Lane Edwards in his SECOND role in SSD was a character you love to hate, Lester, like Andrea.
You mention inconsistencies like the boy needs a time out and weathering of letters... All major train stations in the country have a mailbox Kelly did not have to give the letter to a stranger.
In the pilot Second Chances it was a nondescript pub/restaurant where postal workers hung out. In the tv series the postal hangout was the MAILBOX GRILLE. There seems to be different sections to it- booths, chair seating, bar area and even sofa chairs ala "Friends". It has a (Y)jukebox as well. At some point during the movies Ramon bought the restaurant. He didn't seem to change the decor much except by adding an area for musicians to play.
BTW every episode and movie have the same disclaimer at the end.

The show was great, Kenny. You and Natasha were really funny and fun! Natasha's insights into the special moments, lines, facial expressions --- the little nuances that make each Signed, Sealed, Delivered show so special were spot on and pointed out the poignancies that make SSD so different and special from any other TV show. The problem with relating the plot of any SSD show is that there are always so many plots running in the story simultaneously. And within each plot, Martha Williamson drops in radical twists that turn that respective plot line completely onto a different path and outcome. That's the power of Martha's stories--- you never see that one coming! She sure makes it hard to relate her stories because she has so much going on at one time. Layer all that over with the nuances and layers of personality that each of the 4 main characters created by the incomparable talent and skill of each of the 4 cast members and the show becomes a very complex challenge to relate and discuss. You two attacked this difficulty with great aplomb. Really great broadcast and I'm already waiting for the next one.
