I was born and raised in Rotherham until I was 16. Many happy childhood memories I'm now 67. Clifton Park was my favourite place to visit . The Cenotaph has my ancestor name on it George Stanley Gibbs. Thank you Daz for this collection of Rotherham as I remember it. God bless you.
Hi sorry it's a late reply .. but it brings great joy knowing people like yourself appreciate the good old days & the work gone into making this video ..thank you my friend & God bless you two ..PS I will make a note to look out for your name . take care George.👍
@@BOXING.ONLY.CLUB.ONLY2BOX.B4 Hi Daz , this is Linda Gibbs. Thank you for your kind reply. My grandad, Leslie Gibbs was George Stanley Gibbs brother. I have a good photo of you stood by George's grave at Lijssenthoek Military cemetery. I think you and I are related. I really enjoy the videos of Rotherham. I used to live at Kimberworth Park in the 50 and 60s . Thank you and God bless you Daz.
Some lovely old photos on this - but where have all the shoppers gone? Meadowhall and Parkgate? Killed the town looking at this - and the 'improvements' certainly haven't, because they have got rid of some beautiful old buildings in the process.
Desertification of the town centre. And it's not only Rotherham, most towns in the North are going the same way. The reasons are many and obvious - shopping malls and Amazon, watching films at home etc. There is no answer really, unless the town centre also becomes a shopping mall with free and easy parking and help to shopkeepers. I can't see it happening TBH.....
Not a patch on its old self anymore awful in town centre and welllgate is now full of Eastern European shops the town is gone and so have I moved away last year after 50 years there !
My mum was from Rotherham & I don't even recognize it today from when I was a child. It's absolutely disgraceful what those in power are allowed to do with parts of the country over the years!!!
I was born in Rotherham. Lived there 16years. This collection of very good photos brought back many happy memories.

Where is the cenotaph
Makes me cry when I see what has happened to Rotherham today. My parents wouldn't recognize it now
Sad to see Rotherham lately, I lived there from 1969 until 2008. Kimberworth then Brinsworth. Seen it go from a lovely town to a shithole.
Thank you you. I really enjoyed, and needed that 😁👌

The last time I went to Rotherham was to the Adam and Eve night club in 1974, was a good night
