How to Defend Against a Body Slam

  • Facing a larger attacker is a scary thing. One can be so powerful, that he can knock you out with one single punch! Subscribe to my channel : • Video
He can also pick you up and slam you to the ground. He can have enough power to do A LOT of damage.
With that said, you need to know how to defend against a body slam just in case someone would want to pull that move on you one day. Better being prepared and know what to do than not having a clue and getting slammed on the concrete by a 250 lbs guy!
The defense is to bring your hands up and not let your attacker get in. You need to intercept his actions and step in. Explode moving forward!
If your attacker manages to clinch you, here's what you can do:
    • Neck cranking
    • Use a solid elbow strike
    • Throw knee strikes
The key element to avoid getting slammed onto the ground is to intercept your attacker's intention to do so. You need to be aware of your attacker's body language and reactions in order to be able to know what is coming.

I understand there are no rules in street fight but I hate that people go for a slam. Just duke it out, unless the fight is really unfair. But still imo once someone tries to slam me I’m fighting unfair. If someone is throwing hands, i’ll throw hands. Once they getting to grabbing and slamming, I’m fighting dirty asf.

Best defense is to invite the grapple and break the neck. Non lethal defense, while standing your ground quickly drop to your left or right knee and grab behind the opponents knee while arching back and planting other hand for support, twist towards bent knee while directing the momentum towards the ground which will break the neck

  • @courtneybrad

I'm in absolute agreement with this video (and with the others as well), mainly because we must forget not that a fight is a fight! You got to use everything you got to overpower your enemy, isn't that right? It's not a duel of prestige, you might end up beaten hard, and I personally don't want that to happen to me. That's why I am going to strike with all I got.

How to beat a grappler, as a striker:
Step 1: create as much distance between your hips and the opponents hip(while maintaining defense and balance)
Step 2:maintain that distance with hand fighting, and framing if necessary
Step 3: look for an opportunity to create striking distance
Step 4: use long jabs and leg kicks to maintain desired distance and pace
Step 5: run away or grab a weapon; they WILL outlast you

Not convinced I'd be going for the strikes at that point. I preferred your fingers in the eyes, neck cranks and knees. Trying to get out to use strikes can fixate you on trying to achieve distance rather than neutralising the attack. I guess if you count elbows and knees as strikes I can agree though.
