Nice video! Just a question, why not mount the sensor and the control box at the bottom of the door so you don't have to deal with wires?

Great videos really thorough! Got openhab up and running on my mac server thanks to your videos! Any chance you could do a video on how to connect a z-wave lock (z wave schlage connect) using the Aeon Labs Aeotec Z-Stick Series 5 - ZW090A? I had it all working with indigo but I don't want to pay to use their software for one door lock. Any help would be awesome!! Thank you!

    Great Videos!
I think you could mount the switch inside the housing and have the magnet next to it.
Would make it a little cleaner installation.
I have my Open HAB installed and running and getting parts to make window/door switches.
I also want to use you sprinkler switch to control my 3 button garage door. Open, Close, Stop.
I believe I can build the code to activate the relays for 1 second then release.
I can wire 2 of them normally open and 1 of them normally closed and connect to the control wires.
Thank You again for the great tutorials!
    on another note...
Any chance you know about UPB Switches and how I could inter connect them to my Open HAB Network?

I noticed that you use what appears to be an ESP-12 variant. would this work with an ESP-01?

    Excellent video, congrats.
However here is my chief beef about these kinds of projects, YET ANOTHER APP TO RUN ON YOUR SMART PHONE.
I have several home automation devices, WiFi light switches, Thermostats, Garage door opener, but they all use DIFFERENT APPS.
It takes more time to remember which app controls which device than just walking over and hitting a switch.
What this whole universe needs is STANDARDIZATION, a common APP or INFRASTRUCTURE with a common interface, you run the app select the device and activate it.
Instead we have a plethora of APPS all over the place.
This project is JUST WHAT I WANT, to be able to ensure that my garage door is closed after I use my garage door opener switch.
I will try it and keep hoping for the ULTIMATE APP.
Apps like STRINGIFY are not the answer.
    Thanks.

Science-is-god this is what OpenHAB is for. It conveniently controls everything as one system so only 1 app is required.
