Holy moly... I've been trying too get my map formations saved for each map and getting frustrated that my team keeps moving around. Thank you for this!
My speculation is that the extra 0 diamond attempts comes from the mystic collection and it was just easier to program that way if they wanted to keep the total cap the same but just make more free.
This is correct. At Elite I and Legendary I you get extra free challenges

I really like content creators who are playing the game.. just like Barry.. I love Pvp and I will focus that when i reach 240..
I just tried the extra entry but as complete f2p it costs 10 diamonds. Maybe it’s a matter of vip ? I don’t know. But as a beginner f2p it’s not free. But thank you for the other tips that helps much 🙂
It depends on how many you do first is free 2nd is 10 3rd and 4th is 20 and 5th attempt is 30 diamonds
It actually isn't anything VIP at all. You get it by reaching Elite I tier in Arena for the Mystic Collection Achievements. You get a 2nd one you saw on my account at Legendary I

I'm actually glad it ISN'T essence. If it was then there would be little to no chance for F2P to ever compete as Proficiency is WAY too important in this game and the 'rich getting richer' would just be the way of life if nothing slowed the top end down for F2P players to catch up in Ascensions.
For those that don't know, Proficiency is THE pinnacle gate keeping stat.
It increases by 1 per level of hero, but it increases even more when moving up a hero's Ascension Tier. This stat is checked against the level of what you're fighting and determined if you're doing full damage, reduced damage, taking more damage, etc.
Let me give you an example of how powerful this stat is. On the last Dream Realm boss I fought I put Smokey out front to tank at Lv.110 w/180 Proficiency.
He would die to an auto attack from the boss right before he could trigger his Ultimate a second time. This happened 5 fights in a row.
I moved him into my Lv.111 Resonance spot mashing him Lv.111 and going to 181 Proficiency; only 1 point difference.
He now survived long enough to get that second Ultimate off and survive the rest of the fight; this did not change for EVER SINGLE BATTLE I did after that.
That stat is why you'll see a Lv.100 Mythic+ Antandra tank the whole enemy line but a 120 Legendary Thoran gets two tapped.

I think this makes since when you’re not in champion. Even as free to play once you reach champion getting exp is just pointless. It’s a top tier regardless of anything the rewards should match. I know people hate this but you SHOULDNT be able to catch up with a spender in terms of ascension. The whole idea of spending is to save time. Essence should def be the reward. Lastly 2h essence isn’t going to be the difference between f2p being able to compete with whales in the highest tier of pvp.
I think you - as a content creator should have 2 accounts focusing on F2P and P2W and create guid specifically for both. Most of the time you should be focusing on F2P casual.
