    As a physio i gotta weigh in here. The ligaments of the ankle are interwoven with the joint capsule. There are 3 ligaments on the inner side and 4 on the outer side. Andy didn't quite roll the ankle, but his foot got stuck and twisted a little bit. He tore the TFA ligament in the front, and partially tore the CF in the back. But since these ligaments are part of the joint capsule they somewhat support one another. If you don't tear all of them (like Zverev did in Paris) there is a chance you can continue with a taped ankle once the initial pain wears off, at least for a while. Not recommended though. And not taking anything away from Andy, he is a warrior for sure.

      @Alexander-dt2eq 2 місяці тому

      i wonder how he could even tear those ligements while wearing this ankle support. also on the video you could see his ankle and foot be like 90 degrees when touching the ground. i doubt he would have continued playing beyond a 3rd set tiebreak. i remember Dominic Koepfer once playing the whole 1st set against Alcaraz after an ankle injury.

      @@Alexander-dt2eq as i said it was more like a twist - tibia & fibula moving in one direction but the foot placed at a slightly different angle. The foot gets stuck in its position because of the rubber sole but tibia & fibula continue their momentum. The two ligaments both attach to the fibula.

    13:45 You can see that Sinners forehand has so much speed, his racquet arm wraps around his back in the follow-through. Maybe it's his flexibility as an original alpine skier that makes this possible, whether learnt when he was a kid, or genetic. I bet he is walking fast too, as many people do that have natural speed and agility.

    About Andy Murray. Mentioning older players, whose body's are plagued with injuries, but still go on the court, fighting it out, not worrying about rankings nor trophies, but still give it all, a name comes to mind. Jimmy Connors.
    Andy Murray is just gaining everybody's respect. A latter day Connors? Of course not. Nobody has come close to his record in tournament titles, although Roger gave it a run for his money.
    But Murray deserves respect.

    It was an extremely impressive performance by Sinner in the Miami final. Those two passing shots on break point and set point when he was out of position affected Dimitrov's confidence. Now. I am not predicting domination yet. Why? I still think significant improvement is needed. Sinner needs a transition game and its taking a bit longer than I would like to acquire it. I cannot see him dominating number 1 for one hundred plus weeks and winning multiple slams (like more than 5) without a proper transition game.

I also think his fear factor among the elite players is starting to fade. The other players have beaten him and see it's not the impossible task it once was. We shall see.

    The tennis shoe is such a personal thing ... I did not get along with the Vapor Zoom 9.5. Bought them because Fed and good reviews, but did not work out for me (but liked a lot the way they looked). Rolling the Babolat Propulse Fury (clay) now. For me they work out very well, needed no break-in, very confortable. I think tennisnerd also has a favorable review of them (the hard court edition).

Imagine that their serve, forehand and backhand look EXACTLY like Federer in his prime, BUT, this player has only 1/2 the muscle strength of Federer. How much would this player's serve speed and groundstroke speed be reduced?

    There is no doubt Collins is a great player and an intense competitor. I respect her for that. However, I cannot condone her peculiar shrieking. Using grunting to help with breathing is one thing, but using voice as a weapon is another. Unlike Sharapova or Sabalenka, Colins doesn't shriek all the time. She can play through most of a match perfectly fine without shrieking. But when she starts, boy she can make her shrieking sound as disturbing as possible, with varying degree of pitching that can reach the level of hysteria. It seems to me that she uses shrieking strategically to lift her self up and also inject some fear into the opponent. This is uncalled for. And there got to be some constraints on the form of shrieking. Tennis players shouldn't sound like soldiers in a bayonet fight. BTW, Collins actually didn't shriek much in the final against Rybakina, while she was a screamer in the match against Garcia. This suggests she is more of a strategic grunter.

The only thing you could criticize is his behavior on the court, but there are enough other players, like Andy Murray and John McEnroe, who also lose their cool on the court.
