A day of players development in 5 minutes - Episode #1 Beach Soccer

A series of publications on the development of youth soccer players.
Do you believe that beach soccer can contribute to the refinement of any soccer skills?
The first subject is special and I will show how ludic games can contribute to individual development. I grew up playing in the street and on the beach fields in the neighborhoods. Today, these spaces no longer exist and many have been replaced by synthetics fields. But I remember the joy in playing and the movements that I made in these “arenas”.
Episode #1 addresses the psychosocial aspect and the objective of stimulating joy. The activities were divided into two parts, initial (less complexity) and final (greater complexity).
The initial part consisted of a competitive game between two teams, which performed heading, “voleio” and bicycle kick. A header was worth 1, a “voleio” was worth 1 and a bicycle was worth 1. The winner would be whoever scored the highest score in 10 minutes. The final part was a 4 vs 4 + Goalkeeper game.
It was possible to perceive, in the psychosocial aspect, the joy in trying a difficult movement and succeeding, being free to make mistakes and try again. Furthermore, in the motor aspect, movements such as jumping, kicking, balancing and, at the same time, specialized movements were performed. These are fundamental actions to get to know your own body in a phase of changing dimensions. Regarding the physical aspect, the strength to push a different type of floor than usual required greater effort to run and jump.
Could there be another objective to this session? Develop heading accuracy? Yes and it was even carried out on other days, using the Escola da Bola proposal, with the elements of time pressure, precision and others. However, this is for the next post.
