Great video - I will be sifting through our strawberry bed today, thanks to this! And that strawberry tower looks awesome - looking forward to the video on how to build this. I’m new to gardening and your videos have been very inspirational Steve - I’ve built 3 raised beds and have begun growing 19 different things in the last month, so please keep your videos coming so I can learn more. Thanks from a fellow Brit!
Excellent! That is really good to hear :) I have just finished building a herb planter today, so having a cpl of weeks off "building" things and am getting down to some proper planting. Today I am going to planting up the "Beginners Bed" and get some carrots sown.
Happy birthday! And terribly sorry for the sadness in NS. That horror usually that stays on our side of the border. ❤️🙏🏻 Two questions: what zone are you? I’m 6b, just outside of Philadelphia. Secondly: the strawberry tower...will that be sufficient protection from cold to allow the plants to come back next year? I love the idea of more plants, less soil and easier harvesting. This is my 3rd season with my Seascape Strawberries and I’m going to pot off runners as I see them come up. Love, love, love the tower idea as long as it’s not something I’m re-planting each year. I’m on the “less is more” side of gardening...we’ll, as mu as possible. Ok, third question. I’m not on YT a lot, are you on any other social media? Again, prayers for peace and healing for NS.
Thank you :) and yes a sad event indeed and I am going to say it, if you have no access to those sorts of weapons there is less likelihood of this happening, proven all around the world. Enough of that though! To happier more "Optimistic" things. I am in zone 6, can't remember if A or B. I am sure they will survive, but we will see. All the strawberries that have grown around the outside of my raised bed have survived and even the ones from runners that i anchored into little pots have, but it is all an experiment :)
A general fertiliser at the start of the season, I just put down a thick mulch of organic compost and being a fruit a good feed during the season of something with a high potash, like a tomato feed
Even here in vpn land I know that there was some ugly human activity in Nova Scotia in the past few days. All my best wishes for your region, stay safe and healthy.
Happy birthday Steve today!
