Cobalt Blue between Persia and China | Museum für Islamische Kunst (English)

White tableware with blue decorations is known all over the world and closely associated with China. But the beginnings of this success story lie between the Far East and the Middle East. Goods, but also ideas, were exchanged via early trade networks across the Indian Ocean. The colour pigment cobalt blue plays a special role in this.
