounds just the same. sonny and brownie do very unique stuff.

Its amusing you think SRV took anything to a new level he was good.. But typically as in all music the people who REALLY took things to new levels are forgotten and the credit is given where its due but not as much as it should be
