NWA broke up six months later. It was a strategic error of the highest order to diss Ice Cube. Not only was he the group's lyricist, he knew everything there was to know about them.
Right how are they going to diss the person writing their raps😂.
Being in Jr. High when this came out, Cube is sooooooooo much harder than most know. But when you write 80% of NWA lyrics, the comeback is gonna be hard as fukkkk 😮
@@carriel9954he was not the only one writing for the MC Ren was very much as great as Cube with the writing for the group.
@JonseyAndrews true but everybody knew Cube was the superior and primary writer & I mess w Ren
@@carriel9954lmao
Ice Cube did it in one take. He is amazing. Honestly as much as I love Hit'em Up. No Vaseline hit so hard.
That’s how diss tracks should be
He was pissed , probably had more but kept as is. Got his point across for sure.
He FLAYED them on so many levels, and it stuck. Dre's still sticking to producing.
Hit Em Up is one of the most disrespectful for sure but its honestly not even a top 10 diss track in terms of lyrical display.
@@Calilou52 ur tripping
For the folks who didn't follow this battle in real-time, Ice Cube used to write all of Eazy-E's lyrics when he was in NWA. Cube wasn't getting paid so he left and started his own label, hooked up with Public Enemy and they hooked him up with production. In 1990 NWA released a whole album that was mostly full of Ice Cube disses (100 Miles & Running). In 1991, Cube released "Death Certificate"; this was the only song that directly referenced NWA on the whole album. He even starts it with "I think I forgot something...", like one of the greatest diss tracks ever was an afterthought LOFL.
Man he tore Eazy down in this rip. RIP Eric Wright
He didn’t write all of the songs ten doc was writing yeah he wrote a good bit but not all
@@kaymondgibson5494He was their best lyricist and wrote their most well known songs, I think that’s the point
Ice cube is absolutely incredible.
Very few people can write the way he can.
He is gifted
Cube is easily in the top 10 of greatest rappers ever
Do you really think so? Cube was good, but in my opinion I wouldn’t put him in my top 10. Cube just recognized Eminem as a Goat. Respect
Not even close but here is hip hop legend shit
Debatable
Nope
Debatable, but yes.. This was the best diss ever made. Over Hit Em Up.
Yall are trippin lol cube is a LEGEND. You NEED to check out the war and peace albums he put out. Every single track is iconic. It's one of the greatest rap album of all time. Specifically the war album. He also wrote the lyrics and created everyone's personas in nwa.
They too young to comprehend
Bro, they had never even heard of Nate Dogg or DJ Premier until they started this channel.
@@deanthomson2713 sad
If y'all on that ice cube..Check out Dr. Frankenstein..
There are a lot better ice cube albums than war and peace.
As an old dude, I can’t overstate the impact of this song at the time.
NWA went into the “bargain bin” overnight.
We kept the NWA cds/tapes in our collection but never played the music in public lol.
thats crazy
How shallow. You didn't know what you liked musically?
really we used bump NWA all the time, but no one can understand how NWA changed things when they came out, all this stuff is so weired to me , my niece is the same way as these reactors people do not really remember the 80s because they were not there for them .
still not better than real muthaphuckkin G’s lol ts destroyed dre.
when ice cube left nwa, they were all bitter for many reasons, 1) because they were all homies, grew up together, they thought it was an act of disrespect to leave when they were finally making money, but ice cube knew Jerry was ripping them off, and Easy was simply all about the money. Cube was literally writing almost all the lyrics to all the songs for every person in the group, with exception to Ren who wrote alot of his own lyrics. 2) Cube knew and tried to tell them multiple times they were being shit on by Management, but again, Easy was all about that money and didnt wanna hear it. 3) this is when the insults started to fly in songs, Easy and them started it by calling out Ice Cube on multiple songs. they shouldnt have done that because Cube went HAMSANDWICH on their asses, completely destroying them in this song. all that being said, after Easy died it kinda brought them back together as friends, and im very glad today they are all cool and its all the past.........NWA is the greatest rap group ever assembled in my opinion.
They were back together before he died they was about to bring back NWA but obviously eazy got aids and died a month later while on Life support and they didn’t really growled up together cube knew Dre since he was a teen
Ice Cube is a LEGEND definitely check out some of his earlier stuff from his Death Certificate and Lethal Injection Albums.
The Lethal Injection album was legendary. You could tell just by the intro track is was going to go hard.
Don't forget The Predator
@@siphokuhlelanga6377 Oh yes can't forget that one either. He had album after album come out in such a short time.
@@siphokuhlelanga6377 damn I forgot that one👍
@@entertainmentforall6609 straight up West Side Funk shit, George Clinton and Cube, hell of a combo 🔥
I still feel sorry for the new generation. 10 years ago I was talking to a 20 year old who would never heard any of the stuff but it was popping up on his Pandora and he would come to me saying have you ever heard this and I would quote it bar for bar word for word and even like damn
yeah he is younger he would discover it much later than you did
Shyne -bury judas is the greatest diss track of all time. Shyne disses The Game.
Yeah time is a thing. Gonna take a wild guess and say there are some famous older songs and people you don't know about either.
Bro you realize every generation has said something like this
I feel sorry for the old generation, they can never appreciate all the good music we have now.
When you diss N.W.A. and N.W.A. have no come back, you’ve nailed the greatest diss track ever and every other diss track is looking up to this track.
This is considered the best diss rap song (On the same level as Hit Em Up)
Cube's lyrics and FLOW are brutal.
His discography is very reach, at least 20 must hear songs every hip hop fan should know.
And I'm from Eastern Europe.
real muthaphuckkin Gs is better as a diss
In my humble opinion. Ice cube one of the OG MCs. Def top tier and in my top 10.
OG just means original... So saying 'in my opinion' makes little sense, as he either is an original MC or he isn't...
@@davidvaughn9 mane You arguing semantics. How about this. Cubes an original MC and one of the elite MCs of all time. Because he was very influential. He wrote most NWAs material. And his solo career speaks for itself.
He's in my Top 5. Cube altered the landscape of West Coast Hip Hop.
The benedict arnold bar is still insane today
💯
Ice Cube is not only a legend he also has the the best diss song in Hip Hop.
EXACTLY. "No Vaseline"- best dis song EVER.
Ice Cube singlehandedly took out NWA and the manager too.
It's amazing people are still hearing this for the first time.
Ice Cube one of the greatest rappers ever. Damn near started gangsta rap genre
Will Smith and DJ Jazzy Jeff actually received the very first Grammy in the rap/hip hop category!
“He’s the DJ and I’m the Rapper” was one of the first cassettes I ever owned. I think I got it from my cousin. “Brand New Funk” was my shit
@@slumpjones Slept on song, Brand New Funk. Showed that he really was a MC.
Facts DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince!!
Over n.w.a straight outta Compton just goes to show the Grammy Awards are trash
Will smith sucks
You gotta recognize - Cube wrote most of NWA’s lyrics. He’s the man. Period. Just like Dre is the man on the beats.
I wish Dre and Cube would do an album together. That’d be THE SHIZZNIT. No doubt.
Haha, that just brought me back "SHIZZNIT"
THIS RAP IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN U SAY OUT LOUD WHAT U BEEN THINKING!!!! 😁😁😁WHAT A FLOW!!!!! 🧡💛
Even this old white man knows that Cube was straight fire. Hell, his music taught me things I would never see where I grew up. More importantly, it taught me that no matter what I learned, I couldn't truly know unless I lived that life.
Mostly tho, my first appreciation of rap mostly came from three guys that this channel knows as actors... Ice Cube, Ice T, and LL Cool J. (That door got opened when I first heard Beastie Boys and went looking for more rap music.) Cube was perfect at the time because I was a teenager learning drums, and his music was heavy on drums with a "don't give a fuck" attitude. So it didn't matter if I knew everything he was talking about...it was the aggressive music I didn't know I needed.
Ice Cube's first album AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted was produced by Public Enemy's legendary Bomb Squad. Thats why the beats was on point and so aggressive
OMG The Beastie Boys, YESSSSSS
President of the USA put this 12 year old Canadian girl onto NWA in 1988. If the President never made that speech they would have never made the news in Canada and I might not have found the genre for a few more years.
Ice Cube didn't live the life he rapped about though. Also your race isn't relevant.
To give some context to those of you that may not know, the intro was actually soundbites off of an NWA song they released to Diss Ice Cube.. Which is dope with how it sets up Cube's first line..
Not all the bits there was dope man a bitch iz a bitch and some other I can’t remember the name of
Much respect to you young brothers making a channel staying out of trouble
Dudes I was 11 years old when this song came out. I barely knew about a lot of hip hop being from Oklahoma. Knew who Ice Cube was because movies. But when I heard No Vaseline, it was the first rap song I ever memorized. And did my best to hide from my parents. I still jam this song at 42 years old on my way to work lol
Mate, I'm scotland and the same age, and I was all over the hip hop scene from the age of 9. How old you have missed it staying on the same continent?
@@davidrowan3853 reread what I wrote. I said I “barely knew” about a lot of hip hop. But I did know some
When i was 11, my best friend's Parents gave him whatever he wanted. He had exquisite taste. Playboy magazines, NWA tapes, 2 live crew, etc. I think they liked him being able to impress his friends. It worked, but i still went home for birthdays and Christmas.
Me too... I listened to "Straight Outta Compton" album when I was 10 and it ruined my life...in a good way...
I can not believe how old I am. These dudes don't know what a master of lyrics Cube was. And bro did not know Cube or Will Smith were rappers. DAMN
When I first heard Pacs T.H.U.G. L.I.F.E. album and Cube ripped 2 verses I knew he was a legit lyricist.
Yeah... It depends on what your parents listen to. My kids are in their 30s and they know about Cube. I stood in line to get this tape. Years and years ago. Gotta keep the real ones alive.
love to to see the youth genna researching and listening to so called ole school music ,, Love it!!!!!
My absolute favorite rapper. Great voice and lyrical flow with great music picks.
Mad Love to you guys and your reactions videos. I understand most of you guys grew up with Cube as an actor and that's cool but remember one thing.... he is a Rap legend and will always be considered a monster behind the mic. You guys can check out other tracks from him like "Wicked", "Natural Born Killaz" featuring Dr. Dre, "Ghetto Vet" featuring Mack 10, "The World is Mine", or "Friday".....etc. Cube is a Legend 🔥 🐐, without him, than you can do away with a good percentage of Rappers that we're inspired by his tone, force, rhyme skill, and aggressiveness behind the mic 🎤 🐐🔥💯
It is hilarious seeing people who know Cube and Will as actors instead of Rappers. And yes Summertime is a must.
I love Ice Cube! Thank you! Much ❤
I'm glad to see that some of these youngsta's iz doin they homework 💯🤟🏾💯
If you want to see Will Smith when he was actually rapping, watch Fresh Prince & Jazzy Jeff - Jeff Waz On The Beat Box Live 1989. Will goes in on the 3rd verse.
I was lucky enough to see them in the 80s along with kidnplay
This is the first song I ever heard when I started to listen to 90s hip hop I was only 10, I’m 25 now And the rest is history! 90s and early 2000s hip hop for the win💪🏼
Great reaction!
You do know rap started in the 70's don't you?
Cube, BIG, PAC, Wu, EM, Snoop, etc. I don’t think we get though the 80s,90s without them. Always fun to watch the next generation react to our music. Long way from my moms listening to Al Green😂
Snoop ain’t on that level
There like adults they were probably babies when these music came out so they were still there
Ice Cube True O.G. !! Other rappers wish they could have come up with No Vaseline !! 🤘
One of my absolute favorite songs!
Finally something slow enough for the T.I. Lookin dude. He definitely rode the short bus to school!
Blows me away this is the first time you've heard no vas, im a 50yo New Zealander and i grew up on this. Love all your reactions, keep up the good mahi.
GOTTA HEAR ICE CUBES U KNOW HOW WE DO IT ANOTHER DOPE SONG
Imagine hearing it when it first came out... I was in the 5th grade an it was playing everywhere here in SoCal EVERYWHERE !!! It was even funnier when it came out 💯
Ice cube is a legend
Listen, I’m a white guy and I hated Jerry Heller. He screwed that group over again and again. He broke up one of the greatest groups to ever record. NWA was absolutely incredible!!!
Ice Cube was the REALEST! fr... And what he said about the manager is and was COMMON when it came to our musicians in Hollyweird. The realest one in your friend bunch is the young man with the Izod shirt on. Do great thing young man and always keep it real! peace.
Gangsta rap made me do it - ice cube
He's a legend
LOVE HIM and LOVE this SONG. I listen to it LOUD any time I have to go anywhere where I know someone doesn't like me, or when I was working with a coach I hated. It would pump up with a ready "fuck you" if anyone messed with me. This song is RAW.
Just found y'all videos. It's crazy that y'all have never heard these legends and classics.
First time listening to him. I'm now a fan.
RESPECT DUE TO CUBE, THIS WAS MAD FIRE 🔥🔥🔥. ONE OF THE GREATEST, HOWEVER, IT WASN'T GREATER THAN ETHER OR THE BRIDGE IS OVER.
I saw Cube live on Saturday. He performed this song up until a certain point. Perfectly actually, before it got real dirty about Eazy E. I thought it was total class the way he did it.
Easily one of the top 10 shows I've been to.
You dudes crushing it 🤘
You guys are a classic! Thanks for the vid.
You young fella have me crackin up. Do y'all know what a B-210 is? Keep up the good work. This is funny. Damn, I'm old.
Ice Cube wrote most the rhymes that the original NWA album performed. Some of lines in the song are references to old NWA songs… this is the greatest diss tape. Never have dinner with the President, is because Easy E was invited to the White House with George HW Bush.
Y'all gotta know that Cube wrote this song as his first and last diss track to NWA. He had a full record before this one, without diss tracks, just trying to make his solo career, then NWA got another record out where they called him Benedict Arnold, basically calling him a traitor, that's when he came out with the diss song and just completely annihilated all four of them plus Jerry Caller lmao.
I love seeing young folks listening to rap from my youth. I wish they knew the context....
Facts . No vasalene best ever . Either 2nd . Man im glad yall set it off
Just one example of many as to why the 90s are the Golden Age of Rap!
Know you history this is cube being LEGENDARY. This man wrote all NWA songs and they never been the same after he left
It's the BEST cause of the ENERGY ALONE FROM THE HEART REAL HEART
Y’all are fun
Truly one of the best eras in gangster rap. The 90's are the best. Ice cube is legendary
"Gangster Rap Made me Do It"
"Life"
The list goes on. Ice Cube is a legend in Hip Hop first than he's a an actor
Bird in a hand, good cop bad cop, a good day
‘Friday’ bangs
He wrote Friday. Man is a legend
What about 3 strikes?
brutal. been there on the release. no one would ever know what it was like unless you lived it
This is the greatest period
Most people still forget back in those days, not all rappers wrote their own lyrics. In fact, what is known as ghost writing was and is still heavily prevalent in hip hop. Most of the NWA songs were written by Cube Ren and others. You can tell the difference in their songs writing styles. Easy was never a rapper and generally used Cube's lyrics. As a group it was about success of the group in the beginning. Cube Dre Ren Easy all played crucial roles in the success of NWA glad to have lived through it!
Before he was an actor he was a rap legend. Check your history bros he was the biggest for a while. Check out some of his hits like ‘you know how we do it’ and ‘what can I do’ you’ll see how dope he is
Hey young brothers, keep up the good work. This was the best diss track ever
Ice Cube got so many bangers it's incredible. WSC was dope as shit too. Loved that time
Ice Cube first two solo albums are classic albums. He said nothing bad about NWA after he first left, he just left. NWA dissed him first and he responded with this. This off the second album Death Certificate.
War and peace by ice cube was the rap CD I ever bought. That album is legendary
Ya but the 3rd song "Dr Frankenstein" is the song i''ve ever heard.
Definitely do more Ice Cube.. #1
Greatest Diss Song Ever!!!!Checkout all his early joints. 1st 4 Solo Joints. Plus The Westside Connection Joint!!!Cube Is A Legend. Checkout the song Jackin For Beats too. Banger!!!
Cube is phenomenal.
"Calling me Arnold, but you Be-ne-dict"
😅😅... that was crazy 🤣🤣
I saw Ice Cube when I was like 20 years old at the Mad Monk in Wilmington, NC ...I was first in line, it was a great concert, I'm 50 now lol...oh and I'm white.
Good to see the new Gen enjoying the old school. This when rap was real!
Ice cube is my first favorite rapper when I first started listening to rap on the West Coast I’m from Lynwood/ Compton City
Happy they're open to learning that life existed before they were born.
You need to peep Westside Connection. That's a monster group that Ice Cube was in. They made bangers.
LOVE when Cube, WC, and Mack 10 do their thing!
Ice Cube did what a man does *he put his foot down and took respect when it was not given* #respect
Really they're first time hearing it..Suuuuureee
One of the best diss tracks in history.
The best diss song of all time is the 1985 Chicago Bears Super Bowl Shuffle. They made it like week 4 during the bye week and backed it up. Still considered as one of the most dominating seasons of all time even after talking $hit. Dissed everyone then punched em all in the face
I love you broke it down.
I agree. Hit em up is a close second but this is the greatest diss track!!!
Cube is a legend
I wish I could take this brother back to rap school
I absolutely love Easy E an miss him ❤ I love ice cube as well .
Great diss... love it
I would love for you guys to react to some female rappers from back in the day. MC Lyte ,Monica Love, Queen Latifah, etc.
My brothas, go back and check Cube's albums history. Cube has always been in my top 5, and Death Certificate is my favorite album. His others are classic, but that one was 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥.
❤ N.W.A - Cube & ICE T - Colours ❤ old Skool rapper - late 70’s 80, 90’s Thanks guys
I agree best Dis song ever. Plus no one he dissed responded back.
NWA was held together by ice cube!! He's a GOAT
Y'all need to check out Cubes Album 'Amerikkka's Most Wanted' - some of the hardest shit you'll ever hear!
got listen to ice cubes today it was a good day great song and he had alot other great songs
Wooooooow✊🏽 hello 👋🏽 from Kazakhstan 🇰🇿 Ice Cube forever✊🏽
Cubes first 3 albums might just be the greatest 3 album run in rap history.
Death certificate was my favorite. Next is laugh now cry later, then raw footage.
SSLP - MMLP - TES
Game over
Bruh. Eminem's three run album is legendary. Nothing can beat that.
No it’s not Lmao
@@AlexGamer-df1ig You're entitled to your opinion bro..as am I...and besides, arguing with am Eminem fan about rap music is like playing chess with a pigeon... you'll just knock over all the pieces, shit on the board then strut around as if you've won. ✌️
Yall definitely should check out some early will Smith stuff, he was in a duo called dj jazzy Jeff and the fresh prince, they were an important group, jazzy Jeff is one of the greatest djs of all time and their first album at least is Def a classic, check out the summertime video, and brand new funk would be good too 👌
My favorite ice cube joint. Is the projects
Ice cube!!!! Hell yeahhh!
