Stephens Quintet: A Multi-wavelength Exploration
Вставка

- Frank Summers, Space Telescope Science Institute
Stephan’s Quintet is a collection of five galaxies close together in the sky. Although one member is a foreground galaxy, the others are tightly grouped in space and their shapes show evidence of gravitational interactions and collisions. Observations using visible, infrared, and x-ray light reveal detailed structures that help piece together the history of this grouping.
Dr. Summers will discuss this rich scientific story and present a new visualization, from the AstroViz Project of NASA's Universe of Learning, that explores multi-wavelength insights into this complex compact group.

Wait what ngc 7318b is crashing from behind but the dust is in front of the other
Great speaker! As always 🌠🌠
Thank you - that was very interesting ! Never thought that all this information was available from the (various wavelength) pictures of those galaxies !
Frank Summers is too good
Do hubbles universe unfiltered: whirlpool in space
Hubble is an extension of my telescopes over the years, mostly Celestron!
