I was at that show. God, feels like another life time ago. Back then I was just a gamer. Now I make games for a living. Haven't been back to PAX since then, so this brings back some fantastic memories.
I'm so glad I finally played Portal this year. I really regret not playing back when it first came out. I feel like I missed out on something special by not playing it when it was new. Even though 2021 has been a magical year being able to experience these two games for the first time, every time I see a video like this that's dated 2008, that regretful feeling comes over me again. I wonder if this is how Chell felt when she woke up at the beginning of Portal 2 and realized how much time had passed.
The happy audience is the only reason I'm watching a concert version. Concerts are about the experience, if Ijust wanted to hear the song I'd find an album version.
this is such a bar song. It would be awesome to be drunk with a bunch of friends and then all of a sudden sing this awesome song out loud at a bar with everyone sometimes we do that with the GAME OF THRONES theme song
Imagine humming Halo-Theme with a bunch o friends in this bar. You are right, this song is great, and especially for many different voices, always sums up to sth epic.
Loved Felicia Day on Supernatural, then I saw her short with Markiplier, and now I just came across her singing one of my favorite songs in a video game. Can she be any more amazing?
You can clearly still hear it. Performers want you to sing along. They love it, being on stage and having a group sing means you are doing your job as a musician and performer extremely well. It means you've gotten the crowd to become excited and wanted to become involved. You've never heard a song you know all the words to and sun along with it? I'm sure you could hear them fine at the show too, it just the record picking up the people closet to them that causes that sound to drown out Felica.

@spade0014 I think people are talking about the flat, off-note male voice in the left channel. I don't notice it on my crappy speakers at home but hear it loud and clear with headphones. It's hard not to notice and ruins the power of the recording to some extent. The rest of the audience singing is fantastic since you can't distinguish any single voices. Perfect for a song like this, as you said. The one guy just had an unfortunate position relative to the camera.
same here. It seems like she was singing very well but there's a huge amount of crappy singing and noise from others. It seems like just her voice and the guitar help and everything else is bad including Jonathan's voice.
Well, see I couldn't even hear her tbh lol my problem is I can't filter out background noise like most people, so I think to me going to a concert, as awesome as it would be, for me it would just sound like a garbled mess.

+Firewarrior321 You must go to some pretty boring shows if people aren't singing along.
It is disrespectful
Not to mention at least a few were most definitely drunk...
