Everyone who is afraid of heights so was I. Trust yourself and your instincts and climb. This part of recruit training is easy if you can wake up enough to listen to what the Drill Instructors are telling you. Staying awake in the classroom is very hard, because the videoed stuff burns you out. I hope this helps a little, I was not special by any means. I was showing this video to instill confidence in my son. 2nd Battalion, Golf Company, Platoon 2077, year 2006. "Want some come get some!"
Our son is currently doing the Confidence Course TODAY. I am filled with joy and pride watching these young men complete this course. What an honor for those recruits to be part of this amazing group of military leaders.
I really hate heights and I am definitely not looking forward to this part of bootcamp but I guess if gotta do it then I gotta do it. Just curious how high are those taller obstacles?
+himynameispuky Full Metal Jacket is based in Parris Island, which is where all poolees born east of the Mississippi and females no matter where born go. Parris Island's rappel tower is significantly smaller, yes.
East coast is for servicemembers who want to own a fancy uniform and work in an office 9 to 5. West Coast is for men who want to be Marines to win wars.
@Kepachodude dont worry about it man...there's so many recruits out there...odds are, you wont even make it this far in the confidence course...if every recruit did every obstacle in the confidence course, you'd be out there all damn day...i was there for the first confidence course, but i had a dental appt the day they did the second part...
yea me too dude.... im freaking 5"3. so i think heights its scary for me, and i think the confidence course is going to be harder for short people like me, cause i think the gap or length between each step for a course is going to be pretty long, so i think for shorter people we have to reach farther or jump to the next step or log....
Damn.. This is my senior year of hs and I plan to enlist after graduation. I'm looking forward to this but the thing is the heights... Real afraid of them since I was a kid haha but if it means earning my marine status, I'll do it. But seriously, fuck heights...
I'm 17. Junior in high school. Called my local recruiter yesterday. I'm qualified, but I can't sit and talk with him till I am a senior. What's your MOS gunna be?
@cheeriomartinez is it enough that once you finish you won't be scared to sky dive? I've always wanted to skydive if I could somehow get over the fear of heights first if that makes sense. How tall is that log tower? 60 feet?
3:09 - 3:15 Drill Instructor Sgt. Woit! I will never forget my kill hats voice! Alpha Co 1010 HONOR platoon Sr Drill Instructor Sgt. Rodriguez, Drill instructor Sgt. Rice (Jay) Best Trio Ever. (Pop-N-Lock) :D
No man don't apologize for anything. What is said is said, and I was not assuming, just simply stating my two cents of what the yelling meant. You just so happened to comment saying you couldn't stand it, and that you would be aggressive towards it. Nothing personal towards you, just my two cents.
@MrMDMA101 It will...not trying to discourage you but there will be times that you'll say to yourself: "What the f*ck am I doing here and why did I volunteer for this?" But one piece of advice I can give you is never give up....yeah, its hard as hell sometimes, but its not impossible...
Do you lack self discipline? You do understand that the DIs job is to either break you, or turn you into a Marine. The only reason he is yelling at you is to make you a better person in the long run. If you can't take the stress of a little yelling, then what are you going to do on the battle field when shit pops off?
They pushed my date back two weeks so its 49 days now, but HOOORAAHH!!! best luck to you my brother we train together nd we die together Marines Til DEATH AND ON!
Did you misinterpret my comment? I never said I was going into the armed forces. I know why they do it, which is why I would never join up. Why would I be on a battlefield if I'm not even in the army? You assumed, and failed. I've never said I don't understand why, I just stated a fact. Please read my comment correctly next time. >_>
I apologize if I come off as a bit rash, but I'm sick and tired of UA-cam users assuming things I never did say. Nothing personal. It just happens all the time and it's starting to get tiring.

I remember those days! Pushing towards fifty year ago now.
I ship out next week and heights scare the shit out of me. Not looking forward to the confidence course at all.
Thomas Harrison And, looks like you're done right about now. How're the heights now?
Thomas Harrison Haha yea how was it?
i think he died
Jose Joachin Not funny.
Oh relax.
Can’t wait to ship out in the summer this year. This looks sooo fun
3rd BN Kilo Company here, but I ship September 17th. Not to fond of heights, but I still find myself looking forward to this.
I leave for boot camp on September 19th and I'm freaking the hell out. I gotta lose 20 pounds in 3 weeks and do 5 pull ups in order to ship out of ABQ
how did it go?
This looks fun but nerve wrecking at first-glance. It really would be a confidence booster if I actually had to go through this.
1:26 LOL HIS VOICE THO
😂😂😂😂😂
Im 16 and im planning on enlisting in the Marines when i get out of high school. Im alittle nervous for boot camp but at the same time i want to go.
I really hate heights and I am definitely not looking forward to this part of bootcamp but I guess if gotta do it then I gotta do it. Just curious how high are those taller obstacles?
about 33 feet, you got your answer after only 10 years
@@altitudeadventures115thanks now he can enlist 😂
That tower's way taller than the one in Full Metal Jacket.

Swore in last month my self lol, my MSG told me the other day "They don't call us the Chair Force for no reason" I died laughing.

That's what I'm worried about
I am 6'3 and I am terrified of the confidence course.
Damn.. This is my senior year of hs and I plan to enlist after graduation. I'm looking forward to this but the thing is the heights... Real afraid of them since I was a kid haha but if it means earning my marine status, I'll do it. But seriously, fuck heights...

39 days! hell yes!
I'm 17. Junior in high school. Called my local recruiter yesterday. I'm qualified, but I can't sit and talk with him till I am a senior. What's your MOS gunna be?
Cant wait!:)
Its not the falling part that scares me.. its the sudden stop at the bottom.

JEWNUTSZ probably not good, he didn’t reply
JEWNUTSZ probably died
UA-cam doesn’t really tel you your being replied to in old comments
Why is Parris Island Stairway to Heaven smaller?
There's no safety mat on the stairway to heaven at parris island, that's probably why.

It sucks thats all you need to know.

We didnt have a cushion for stairway to heaven nor a net for slide for life. 1980. Plt 3048.
This is clearly fake. They don't have this in any Modern Warfares...
