0:05 As mentioned, the technician is replacing the engine with a new long block. A long block means it'll be a new engine block with cylinder heads installed on it, then he will just need to install the accessories (pulleys, belt, intake manifold, etc...). He didn't mention what caused the valve to break at the steam but since the truck is so new I'm sure it's something to do with whoever made the valves.
0:32 The technician said the following: "We don't exactly know what happened, but we believe they were hauling a trailer that was too heavy for their truck. It was used for a construction truck, a 2012 Ram 3500 with the 6.7 Liter Diesel engine. The position of the transfer case didn't break the double Cardan joint but it pulled out the other side with the splines. Our quote to fix was about $23,000 for parts and labor."
0:48 The technician said the following: "Charged the battery and politely asked him to leave as it became apparent he had no funds."
1:05 The technician said he reconnected the coolant line, and topped up the coolant system (needed over a gallon of coolant).
It's possible it wasn't connected properly from the factory since you can see pink coolant underneath the vehicle. After somebody drove it, the coolant line popped off and leaked everywhere.
1:21 The technician said the following: "Usually those models leak a little bit through the tail lights inside the trunk but that car had a dent also next to the tail light, it did not appear to let the water in but it looked like it did. The whole battery was swimming in water. We recommend replacing the battery pack, the battery control module, the main relays, and the battery fan, a total price of $7k. The customer declined service and towed away the car. Usually, Hyundai covers hybrid batteries with a lifetime warranty for original owners and this was the original owner. But it does not cover flooding unfortunately and the customer did not have insurance either.
1:46 The technician said the noise was caused by a faulty blower motor and it's a very common issue that he sees working at a Mercedes-Benz dealership.
1:58 The technician said the following: "The material separated from the wheel. It's no fun transferring all of the switches and bezels."
2:12 The technician said it was a 9mm shell casing that they found.
2:26 An important reminder to always install a battery that is the correct size for your vehicle and battery tray. Also, always properly install the battery hold down.
2:41 The customer took the wiper arm off and didn't re-install it correctly.
2:47 The technician said the following: "I’m gonna assume she smelled something at first. I’ll be honest, lucky she went the wrong way to the service area or the whole place could have gone up cuz it’s a covered area."
2:58 This is on a Chrysler 300. What you see is the upper ball joint that popped out of the control arm. As you can see the ball joint has probably been bad for a while since it's rusty and has no grease on it.
3:08 The viewer who sent this in said the following: "A little extra information on my car is a British made 1965 Austin Mini Moke, original US import back in the day now residing in Canada. It has 34 HP, top speed is 110km/h, and is fully road and highway legal. Probably the most fun you can have in 4 wheels without breaking the speed limit."

I've put that down...well -1. My service advisor said something to the effect of don't do that. Until I showed him the tires on a vehicle that came in for just an oil change. Nylon cords and wires showing. Declined repairs of course. They're fine she said...5 days later came back pissed we didn't change her tires because one of them blew out. Excuse me, lady that's not a free service.
There have been tires on this channel worn down to steel belts. Pretty impressive how much abuse tires can take.
I love the "customer states vehicle sounds like X" ones. It's always "wait that can't possibly be...okay, no, it really does sound like that." :D

It was a wheel bearing up front. 2001 Impala, under 40,000 actual miles, but part replaced in 2017.
As a former mechanic I used to love when they would come in and try to mimic the noise and then say "what does that sound like?" Sounds like you making dumb noises 😆
It would be good to get a complete compilation of the "sounds like" ones. I never knew cars and trucks could be as versatile as a synthesiser.

This past Xmas lost my brother to black ice then hitting guard rail which amputated his legs below the knees he bled out,he was a mechanic for Ford for 37 years 4 years from retirement i think of him every video and i miss him.
What really scares me is that these vehicles are on the road and these people are reproducing.

When I was working with GM, we had a customer with a new truck and travel trailer, total out both when the factory hitch broke. The trailer was 5K over the tow rating of the truck. The claim of defective hitch was denied.
Even if we disregard the RAM with the grenaded transmission, this video indicated that buying a new Chrysler product is simply not advisable, to say the least.
Can attest to this. I work at a Dodge dealer, so many issues with these new cars and trucks and it's getting ridiculous. Luckily I don't have to touch jeeps cause screw that.

The pentastar engine is junk. Had to replace all my lifters at 45k miles. Almost had to replace a intake cam also because the spindle bearings in two of the lifters were gone. Really grinded the cam lobes on the edges. Checked with a micrometer and was luckily still in tolerance.

The 22 Wrangler, that coolant line check is part of the PDI process for the hybrid systems. The joys of Chrysler not getting the training out before the vehicle start arriving - we had the same thing happen to our first Hybrid Wrangler when the customer was on a test drive with it and it spewed coolant all over the place.

I’ve seen a few brand new rams go for PDI drive and come back with coolant everywhere, normally just clamp left loose somehow
Well when your outsourcing your workforce to countries like mexico to save a buck, you can't be surprised.

I used to do pdis. Sometimes you catch shit that would have caused a wreck if it had gotten out into the world. We're not supposed to tell you, but yeah, factories fuck up.
I used to own a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee, bought it brand new and it started giving problems at 800 miles. Ended up trading it in for a 2021 Toyota 4Runner Limited Night Shade Edition and it was a wise decision for me!!!.

@@entezami777 Coming from a 50 year old woman that has common sense and tries to be courtesy and considerate of others, I can assure you, it's not limited to the middle aged women. I know plenty of younger and older women, and even some men that most likely would've pulled that car into the shop bay without a freaking thought or care in the world.

Seeing all of these videos makes me appreciate Pennsylvania's strict annual inspections the more I watch them. There's been constant debate if they actually prevent accidents, but you will NEVER see trashed brakes, bald tires, busted ball joints, or frame members flapping in the breeze around here.
Its pretty much the same over here in germany with the TÜV, even though its only every two years for private cars it is mandated for semi trucks every year and for some cars even more often.
Whats funny is the PA inspections aren't even that strict. Lots open to interpretation. PA annual safety inspections are a joke compared to TÜV.
Mandatory yearly inspections on vehicles over 5 years old here in Australia, and these videos make me so thankful for it.
Same here in NY but there are always shady service centers that'll just slap a sticker on anything without actually inspecting it
Maybe Pennsylvania should go back to inspections every six months. That was a real pain when I was younger!
Being the owner of a 2nd Gen Ram 2500, I can attest: Dodge puts great engines in their heavy duty trucks and rubber bands for transmissions.

Lmao, the only good transmission they made for their truck was the 545RFE. Other than that, they are all pretty weak. The 42RE, 46RE, 47RE, and the RH alternatives to those. The 47RE was especially bad.

Because of u shedding light on these “errors”, I now walk around my cars when I drive them looking for any leaks and whatnot. Especially with my Volvo. Yikes. People scare me sometimes.
Toss a piece of cardboard under the motor (on the ground) and it will show any leaks and pretty accurately where
@@Saanonymous80 that’s exactly what I’ve done with my Volvo. I had the rt front axle replaced last year and the mechanic pointed out my oil leak. I finally figured out y I was leaking coolant from it as well.

Since covid, any car from 2020 to 2022 is on my no buy list. I keep hearing about serious qc issues for all cars from these years.
I'm keeping my 06 Corolla and 05 Sonata running as long as I can. Not to mention my three carburetted Hyundais and Canada's only Matiz (3 cyl, 800cc) :D

Love the mini-moke, we rented one for a few days in the Seychelles in the early nineties - great fun, and the perfect drive on a tropical island.
Those A-series motors they are powered by you can tune to within an inch of their lives. The motor and box is the same unit that powers the Mini's, so the Brits have built, and sell, every parts combination imagined. They are a really cool ride.
I lived on a place Called Magnetic Island, off Australia,where there were dozens of Mokes , both private and tourist rentals. Most have been retired now because of insurance costs but zipping along the road with the road right beside you is fun.
A friend of mine rebuilt one in the 1980s in England. It was a fun little car and he did a beautiful job on it, including fabricating a hood by hand. He was a true craftsman.
I have owned 2 in the past. The best one had a Mini Cooper S engine. Felt like 100mph just driving the speed limit.
This one shows its licensed in Quebec I think. Usually the winter salt kills older cars. Not that this one would see many Quebec winters.

Nah, not supply chain issues. Stellantis(their new name)/Chrysler/Dodge/Fiat/Jeep, what am I missing? Known issues going back decades. Nothing new with them.
Seen a video once (was it on here?) of a customer in a store with a battery in a metal shopping cart, well the battery didn't have the plastic caps on it and the battery had tipped over (or been tipped) and was arcing between the poles and welded itself to the cart. Gotta love how some people still can't figure out direct current.

I've heard of overdrive sectors blowing their little minds by folks pulling a trailer without disabling it. But an entire transmission blowing its little mind? Yeesh.
I am guessing the tow haul mode in those trucks disables the overdrives?
@@filanfyretracker Correct. It also changed the shift timing so increased torque is sent to the wheels. You'll notice it on first gear accelerating.

I heard of several examples where the towing capacity of the truck was higher than what was being towed and the companies didn't make due on the warranty. Trucks have broken down mid-tow, the driver cant get help from the dealers, has to get a hotel, find a rental or new truck, and get screwed with a truck that isn't covered by the warranty.
That sucks, time to lawyer up.

I dunno why our former president sold Mopar to Fiat in '09, other than pure ignorance. Fiat's well known for not having a clue how to build cars that actually work...
Mini Mokes were magic back then, and are still magic today. Back in the 70s I was in my early 20s and helping on a friend's farm for a few weeks. They had a Moke for running around the farm. One weekend the parents were called away to some family emergency and asked me to look after the kids for the time. The kids were about 8,10,12. On the Saturday we loaded up the Moke and drove down the mountain to the city and the beach. About thirty years later I met up with some of the family and they said the best day they could ever remember was driving down the mountain in the Moke like they were on their bikes. There is really something special about driving around in one of those lovable pieces of engineering.
That woman DROVE her car WHILE IT WAS ON FIRE? In what persons mind was that even remotely close to a good idea? I would’ve called the fire department as soon as I saw flames and try to put it out myself while they were still on their way.
The Devil really wanted to get to Georgia in style.
I guess she wanted to make sure the shop could see the problem.
I saw a woman driving on the rim after blowing a tire. She was going at the speed limit (45 mph on a city road). I pulled up next to her, honking, telling her to pull over. She rolled down her window and yelled her husband told her to drive it to the tire shop - which was at least a half mile away. People are stupid.
Your not putting out a fire like that. Best to get far away and call the Fire Department! I tried putting ne out with the 10 pound fire extinguisher on my service truck. No luck other then letting the people get out.
Well, we don't know _how far_ she drove it burning, though. I'd bet from how far it had spread by the time they were recording that it was "off the road, into the carpark" only. Compared to stop & bail out in the middle of the road & chance getting run over, I'll take the drive into carpark, unless the flames are already in the cabin.
My very first car in the late 80s was a Mini Moke, good fun in sumner, no so much winter. Traded it in for my 2nd car ($1000AU I think), now more than 30 years later they are a collectable and worth north of $30k in top condition!
And better in Qld than Tassie. Lol they were quite common when I was young.
These were common in the tourist rental fleets in Hawaii in the 60's. More fun to drive than my Sprite. No doors.
Didn't realise they were as early as what he quoted. Their looks make people disappointed when they hear they're only front wheel drive. Maybe drop in an evo 9 running gear- ha!

in 1995 I sold a mostly fixed up, original 1969 Corvette for $5500 to buy a new one. I kick myself for that sale. Worth 50K now as it was a special order 1/8 mile race car.

It's amazing that Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep are still in business with the absolute garbage they produce. My local dealer has TONS of brand new cars with electrical, engine, and transmission problems waiting for repairs.
My neighbor leases his Dodge trucks. Smart move maybe.
Thanks for the entertainment , our shop got a laugh from this one considering we have seen some of these roll into our shop , The front rotor worn to the fins just last week with no complaints , the ball joint pulling out when put on a hoist and the helicopter noise from blower motor . Some drivers are hard of hearing , factory upper control arms wont take a lift but Rough Country does sell an upgrade if you decide to lift the truck if thats the issue here although that ball joint is alittle dry, and you may find a mouse and its kids made a home in your blower motor although they usually come in through the cabin filter , dryer sheets make a good deterrent if thats the issue . Thanks again ..
I dont understand how people are ok with letting their vehicles get into the shape they do. If i hear 1 little squeak. I go into search mode. I cant afford to put my car in the shop when something goes wrong. So i learned as a child to fix things. Im lucky i have a bicycle i can ride to work if my car breaks down. Then i save up the money and fix it or get it fixed.

Customers and how they feel about their vehicles are on a spectrum , some care to the point of obsession that usually comes with Corvette , Camaro and Cadillac owners and some couldnt care less driving vehicles of lesser value . Noises too are often hard to find although our shop has a device with multiple sensors that can be mounted around the problem area and works quite well . Its good to be a backyard mechanic although cycling is how i relax . When 5 oclock comes i dont want to look at cars or talk about them and i want to be alone till 8 the next morning when it starts again
Didnt have the helicopter noises but when a blend door motor stripped its gears it started doing a continuous clicking noise which continued after the key was turned off and ended up draining the battery as the control module kept commanding a return to park position. After boosting it and taking the car to the dealership the mechanic not only replaced the blend door motor but freed and lubricated the door itself. (People in the forums always talk about GM blend door motors failing but I have yet to see anybody talking about lubricating the door.) Im willing to bet there is a cause and effect there.

@@edfrawley4356 Blend doors are not a major issue to my knowledge but its not my department but i remember doing a Tac Talk , a test we are required to do every month to meet GM compliance and i kid you not there was a section on lubing blend doors when servicing the actuators . Yes it will drain the battery if stuck , if you sit in your car for a few minutes after the key is off you will hear the doors parking or should . Every vehicle can be different though ..
In the first video, that was a massive manufacturing defect! Will the customer truly receive a new engine? Or will it be a remanufactured engine? Either way, I would have demanded a new truck since this one is condemned to be worth way less in the used market.
Unsure if it is actually brand new but the subscriber who sent the clip should be here somewhere and able to let us know.
I agree, the car just isn't at 'brand new level', after a major bit of work like an engine swap. A friend bought a brand new VW Amarok, and about 3 months later hydro'd the motor going through a river (Intake sits directly behind the grill???) VW did an engine swap and they had forgotten to tighten the oil feed for the turbo, I nipped it up but it still drips oil.
This situation has happened in our shop on a few occasions over the years and in each and every situation the customer did not receive a short block , long block or a rebuild . They got a complete engine including all sensors as if it was going into the vehicle on the line , comes in a big crate and yes the argument over a new vehicle has come across GM legal desk . Not all dealerships are created equal ..
I think it may be kind of common with these engines. I had a 2019 Ram 5.7 with the eTorque and the lifter bank for that exact same set of valves went bad, dash lit up like a Christmas tree, and I had the cylinder head rebuilt under warranty. I, fortunately, didn't have a broken valve or it would have been much worse.
Depends, if it's customer pay it's usually a new engine. If it's warranty it's a remand..
If it's something like this, you could use lemon law as leverage to get a new engine or possible a buy back

Oh I liked the little green thingy : ) I remember seeing the old trucks hauling and pulling loads that were way past the company's limits and never seen them break,like they do now. Had to drive a few back in the day, if I wanted to get paid. There are some real death traps out there, then and now.
That is a Mini Moke green thingy the Australian Army used to use them. They also made a Californian with a 1275 cc motor.

That's because trucks now a days come with 1000 lb*ft of torque for some reason.
Steel quality has dropped, front suspension springs being a prime example, i had one break a few years ago . The amount of impurities could be clearly seen in the broken ends
@@eggy1962 Has a welder and fabricator. What you say is very true.. When China paid high prices for scrap, here in the USA they then,sold us back junk steel, full of dross. We need our steel mills back along with all manufacturing, we lost to other Countries. If people of like mind would just stand together and draw a line in the sand, things may change I am not talking about violence,though it may come to that.

A shell casing in the sun roof track. The odds of that happening without injuring anyone are so incredibly high.... wow.
Nah, means he was probably standing up through the sunroof, shooting at targets or whatever, and missed a shell casing when cleaning up.

@@Varmint260 That's what we call a "hard rain".
The explanation is probably simple, at many public shooting ranges you park right next to the shooting station and many handguns throw the shell casings backwards. Very easy for them to land back on the car in those situations and that one just landed right in the track.
I've had shell casings down the back of my shirt and one from the guy beside me in a shirt pocket...never thought I could get undressed that fast before. Little surprises me anymore.

I love a Moke! See them mostly at car shows in the UK (given our typical climate it’s not a great choice as a commuter)

The Mini Moke was a very popular little car in Australia back in the day. A favourite for newspaper delivery. Like the Mini, on which they were based, they were great fun to drive with go-kart handling. Not so much fun in the cold. From memory, I think ours were mostly badged as Morris, not Austin, although they were identical except for the badge. Probably expensive to buy these days because they would be quite collectible.
Yep, definitely Morris or just badged Moke. They were made in the BMC (Leyland) Zetland plant in Sydney and were exported to many countries. The later models had 13" wheels in place of the 10" wheels found on British built Mokes. My neighbour recently restored one, surprisingly there are still plenty of parts available.

@@RachelEvans680 We're both correct! Originally assembled at Zetland (from 1966), then transferred to Enfield (after Zetland closed) in 1974 with more Australian engineering input and content.
@@peterthompson99 I worked at Enfield in the early 2000s fitting out police cars The Auto group auctions were there too at the time .It had some great history I can tell you.. I left mid 2004 and not long after that it was demolished...So sad ..

This episode brings back fond memories of touring Mauritius Island in a rented mini moke when I was 6 or 7.

Yikes. Currently sidelined due to bad brakes... that got disassembled for no reason while trying to change out the shocks. Got stuck on the lower mounting bolt there too. So now I have a Civic that bounces all over and wont stop. Fun times.
Boy, seeing that Austin-Healy mini-moke brought back memories of 1967 when I lived with my Dad in Freeport, GBI. He was yard super for Frecon, a ready mix concrete company and they had a mini-moke that I would drive all over that yard, tons of fun! I was 16, thanks for the memories👍👍🤗🤗

Great Odin's beard, that Transmission Grenading was crazy. Humanity hurts my brain sometimes, but morbid curiosity and shock keep bringing me back lol.
Seeing all these issues that shouldn't exist on new vehicles just affirms my not wanting to buy anything newer than 2010. Total trash with unnecessary computerized fluff and distractions.

I love my 2019 Honda Fit. No touchscreen or remote start, and the parking brake is mechanical rather than electric. Those L15 engines last forever. I'll have spare parts as long as any Civic.
On the other hand, Nissan's Versa looks the same, but their transmission is infamous.
I wish more states had mandatory vehicle inspections. It's scary to think how many cars like these we share the road with

For me personally seeing a FORD CAR-B-Q is no big loss. I hate FORD with everything in me. That 5.7 Hemi with a busted valve...that is not to good. I will pray my 20 Tundra never has that issue.

The customer with the bald tire and the customer with the vehicle in the last clip are VERY lucky. I'm no mechanic but when my own car goes into the shop for any reason. my mechanic gives the car a mechanical once over at my request. I can't stress how important it is to make sure one's car is mechanically sound not just for the owner but his/her family and other car owners on the road.
Quality is Job 1.....lol QC doesn't exist anymore.

Yeah we certainly have it in the UK and I assume its pretty typical in countries around the world. It doesn't necessarily give a full bill of clean health, but some of the structural and other issues we see on this channel are pretty alarming.
Mini Moke was designed to be dropped from aircraft on crates, hence the design…they would explode on impact, the idea was dropped too!

Thanks for another great video! Like others mentioned good that they have inspections in their area. In Massachusetts there's no shady dealing going on. It's all tied in to the DMV with computers and cameras.
That granded transmission is impressive. Looks to have expelled one of the snap rings (among other stuff).

Those Mini Mokes were neat. They were originally designed by the Mini designer Alec Issigonis for possible sale to the military, but instead they sold them as another version of the Mini. It has the same underpinnings. They sold tens of thousands of them.
Many years ago I saw an article where one of the countries in South America bought a bunch for their military. I've wondered how that worked out.

Dodge RAM with 800 miles on it and the engine is damingoed. Jeep Wrangler Hybrid with 15 miles on it and the hose comes off. Jeep Wagoneer with 1700 miles on it and the steering wheel is falling apart. Stell-Anus quality at its' best.
I've worked at many dealerships and shops back in the day. All this and even worse was pretty common.

My late father used to work for Chrysler at the Dodge truck plant in Warren, MI. After some of the things he told me, I'm not the least bit surprised that the vehicles have problems from the get-go.
