Rechargable batteries fail eventually. You then have no choice but to replace the whole trackpad. I use rechargeable AA batteries in my Magic Mouse and Magic Trackpad. They last for a very long time and the Mac gives you a low battery warning long before the mouse or trackpad dies. It then takes literally seconds to replace the batteries and then you are good to go again instead of waiting for your trackpad or mouse to charge. If you want to keep wprking you would have to have a second Magic Mouse (I don't know if you can use the Magic Trackpad 2 while charging). It is so easy to brainwash todays youth into the disposeable concept and it is very profitable for companies like Apple. I will keep my 1st Gen peripherals and replace them from the used market if needed.
Magic Trackpad 1 has 1) less desk space occupied 2) less parts that could break 3) similar design to keyboard 1 if you have that 4) no depleting battery health 5) lower price tag Going for it. to me it won the comparison
As I look down at my desk, and the slide out tray my keyboard and 'Trackball" mouse sit on, if I was going to get one of these, I would have no choice but to get the TP1, unless I no longer wanted to use the tray, or got a keyboard without the number pad (which I'm not doing, I know 10 key and would NEVER go wtih out a numberpad).. So sometimes it's not just about features, sometimes there is a space issue with hardware as well.

no dpi testing, no smooth scroll testing, no battery life testing. this video sucked, it was just all talk

Also slimmer so better for traveling.
Do you know how many characters trackpad 1's serial number has?
I'm using a cheap USB plug in mouse lol not wealthy enough for these two, for now 🤣 it's working just fine! Very reliable.
Which one is which?
Yes, the images don't relate to the voiceover.
Number 2 on the left and the 1 is one the right
I get it don’t buy a Magic Trackpad 1 over the 2..
But the real question is is it worth the upgrade if you already have a Magic Trackpad 1
I bought the original when it was new and hated it.. the new one is a night and day difference
What are the differences?
