- Took me a week (a minute a day which took about 3-5 hours each time) and made me crippled, enjoy

This basically goes through the phases of Tommy’s trauma. The entire animatic is supposed to be a visualization of what was going through Tommy’s head during his time on the tower, like a, “life flashing before your eyes” thing. Most of the metaphors are illustrated as seen from Tommy’s perspective only, since we are going through his thoughts in this animatic. You can perceive the rest as you wish ;)

I notice also that those who answer "no" act as if they thought "yes." As a matter of fact, if I accept the Nietzschean criterion, they think "yes" in one way or another.

Theory: Since Tommy is like Theseus in Greek mythology Techo probably wrote himself or Dream to be like Achilles, the invincible warrior with a single weak point
To go into detail as to why I think it'll be Dream, his canon lives are unknown and he's extremely powerful, so I think that when his lives are revealed his one weakness will be that he only has a single canon life and his others were already taken in a time before the SMP story in that character's past
EDIT: This theory has now been deconfirmed as of the recent disc finale, Dream died and he came back twice, still a fun thing to think of! My new theory is that his lives are directly linked to Ranboo’s or since he can resurrect people every time he dies he just gives himself another life to make himself basically immortal

@kamyab king The favour actually does have a very large impact. The only reason why being that, because Techno had to actually use the totem of undying, if he hadn't needed to use it? The favour wouldn't hold to much impact, but that totem saved him from his execution. So that's a life debt he owes to dream. A life for a life.

It was mentioned on one of Tubbos streams that season 2 will be set in a different world, they'll be unable to move they're items to that world. This might be foreshadowing some sort of disastrous event that will completely destroy both L'Manberg and the Dream SMP. Not sure though as it seems pretty farfetched.

Okay first off THIS IS AMAZING. The art, the timing, the song choice, the SYMBOLISM HOLY CRAP THIS IS UNDERRATED.
WARNING THIS IS A LONG COMMENT LOL
Basically, Tommy is reflecting on all the people in his life and their effect on him. Because Tommy’s fatal flaw is relying too much on other people, and it’s because of that that he can be manipulated so easily. The lyrics all fit so well I fricking love it!!!
The beginning: all the people in Tommy’s life and what they would want him to do/what they’d remind him. EACH LINE FITS EACH CHARACTER SO WELL FLBDJDKSBKSH
Tubbo: Tommy and Tubbo have been bros this whole time, which is why Tubbo exiling Tommy cut so deep. Tubbo betrayed Tommy in the worst way possible. But can Tommy really bring himself to leave him?
Wilbur: Wilbur doesn’t care the way Tommy does. His descent into madness, betrayal of L’Manburg, and consequential death ended out well for him - now he’s Ghostbur. He doesn’t remember anything bad and is no longer in pain. He already ended it all, and now he’s happy (or so he seems). Can Tommy end his own pain by doing the same thing? After all, it’s pointless to resist. (Absolutely LOVE the flashing from Wilbur to Dream.)
Techno: Techno can pinpoint what Tommy feels because he’s been there. He’s been faced with this choice before, and he’s fighting. “Don’t listen to the lies. You deserve better. Don’t sell yourself short. See life as a worthy opponent.”
The strings: I think these represent all the ties Tommy has to the people in his life. Even though he’s the protagonist, he’s let other people manipulate him, control him, and essentially puppeteer him for their own ends. He’s tied himself to so many others so tightly for so long that now he’s tied up. His life isn’t his own. Now he’s cutting the strings, the mental and emotional ties that let other people use his life for their own ends. He’s taking control of his own life, no strings attached.
In addition, I think the scissors hovering over the strings are from the Greek myth about people’s lives being represented by strings and how, when the string was cut, the life the string represented ended and the person died. So the scissors symbolize Tommy’s debating whether or not to jump. So not only is Tommy cutting the ties that let other people control him, but he’s also dying to his old life. Before he was living the life others puppeteered for him. Now he’s living his own.
All the voices, all the people he’s known, the people he’s loved, the people he hates, people who have helped him and people who have betrayed him, friends and family, they all come into play, arguing over each other as Tommy struggles with himself. And Tommy makes a choice.
He’s done living in other people’s lives. Now he’s making his own.

Another thing, this probably isn't the point of it, but the fact that tuffs of grass and flowers grew along the plain dirt he had placed to build his tower-to me, that says he stood there for so long, debating and debating, balancing the consequences and benefits. As someone whose found herself in that very position, it feels so real, like a punch in the gut. When I saw it all I could think was "oh, tommy..."

Edit: oh my goodness this is amazing!! The fact you used the first “Achilles, jump now” with Wilbur because of the pain he caused when he became villainous and destroyed L’manberg, and showed the repercussions of having the person you look up to betray you. But the fact that you also showed Wilburs love for him (especially now that he’s Ghostbur) is just *chefs kiss*. The complicated feelings that come with that are so well expressed! The fact that Dreams manipulation has its main role by making Tommy first see the bad side of each of his loved ones, followed by the care and true love they show for him is amazing! AND THEN THE LAST MESSAGE IS SO SWEET AND SO NEEDED ESPECIALLY THIS YEAR! What an absolute masterpiece! I originally came to your channel through Instagram and I can’t wait to see more!
Theroy: The moral of the entire story of Tommy's arc (also fantastic job on animating this!) is that no matter where you are in life, when your world has just turned upside down (exiled by your best friend, being mocked at, manipulation, etc.) you can still get back up and keep moving forward because that's what -humans- heroes do
"Can you hear me Achilles? I'm talking to you" that one line.. that one line always hits me hard the fact that the person who is singing going out of their way to say YOU I am talking to YOU I am telling YOU not to jump and the thought of it always makes me think..

I really needed the end screen.
As someone who has struggled a L O T with suicidal ideation and mental health problems, this arc was tough for me to watch, especially as I'm not even two years free of being in a hospital.
The fact that the acting was so good that I *understood* Tommy's character through the time in exile. He did an amazing job showcasing how depression really is. It's not someone who is always sad, it is a person with hopelessness and depression at their core, who feels happy for long and short periods of time before going back to that core.
The fact that, through Tommy's portrayal of (basically me early 2019 lmao) a clinically depressed and traumatized teen, I realized things that I had never know before about me, my depression and trauma, where is stems from, and where my depressive episodes stem from, is amazing.
Idk this feels weird to say because we are basically the game age, but I'm really proud of him and how well he did the 2nd (or whatever number we were on) arc.

I can’t stop watching this because
1: It’s very good and captures his depression arc und redemption arc amazingly
2: It has so many symbols to past reasons that would push him over the edge.
In the moment where there are two voices singing and Willbur, tubbo, techno and Philza were circling around Tommy (around 4:30 ) . An attention to detail is that at first it fazes to the personas that left a negative impact on him, ( AKA the ‘insane’ Willbur and president tubbo, I don’t really know about techno considering he doesn’t really change but I assume it’s because in the later vers he’s in his Antarctic empire clothes Idk)
The fact that he sees the “anti-versions” or the corrupted ( in Tommy’s eyes) of his loved ones shows us that it’s the first thing he often thinks about, it’s not necessarily the voice telling him to jump down, but to me it seems like the in between, the purgatory. Reflecting on who he had wronged and have been wronged by. which gets interrupted by the personification of dream, the voice telling him it’s his time.
I just really like how when it fazes back to them from dream, it’s not even their current forms (aka ghostbur or just president tubbo again) it’s Tommy’s favourite memory, which is so bittersweet because Tommy will never have that back again, and yet that is what helps him get down SAFELY.
I might be relaying information that is obvious but I wanted to call these details out because MY GOD THE ARTIST IS AMAZING LIKE WOW.

I like the way you visualise how Tommy’s distrust in everyone grows. He feels caught in an ever-growing web of lies (the red strings) and feels like everyone he once called friends has used him or turned on him. Over and over again he’s raised on a pedestal only to be brought crashing down to Earth by the the same people. Now, he’s about to do the same. But this time it’s on his own terms
I love how when Tommy landed in the water he was content with death, then he was like, "oh, wait. I still want to live," so he went and created a new meaning for his life free from Dream. This song is great too, and it really fits the current script (I can't think of the word right now) for the SMP. I just can't believe how amazing this animation was.

I LOVE THIS SO MUCH!! I can't draw but I did an animatic concept for this song a while back (outlining who's speaking when and some blocking) and seeing this made me very happy, as it was made very much how I would've wanted my version made. The primary difference was that the dark and light sides arguing weren't characters in my version, more pure metaphors of the inner darkness and light, but on the "Do you hear me, Achilles? I'm talking to you" they merged into Ranboo and it is revealed that everyone else Tommy was seeing (Techno, Tubbo, Wilbur, and Phil) were figments of his imagination and Ranboo was the one who came.
All that said, I really enjoy this take, truly one of my favorite Dream Smp animatics. I just wanted to talk about differences from my own concept as this got me thinking about it, not that this isn't absolutely amazing as is!!

I've always loved this song, and was worried if I wanted to see it used in a Dream SMP context... However... Holy heck, this was amazing! I'm really surprised how well the song actually fit to this part of Tommy's arc. I was ready while watching, to write a comment saying 'my only complaint would be that the pessimistic voice was Wilbur and not Dream', then it started flashing between Dream and, not just Wilbur but, *all* of his friends... And I was like 'THAT'S GENIUS!'. Not only does it show how it was Dream who pushed him to the edge by lying to his friends and to him, but it shows how what pushed him was thinking all of these negative thought/taunts were what his friends were thinking of him, when really it was all just Dream. It seems self explanatory when I write it out, however, it's actually really clever to manage to tell all that with such a small detail. Using Wilbur as the first and main 'disguise' for the voice is very logical too. Not only because he lost his mind at the end, but because he was and to some extent still is with Ghostbur his most trusted figure. Not the same as Tubbo who's been with Tommy all this time, Wilbur was someone to look up to, someone to guide him, the first person to put faith in him. So out of all the people he knew, imagining those words coming from Wilbur, would be the most hurtful. You could counter that it'd hurt more from Tubbo, but I don't think so. Tubbo and Tommy were long time friends, they were on equal terms. It'd hurt to be told that by someone you consider at equal sure. But you can push past it, since it's just the opinion of someone who's at your own level. Hearing it from someone like Wilbur however, almost like a father figure and idol, is much more devastating.
Some other things I liked. First of, the red strings filling the screen with the music, during times of only instrumentals. Even though it was abstract, it was something that connected to the story the animation was telling (I'm assuming Dreams Web of lies, since it falls apart once he starts talking himself out of it), but it gave something interesting to look at on screen while there was no lyrics to animate!
Finally, I loved your decision to make the second positive voice that's trying to reassure Achilles in the song, to be Tommy himself in the animation. I always find that part of the song to be really powerful and emotional, the two inner voices battling to get Achilles to keep going or give up. However, by changing the dynamic to Tommy arguing with his own inner doubts, it gives him more agency, and makes the moment where he chooses to land in the water, so much more powerful. He did that himself, he saved himself, no one passively saved him. He got himself out of it.
im crying so hard for so many reasons but especially because of techno and tommy's friendship being torn apart.....the end just crushes me because i know what happens next
i love how you can see the changes he went through, its not one thing but so many, the tent, logstshiere, compasses, to discs, not one thing defines his choices even though he acts like it

This is such a good song for the exile/depressed arc and your work is my personal favourite. This is my literal favorite song and I'm so glad someone finally made it into an animatic. This was so well done and left me absolutely speechless.
NOT SURE IF THIS IS ENTIRELY RIGHT BUT WHAT THE HECK ALSO AMAZING AND BEAUTIFUL ANIMATIC!!!!!!! Achilles come down would be referring to Tommy and asking him to do something for them. Showing that Tommy is vulnerable and can be easily manipulated by those he thinks he can trust. The animatic also tells us along with the song being in Tommy's POV that he is trying to find a reason to live because a lot of the things he thought he had turned out to be fake, it shows the compass revealing that the only thing more important to Tommy than the disks is Tubbo. "the most dangerous things to love" also proving that Tommy is easily manipulated by his loved ones, showing red strings symbolizing he is like a puppet being told what to do and also showing Tubbo because he is the one who betrayed and exiled him proving that even though he loves Tubbo, he still wronged him. A little bit before the 5 minute mark it shows Dream and Tommy's friends trying to tell him not to end his life meanwhile Dream is telling to him to do, then it says, "no one asked your opinion" telling us that Tommy is finally taking a stance and is ready to be truly independent and not have to rely on others, because in some of the exile streams Tommy was worried about what Dream would think of him. Near the end at 6:25 it says again "the most dangerous things to love" and it shows his friends and people he trusts and the red strings being cut. Telling us that Tommy is not willing to be a puppet anymore- not willing to be used by others, and that even though he still has his friends and love ones he will not be deceived and will carve his own path, without the opinion of others weighing him down.
SO CLOSE, you’re in the general range, just not hitting the exact point

Since Tommy is like Theseus, I feel as though Technoblade would be Achilles. Being a feared, almost invincible, warrior with his main weakness being his love for Phil, Wilbur(and Ghostbur), Tommy and Carl (his horse). Especially with recent actions, it feels as though Techno still cares about Tommy (despite killing him constantly during yesterday's stream) because of how calmly he let Tommy walk away and didn't fight him for his axe back.
Techno is honestly such an interesting character as I could see him having an arc of paranoia or depression where he is terrified of Phil betraying him and Ranboo or one of complete chaos, taking Tubbo's and Tommy's final lives with no mercy. I expect it to be the latter since he is the Blood God lmao.

OMGOSH I LOVE THE BIT LIKE FROM 4:30, the thing with Wilbur and dream, and then techno and phill and dream, THATS SOOOO GOOODDD. I alsoo loved the part with the red strings that came back everytime, that was so cool made! Also while i am watching te last minutes, the background colour changes are sooo good too! And then the ending OMGOSH THIS IS SO FRICKKING GOOD!!

I would personally think the meaning is that this is what Tommy is feeling, isolated and alone and Wilbur telling him to jump is what he feels what Wilbur was using him for, just a pawn and was meaningless to him.

Ok but you all have to appreciate how tommy threw wilbur's coat. I interpret that as him abandoning that mentality that wilbur instilled in him, and its just. Very good. Very well drawn and this is just 10/10

I love the small details, like switching the discs with the compass, the blowing up of TNRET, Tommy hiding supplies, and the cutting of the strings. The strings gathering overtime was a clever touch as well, as manipulation is a slow process. Wonderful work on the frame compositions and details such as those. Great job!

Man i saw the wilbur come down animatics and it seemed like those fit wilbur so well but now it fits tommy even better

I really liked the note that you added at the end of the animatic. It’s a really thoughtful touch, especially when so many of the lyrics are as dark as they are.

Honestly.
Everyone’s making animatics about Tommy to this song while I don’t see a single one about tubbo being willing to die “this is checkmate”, Tommy’s looking for a way out “we can run to the portal”, and dream is just waiting and “playing with his food.” I mean the lyrics are so fitting: “So jump and I’m jumping, since there is no me without you” and “you will not be more than a -rat- pawn in the gutter (so much more than a -rat- pawn)”
When it came to Wilbur, Tubbo, Philza, Techno flashing and showing Dream it really showed me that Dream is present within the words of each of them almost like a shadow. Especially for this song there are two people talking at once. One starts of by telling Tommy to jump while the other half way through comes in saying "Don't listen" and at that moment the expression of each person except Dream during the flashes change to worry or sadness. An example is Wilbur. He was shown with a great smile and just going mad only to reveal Dream being the influence as they told him to jump while at the last second when Wilbur reappeared he was in his uniform with a face of worry being the second voice saying "Don't listen Achilles" or in this case, "Don't listen Tommy" I found it quite interesting and loved the video since the song and the events with Tommy and the SMP have intertwined so perfectly. Truely amazing work and artistic skills!!!

I wasn't exactly caught up with the lore when I first watched this, but now having seen all the things that led up to it and how it would continue going forward? God it hurts even more but it's also so much more fun to watch
