Hey guys, I hope you enjoy today’s video! I definitely want to create more areas like this on the farm. Also, this was my first attempt at conventional ploughing, I definitely need a bit of practice 😂 I might do a bit this autumn to get a bit more used to it! Happy weekend!
Mine is chocolate chip mate!! As always another awesome video mate. I say it all the time but it is really really good watching you and your dad, you both make me giggle 🤭 keep up the good work and keep your videos coming mate, all the best to you and your family mate. Martin from sunny 🌞 Devon
Another great video nick, love the shots of the tm,seems already like it has been a great purchase and u and ur dad really love it. All the best from Ireland nick.
Maybe see if George Saunders could give you some tips he seems to know how to use an old ford and a dowdeswell plough pretty well. Not far away either in Bedfordshire might be a good collaboration video idea. Got to be the good old cardboard tub of vanilla with a flake and the mini wooden spoon for the best ice cream.
2 heads are better than I 🤔😂😂 don't lose heart with the ploughin there are a lot o good instructional videos on UA-cam give you some tips 👍 Great video 👍
Very funny video nic, doesn't hurt to have something different every now and then 😂 when I was I kid I my favorite ice cream was a strawberry mivi! I'm now almost 50 and I still like a strawberry mivi. Keep up the good work.
You want to get out and see if the plough is level with the ground first and then stand at the back of the plough and see if the plough is at right angles to the ground there the basic checks, theres depth stops on the land wheel aswell you want to check there set right so the rear of the plough can go deep enough
When I was a youngster age 9 to 11, my dad was in the US Air Force stationed at RAF Woodbridge and we lived in government leased housing in Melton. There was an ice cream truck from Tony Bell that used to come through the neighborhood several times a week. I used to like to get the nutty waffle cones and the red, white and blue rocket icy.
Great entertainment as always nick and nicks dad. White chocolate or caramel magnum every time and all year round. I'm a little bit of an ice cream fiend
Great video nick , the John deere looks redundant!! Nice ploughing eventually, see you still have the lorry , are you keeping it ? Dad has good taste in ice cream, nice large 99 with a flake be nice.
@@laytonphillips6667 maybe, but we had Will drill it for us last time with his 3m drill as it’s a fiddly area to navigate the big kit so may ask him again 👍
@@NicksFarm well yes he owes you a favour or two for all the work you done for him !! He's unhappy now I reckon his combines gone so he needs cheering up with a bit of drilling.
Watch Drew's farming life he shows how to set up a plough. Feast for me please. What does the John deere do it doesn't seem to get much work? Is that the Volvo FH parked up for sale now. Shame you haven't done a video on it
The Deere does all the drilling and some cultivation work, carting etc, we haven’t planted any spring crops this year so that’s why it’s not doing so much this side of the summer 👍
TM seems to handle the 4 furrow well even in the solid ground nick, looks good. Brilliant the way you go for an ice cream ha ! Nice and chilled 😆.Did lengthening the top link do the trick?....
More noob questions, how easily do the shear bolts fail, and what is the main cause? Also, are you able to turn at all with a conventional plough (to get around telegraph poles, curved field edges, etc.) or must you go entirely straight?
I don’t know much about farming, but I do know that it’s hard to plough a dead straight furrow, especially a long one. Farmers have ploughing competitions to show off their skills. It takes years of practice... or GPS!
As for shear bolts, they’re designed to shear and is usually caused by hard ground or incorrect setting up of the implement. We do a fair bit of chisel ploughing, and I’m forever changing shear bolts on our headlands where there is more compaction 👍
you can turn but it is a gradual turn ..........shear bolts break when ithe plough hits a large stone ......saves the plough from damage ......are fitted on lots of machines ........the man that pulls our beet brings a box of 50 with every day .......!
@@markmitchellbrown you will see the leg that the bolt breaks on pushed back out of the ground ..........they seldom break unless you are in stony ground ..........then you will need an auto reset plough . the board lifts out of the way when it hits a stone and returns back to work all automaticaly .............

Do you not do any plowing on your farm ?
Only a bit of practice Nick 😆. 🍌comes to mind 😆 Cheat like everyone else, use GPS 👌 😆
One big skill to keep that plough in a straight line.
I'll come do ur plowing for free just because I miss plowing and miss driving my tw 25
@@joshjerrome8227 haven’t done conventional ploughing for a long time on the farm, any cultivations I do I use our chisel plough and 7 leg
Great video and nice to see you giving the plough a run out.👍
crackin vid. your dad is a legend love randomness he brings
I love ploughing and topping it's really satisfying. Also I love the smell of the grass when topping.
Your dad is some craic!
Nothing like a conventional plow being pulled behind a classic tractor, love it!
I quite enjoy a Feast or a Fab. This I enjoyed watching you and Dad setting up the plough and having a laugh together.

I live a few miles from Melton used to love watching the jets from Bent waters and Woodbridge great days
Good effort lads when the plough was polished up the soil was turning over a lot better Wil mid Wales
Yes seemed better after a couple runs and adjustment on top link 👍
🤣 gotta love those random days! Nice to see the Tm on the plough 😁. I don’t think you can beat a mint choc chip ice cream in a cone 🤷♂️
A run of the power Harrow and nobody will know how it was ploughed. 👌👌👌. Great video, needed a laugh.
Went over it yesterday with our Lely, will put it in next video 👍
great video nick nice to see the plough looks the part !!!!!!!
Yeah I think it looks good on the Tm 👍
Magnum by far the best ice cream
Almond magnum! Great vid nick, the TM looks good with the plough on
No happy medium very wet or very dry good vid enjoyed 🚜👍🏴

Great video nick and got to be the crunchie Ice cream lollie
Love a crunchie 👌
You better do a couple of fields ploughing this autumn Nick to practice lol
Yeah I think I will 🙂
I used to love ploughing to see the golden to brown as you travel along with the gulls and lapwings following
Awesome video Nick thanks, the TM looks good with the plough on, salted caramel magnum in the ice cream department for me, stay safe 👍.
Oh yes love a magnum!
Solero.. exotic fruit... or an fruit pastille ice lolly..👍🏻👍🏻🍦
Good choices 👍
Rum and Raisins !!!
Dad needs his own camera/ channel lol , my ice cream of choice is between two 99 flake or a magnum ice lolly .
Cracking video nick. My favourite ice cream has to be a nagnum
Great video nick. I would say solaero is my favourite ice cream
Looks like quite heavy land too.
Yeah we have quite a bit of heavy land here

Lorry going very soon I’m afraid! And no spring crops means the jd is taking it easy this side of the summer! Yeah can’t beat a 99 😆

Got to be a magnum nickelous
I like calipos.
Did you check the tyre pressure before you put the plough on? White magnum
They’d been checked a day or two before, I suppose that could make a difference to how the plough works?
Pralines and cream ice cream
Just a wee bit more speed
Thanks Nick, interesting video as usual. The plough seems to have a set of blades on the top, nowhere near the ground. What are they for?
It’s a reversible plough, you flip it round after each run so use both sides alternately 👍
Interesting! Thanks Nick.
TM seems to handle the 4 furrow well even in the solid ground nick, looks good.
Brilliant the way you go for an ice cream ha ! Nice and chilled 😆.Did lengthening the top link do the trick?....
It did yeah, even though it looks like it was going deeper in the back at the end of the vid it was doing a nice level job 👍
Gotta be a strawberry cornetto for me Nick.
Yes they’re good 😄

Why isn't the bird mix land just left each year? Why cultivate and establish more? Does it not just carry over?
It’s part of a stewardship scheme that requires us to reestablish, can either plant a one year mix or a 2 year 👍
Loop the loop
Don’t lick the shear bolt, quality one liner.
👍
White magnium
Love the 📹 Nick
Live with your old man please. See what he talks about. Maybe the bank card number or Doctors 😆
Planning on it soon 👍👍
Magnum for me pal.
Magnum ice cream
until the boards of the plough shine up its not going to do good ploughing ................
First
i'd hate to be a farmer............. i could never put up with the over-loud shit moozak all day long
Please never plough again 😂😂
