This guy is the every ready bunny, he is 63 and still touring around the world, amazing. And still finds the time to do all these videos and guitar camps and have a family . WOW ! My hero.
Tommy I got to see you in State College ,PA a couple years ago. I was setting about 20' from you and all my guitar playing friends asked how many pointers I picked up ? I said"NONE HE WAS GOING TOO FAST "!!! Thank you Tommy for all the wonderful music all these years and GOD BLESS YOU !
Great hearing how he weaves the clearly Kottke patented bass riff into a Jerry Reed tune as if they were always meant to be together...such a bag of skills Tommy has... there is no guitar idiom he doesn't borrow from..
Tommy I'm so happy that you're making more of these instructional videos. With you tube you're reaching out to so many people who appreciate & respect your guitar virtuosity...the best way to connect! Please keep em coming mate!
Seems to be an amazingly beautiful human being...I'm going out to burn my last guitar today...HOW can anyone give him a thumbs down ??? I don't get it...What an amazing talent.
Who are the Ass Hats who thumb down this? Tommy is simply AMAZING. I have watched several of his videos and what a gift it is to get tutorials from a master!
Tommy is as usual a fantastic player, and he is also a good teacher. Among other things he recalls Leo Kottke extraordinarilly technique and groove at 3:55, a recognition of Leo's genius. We can hear this stuff for instance here ua-cam.com/video/gJthGsBB5YQ/v-deo.html
Here are the originals: The Unbelievable Guitar and Voice of Jerry Reed (1967) ua-cam.com/video/vtmb-m4eG6w/v-deo.html Sneakin' Around (1991) ua-cam.com/video/GEIDKCW_qso/v-deo.html
Wow. Ill stick to basic Knopfler patterns for now, (he has some hard ones too!) they were hard enough to learn. No way ill be getting my head and hand coordination around this any time soon.
I just burried my guitar in the garden. You did well my friend but now ist time to say Goodbye. I put some roses in it as a memory of wasted 50 years of struggle for pleasures...Thank Tommy. But I can take it any 30 years more 🤣🤣🤣
Luckily when earth was getting ready to be invaded by aliens they watched this video first....they never headed back to their home planet as fast as they did that day! Thanks Tommy!!
You're not wrong, and it's not a coincidence, a lot of Roots Music very intentionally incorporates sonic elements that mimick other sounds, generally as a narrative or mood-setting device. Given that this type of music really (in terms of guitar music) got started in the US, which was built out on the back of the Rail Lines, it's natural that such a distinctive sounding machine as a Locomotive would find its way into "Hobo Music" (lots of Locomotive sounds in Hobo Harp/Harmonica tunes, too), Delta Blues, etc.. But, as to the first response, yes, Tommy is also a fantastically talented guitarist :D
Maybe I'm wrong, but I think the comment may be connecting Jerry Reed the musician to Jerry Reed the actor, then connecting that a quote from Waterboy where Adam Sandler quips after one of the running backs for Jerry Reed's team is yelling at Sandler that he "sounds like a choo choo train."
This man is not from this planet. It's good that he loves us, and he wants us to learn good music!
Tommy Emmanuel ..one of the GREATEST Acoustic players the World has ever seen ..
Lots of people can play jerry reed songs and do a good job of it, but tommy always takes it to another level.
Masterful player… i saw Tommy and Billy Strings jam together and man they were really blazing… loved it
This guy is the every ready bunny, he is 63 and still touring around the world, amazing. And still finds the time to do all these videos and guitar camps and have a family . WOW ! My hero.
This guy is unbelievable. Love watching him. An absolute master musician.

Very One Guitar, No Vocals. When he slowed it down to show us, I was singing Amos Moses over it. 😄
Tommy is the best. Love that guy
There is so much to unpack in this one video! It's jam packed with goodies. Getting the first groove down now. Thanks Tommy!

Oh, Tommy, how you inspire me.... and discourage me, all at the same time. But thank you anyways... always good to watch you play.
Tommy Emmanuel is Legend !
i just wish i had a grandpa like mr.tommy emmanuel himself
if it says Tommy Emmanuel i press like before i listen to it
A simple man. I like your style.
Love Jerry, but glad to hear Tommy credit Leo for that "Airproofing" lick. Very funky playing all around!
I could learn withTommy all day.
Seems to be an amazingly beautiful human being...I'm going out to burn my last guitar today...HOW can anyone give him a thumbs down ??? I don't get it...What an amazing talent.
Amazing!

Probably dumocrats!!!
D.W. BIGGLY Big League I was thinking the same thing....beiber fans
That guitar can bark like a dog and has such a warm rasp to it. Incredible.
Please stop confusing me before telling me I need "a clear mind!" Love you Tommy!
Nice to hear Tommy give a shout out to Leo.
I Love THAT Sound!
Oh my god love that intro at 6:00
The guitar lesson you’ve always wanted...
Awesome !!

Tommy has turned into the Yoda of guitars
this is god level
ya, and even HE can't get it like Tommy......not even the devil himself!
Unbelievable Skilled
Plays everything way to fast.
*smiles and nods*
Bravo!
I believe Jerry Reed would approve
His approach is very much scholarly.
Fun fact ,it's Jerry's bday tomorrow, thanks Tommy
Just WOW……😳
This was so sick!!! Wheres my guitar?!!! Love you tommy!
Where's my guitar ? Thrown out on the back lawn to rot !!! ( just jokin !!)

Good God .........could there be such a thing as too good ?
First time I've ever heard Tommy refer to Leo. I wonder if they've met and played together
I pray to God,that I get to meet you sometime in my life
LAY DOWN SALLY you were trying to remember??

As he said "a clear mind is needed" wish he'd show us something for foggy minds too...
Wow. Ill stick to basic Knopfler patterns for now, (he has some hard ones too!) they were hard enough to learn. No way ill be getting my head and hand coordination around this any time soon.
i want to know how to play this tune !!
Guitar god
I just burried my guitar in the garden. You did well my friend but now ist time to say Goodbye. I put some roses in it as a memory of wasted 50 years of struggle for pleasures...Thank Tommy. But I can take it any 30 years more 🤣🤣🤣
Anyone know what thumb pick Tommy is using? It sort of resemblea the top half a Chris Broderick's clip pick. Just curious.
Dunlop Thumbpicks.
he said in a interview that he buys them in lots of 30 or 40, test all of them and find 3 or 4 that he likes and the rest he gives away to friends:)
Tommy's thumb reaches the D string. I can barely get my thumb on the E string!
Luckily when earth was getting ready to be invaded by aliens they watched this video first....they never headed back to their home planet as fast as they did that day! Thanks Tommy!!
I think he has extra fingers that we can not see ? Well, any way he's a good Dude and we are lucky he is on our side.
No, you have to be falling down drunk with two cigarettes going at the same time to play it like Jerry Reed!
Some of that sounds like a Choo Choo Train
Rick don't be a silly boy. it's the sound of genius

Is Tommy super human?
he's super talented and have been played since four years old every day religiously so yeah
god this hurts my brain
The claw not the craw
That Leo Kottke thumb part sounds like Jan & Dean's "We're going to Surf City, here we come".
Thumb Picks Suck.🤔🤨🙄
He is a replicator not an originator like Jerry Reed
He has originated more than Jerry ever did.
That sounded good but nowhere near Jerry reeds way.
16 people have no taste
Please pass this on to Tommy !!! Tommy your the worst teacher ever !! Stop showing of ! Slow it down a touch and teach us something !!!!
Tommy emanual always ruins a classic
