Hurricane Jova brought fun surf and clean conditions to select parts of Southern California including Newport Beach and San Diego. Saturday morning, September 9, 2023, wasn't as big as initially forecasted by Surfline but still provided should to head high barrels with clear skies and glassy surface conditions.
We started filming shortly after sunrise as the swell filled in from the SSE. The jetties seemed to be the call this morning as the Wedge wasn't working nearly as well.
Congratulations to Filipe Toledo and Caroline Marks for winning the Rip Curl WSL Finals at Lower Trestles. It was very fun watching the contest after filming and seeing all the support Griffin Colapinto received from his hometown of San Clemente.
