Very cool gold find! It's incredible that even after 50 years a man as knowledgeable as Coin Guy can still come across interesting pieces he's never seen before--that means the rest of us DEFINITELY don't need to worry about the coin collecting ever getting boring. As for the new quarter program, I'm personally very excited for it because it serves as a great introduction for my young daughter to start collecting a series. She'll need a bit of patience, but over the next 4 years she and I should be able to collect beautiful, uncirculated examples of each design & mint for only 25 cents each. I'm hoping it provides the fun and sense of accomplishment completing the State Quarter Series gave me as a kid, serving as a gateway collection for bigger and more difficult series she and I can work on in the future.
Those are some pretty neat finds, the biggest question now is: are they real? Those guys were "counterfeited" in Saudi Arabia (with real gold and the correct fineness) not as a way to deceive but as a way to store and move gold that was recognizable. Here's hoping those are good. Thanks for sharing Coin Guy and Spegtacular!
I think these are genuine but tis an interesting idea to counterfeit stuff thats so rare no one has anything to compare it to? Hmmm, you bring a fake eagle into a LCS and 10 seconds in you get the look lol but a ultra rare piece might sell easily from the excitement of a shop owner who thinks they struck gold since you only want melt for this super rare piece...Criminals are genius sometimes they just use their smarts for evil instead of good lol
CONGRATULATIONS! 🎉🎈 Coin Guy on your newest discovered gold from Saudia Arabia!! . WOW 😲! Never saw that before. Thanks for sharing, via you Tube. Nearly Everyday surprises comes along! Adios! LM Cinnamond 🙋
I started collecting love tokens because of Coin Guy. He's awesome Speg! You too... don't want you to feel left out lol. These are always my favorite videos.
Those are so cool. I can't find the video I did on these but they were referred to as Aramco discs. Made in Philadelphia to be used in Saudi Arabia as payment. He has two great examples here! So cool. Yeah, those cook island coins are crazy deceptive
I’ve seen these gold discs for sale in the past, but they were too pricey for my taste. I just read a Coin World article that says counterfeits are common, so be careful.
If real, pretty cool unusual piece of history. Looks like their prices have ticked up a bit over the past couple of years from what I could find on Heritage.
The gold coins are 22k in purety, which is standard for sovereigns. Also on the counterfeit Walker, the sunburst lines do not make it all the way down to the sun. As for the new quarter, I am surprised that the Mint somehow had sufficient time and resources to develop and put out this piece during a period when we were told that there was a nationwide coin shortage going on.
I knew Saudirabia only wanted gold in exchange for gold but I always figured the US just gave them the pre33 gold that people turned in or bars of gold, I never expected the US to mint trade gold for them. I also don't care for the new quarter but will still fill a folder to give me something new to collect, I wish we used the WCTD 2021 obverse design for the new series
I have actually seen one of these Saudi coins on Cull Silver’s channel back in the day. Didn’t go into such detail about the coins but pretty cool all the same.
Fantastic video Speg! Very interesting information from the Coin Guy!! Looking forward to the follow-up video on the gold! Take care, be safe and God bless!
I bought one of those Cook Island gold coins....Thanks for the information. It now will find it's way to my junk box. I think I only paid $50 for it so I'm not out that much. junk is junk. although if it's one twenty fourth of an ounce I guess worth that. It seems like every week I hear of more stuff being counterfeit. and I have had my share of it over the years. Thats why I bought a Sigma to check my silver.
That's cool that he uses a private office to do business in, sometimes I feel very uncomfortable pulling out a couple of thousand dollars in front of other customers in the shop .
EXCELLENT content. There are Conflicting reports on what the gold ARAMCO disks were actually used to pay for. Hard to believe that I knew about these before the coin guy. lol. Wonders never cease to amaze. Now where is the GUESS the GRADE video?? 🤔 The 4 pound looks to be a AU55/58. The 1 pound MS63. Hey Guy, If the 1 pound comes back legit, Can I call Dibs??😁
I was fortunate to buy one of the PCGS graded 4 pound gold rounds from Apmex around 7 or 8 years ago. They are extremely hard to find, and expensive if you can find one. The one I have was graded "Genuine with AU detail and cleaned". I bought it for just a little over spot price at the time, so I didn't care that it was graded as cleaned. I was just happy to get a genuine coin at that price. I'm still happy with the purchase. I would buy more if I could find them.
Speg, when Coin Guy gets those gold coins back from grading, you need to buy them both. It would be a shame to break them up as they are kind of a set. Might blow the budget but that’s a once in a lifetime deal. Sorry, I’m just thinking out loud here.😂
Not an issue breaking up a set...these were never a set. I hope they are real. Like the other guy said many were copied. Best to buy an example of them after they are certified. I'm assuming the coin guy didn't pay a lot over melt and checked the gold content before he closed the deal. Its after hours at the shop now, I'll call in the morning to get my name on the list 🤔 Let's hope they come back genuine from the grading company.
Just a thought but what about an online auction on your show for one of these gold coins with Coin Guy there while it was on and okaying it if his price is met?
I knew about those Saudi rounds from another stacker here on youtube. I forget his name, but he lived in Saudi Arabia and he used to showcase his stuff. He had one of these, I think he referred to it as a button.
They're called Aramco(Arabian American Oil Co.)gold disks. They were made for oil payments to Saudi Arabia after WW2.Aramco paid for the minting and the bullion. In 1952 SAMA(Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency formed and made the first Saudi Sovereigns
I've got a friend that had a collection of Clark and Gruber, territorial, trade bullion. They should be worth 2 -3 times their weight if not more. Pretty rare but small following
Great Video as always, It went so well with my morning coffee. Hopefully Mr. Coin Guy will let you have that big coin for $3000 - $3200 range, if it comes back in AU. 🤞
@spegtacular you have to get one of those gold sovereigns.... I’m sure coin guy will sell it to you lol start saving now!!! Love the video been a sub for atleast two years now and keep up the content I literally watch every video you put out lol
I wonder if hes gonna sell them once they're certified I'm heading there next week hopefully he'll have them to show....I bet its gonna be a pretty big premium on top I'm definitely interested for sure.....spegtacular are you gonna try to purchase one?
LOL that’s not so unusual, try collecting what I specialize in… Magicians Tokens!!!! They’re made of everything from paper to platinum and everything in between!!
The KM 34/32 are both made during the Bretton Woods Conference to decide which currency was going to step up to become the reserve currency of the world. King Abdulaziz bin Saud approved the design to have those made by the US Mint for the Aramco payment of oil leases and denominated in English pounds betting the English would Ascend to reserve currency. As a side note the King of Saudi Arabia was included into the Order of Orange by King George of England in 1937. Aramco at the time was not allowed to own gold in the USA due to the Laws. The Gold came from the US Treasury dept. and you can check the purity against the purity of the Gold coins confiscated during the 1930s. So in fact those Saudi coins are one of the only ways to get ones hands on Gold from the US Gold Reserves. FDR actually skirted the laws to have those coins made. These coins have more history and intrigue stuffed into them than most currencies/coins. For a long time Numatists refused to believe these coins were real or identify them as anything more than a bullion disk even with the currency denomination. The English companies were offered the Oil Leases the Saudis had but I'm unsure if England had the Gold to complete the transaction.
Incredible find, thanks guys appreciate the knowledge now we know if we run across those pieces we know there legit pieces of American 🇺🇸 History! Great Video 👌👊🏼
That's why HE owns a successful shop. No way I'd have spotted that Walking Liberty Half fake, and I've got a few in semi-decent but circulated conditions. I certainly wouldn't hold it against the fellow who sold it to him. I'm sure he sold it in good faith.

Massive symbolism in that new quarter

Think guy said he'd checked the fineness already.
Guy has 50 years in the business and a sigma test machine... he's 👍

Yeah, I have some of these and could never figure out if they were the real Philadelphia Mint versions or Saudi copies. I know they are gold.
CONGRATULATIONS! 🎉🎈

WOW? This is why I watch coin guy & your u-tube.
I finally found a good coin shop about 45 miles away. But it got robbed over the weekend. And is closed indefinitely.
I started collecting love tokens because of Coin Guy. He's awesome Speg! You too... don't want you to feel left out lol. These are always my favorite videos.
Don’t leave me out! 😛
It always excites me to see new pieces of gold.
Oh, and Coin Guy is great too 😃

I love the Saudi gold, I have both pieces in NGC holders. They are called Saudi Arab Pounds.
Wow, those are truly amazing coins with such unique history! Great finds!
I’ve seen these gold discs for sale in the past, but they were too pricey for my taste. I just read a Coin World article that says counterfeits are common, so be careful.

Im surprised he doesn’t wanna do a Heritage auction with them. I would think they would do well there in AU. Great video as always!
He got burnt on a coin recently at Heritage so he is not happy with them
@@SgtMajorUSMC I didn’t know that. Thank you.

Very cool.
Loved the sit down, fun fun and the book

I'm pretty sure it's only 1/42 of an ounce not 1/24. It says it's one tenth of 0.24 gold. 0.24×0.1= 0.024 or 1/42
That's cool that he uses a private office to do business in, sometimes I feel very uncomfortable pulling out a couple of thousand dollars in front of other customers in the shop .
