IF it goes to Orlando instead of to Atlanta's hub (it's a route that benefits Disney /Seaworld and other tourist spots) as I suggested b4 as a way to get the citizens out of harms way (fast) than it's a waste of taxpayers money.
Do people want a faster way to the tourist spots OR a faster way out of the way of a hurricane..?

When comparing car cost with taking the train, you forget tolls for the Turnpike, which are easily $18 one way. You can avoid tolls by taking US-192 and I-95, but then it will be a much longer drive than 4 hours.

In my opimion, Brightline needs to make the most economical route from Orlando to Tampa. Disney can pay for their offshoot from Brightline with their own trains. Universal can do the same. Also in the works is an offshoot to Port Canaveral, which now is the busiest cruise port IN THE WORLD. Let these compaies pay their own way, and piggyback off the existing and proposed lines.

My bet is that with the Orlando snafu now bogging down the connection to TAMPA!... Brightline will do the Cocoa Station sooner than planned just in order to keep things rolling while all of these parties continue to bicker and infight over Orlando.
"Space Coast" absolutely makes perfect sense for a new stop at a midpoint between West Palm Beach and Orlando Airport. There are a ton of people who would take advantage of a Cocoa Station for NASA/Space X launces, Kennedy Space Centre, Cocoa Beach.. AND... of course.. Port Canaveral for all of the Cruise Ship lines departing and stopping in it.
I am convinced a Cocoa Station will happen within a couple of years at most. Brightline has already purchased large chunks of land in and around the area there.

PLUS: the solution that you espouse is solid logic!
Brightline gets what they want, the path of least resistance and, more importantly for their MO, an high speed route from MCO to Tampa.
Reedy Creek, as an entity, and the Central Florida Tourism Oversight Board get a brilliant boost to their economy and status as a forthright and worthy community! With a major transit hub and the hotels and businesses that inevitably spring up around Transit Hubs!
So the CFTOB looks good, the Governor looks good, Brightline looks good, will get to move forward with their project and will get more passengers.
Heck your suggestion is a Win, Win, Win, Win, Win scenario for everyone involved. Yes even Orlando itself and Universal et al!

A Reedy Creek station is an very interesting proposal, and certainly within the scope of the CFTOD, but not possible until the termination of litigation between the CFTOD and Disney, specifically the state case which deals with the allocation of development credits. Even if the CFTOD used eminent domain to get land for track and station, Disney could sue and delay or stop any land transfer, delaying construction. Disney would definitely have to rent or sell the land to Brightline in order for a Disney station to be a reality. And then the CFTOD would either be the hero or the villain in approving or disapproving the development.

If Brightline were to get close to Universal's Epic Universe and build a station there, I think of two other route possibilities:
    1) Building an end-station and not a through station. So, the trains could backtrack a little bit when going to Tampa and follow the southern alignment initially proposed.
    2) There are transmission lines that go between the convention center and Universal's new park and heads to southwest parallel to I-4. With the power lines realignment, I can see tracks on that route. This way the tracks could bypass the denser area close to I-4 and International Drive, saving money and avoiding most of the construction you mentioned in the video.

If they had not said anything about his "anti-woke" campaign this DeSantis controlled board would never had been created.
Local park workers would not benefit from a high speed rail station which exists to serve the airport and distant cities.
Further, a station at what is herein referred to as Reedy Creek will not serve any 'tourist destinations' without huge infrastructure investments in additional transportation needs. It is located at the far southwest end of the I-4 corridor with heavy development separating it from the other parks. And, the property is owned by Disney, good luck buying it. The West Palm - Orlando segment needs 2 or 3 added stops: Cocoa, Melbourne & Ft. Pierce. Especially Cocoa, for tourist access to NASA facilities. Your revised Reedy Creek station for Brightline seems logical, but Sunrail's East - West routing would need to be factored in as well.

Great video. I like your idea and think to add to it, make the station leave another platform or track space available to let Sunrail come to the station on their own line someday. They would have a station to connect to, and by that time, Disney would likely create a transportation flow into their property from the station. Employees and local visitors would have a means to access the parks via train.

Spirit flight from FLL to Orlando is $45. So cost wise to Fort Lauderdale, cost and time is less airport to airport. However, with 16 trains a day, the flexibility of being able to catch a train nearly 24x7,no TSA, no cost lugage, and the comfort of the train is a nice tradeoff. I will definitely be trying it,just to say I hit 130mph on a train. And if I have delayed flight/weather issues,it gives some options.

Fantastic video! One quick note about comparing the cost to travel in a car versus the train: fuel is just one of many expenses. Depreciation and maintenance actually constitute larger expenses than fuel. All things considered, on average, it costs about $.50 per mile to drive a car. Therefore, a more realistic comparison of the cost of driving from Miami to Orlando would be $115, versus $79 for one person on the train. So, if you are a family of four, it does make more financial sense to drive, which is probably why the cost was discounted that down to $199, but for a single rider is a no brainer.
