Every year, a bad team comes out of nowhere and has a good year, I think it will be Indiana? Edit: The story gets even better as Indiana was picked to finish 16th in the Big Ten today... We will see what happens 🤨
As a former player I haven’t been this excited in years, coach Cig looks like the real deal and it’s cool to see the program finally get the support from administration that the current players deserve
Great call! Eight weeks into the season, and with IU at 7-0, some commentators are still unwilling to place IU in the Top Ten. You saw all of this in pre-season.
Honestly, IU's first half of the season is very favorable- FIU, Western Illinois, at UCLA, Charlotte, Maryland and at Northwestern. With as good of a coach as Curt Cignetti is, going 5-1, even 6-0 seems reasonable for IU. Now, the back half of the schedule is gonna be tough- Nebraska, Washington, at MI State, Michigan, at Ohio State, and Purdue- but if you win 5 (or 6) of the first 6, then you only have to win one (or none) of those and you're going bowling, and we know that Coach Cig knows how to win in the post-season. I know how dangerous hope is, but I think it is reasonable to have this year. Best of luck to the Hoosiers.
Seeing him predict we would win the Nebraska and Washington game made me laugh. As an Hoosier no matter how much you tell me we will be good , I’ll never believe you.
I’m optimistic for IU. Watching them the last few seasons they lost a lot of close games with some bad play and coaching so they have more talent than people think. This new staff seems more old school style and I expect a more disciplined team that won’t beat themselves. And like the Covid year, they win some of these close games. The UCLA game will tell us a lot about this team.
I was lucky to have driven the 'Big Red' rig to away games in '92 but the farthest trip was to the Independence Bowl where we lost to Virginia Tech! They gave me a coaches uniform and after unloading I was able to join the team on the sidelines. I remember looking across the field at Coach Joe Paterno in Beaver Stadium at Penn State where the team played well. Coach Bill Mallory would be very pleased to see what is going to happen with the Hoosier team this season. I'm writing this after watching the team in action beating UCLA in the Rose Bowl last night!
I agree with you only because of one person that is Curt Cignetti. Like you said he's wins everywhere he goes. Indiana is always usually below Rutgers, Rutgers are terrible they had a easy schedule last year that's why they went 7-6. I think Indiana will make a bowl game this year.
I remember cheering on the Hoosiers that 2020 covid season and finding out about Micheal Penix back then so it made it easy to cheer for Washington especially seeing Kalen and Penix head to Washington together and have such a successful season last year it would be cool to see this “basketball school” remerge into the football ranks
As a btown local thanks I’ve never really been happy about it football even 3 years ago when we got ranked was still feeling like a fluke. But holy shit you have been right so far is football is here not back we finally are suspects
JMU was already a juggernaut under Mike Houston b4 Coach Cig got there. They just won the Natty in 2016 and 2017 b4 Couch Cig got there. My brother was on the coaching staff. which since the Coach Houston and staff have since moved to ECU, where my brother is the Director of Stength and Conditioning. The role he held at JMU as well under Coach Houston.
As a Purdue fan, I'm obligated to say IU sucks! But I can't deny they could definitely be a sneaky good team this year. Much more intimidating than their basketball program 😂
Three wins in and I think we could be a 9 to 10 win team. The interesting thing is whether we will be able to flip Julian Lewis if we have a year like that. He seems to really like Tino Sunseri.
Good thing this isn’t the past and a new season starts every year. There isn’t some magical curse that keeps IU from winning. It’s simply having the right people at the right time.
Okay I’m at end of video want to comment your new season lookout? 4-0 Michigan st way looks more promising and with all Indiana’s hate and close calls with Ohio it might be the year
IU lost some close games last year because they weren't mentally tough. Coach Cig brings a new attitude and replaced weak players with players more like him. The receivers may be the best group they have had for many years. The OL has been frustrating for years. New people and higher expectations will need to change the effort and accountability of this group . The OL needs a leader and will make or break this team.
Yes everybody has been wrong about Indiana University since day one of 2024. Saying who have they played,to date they " mangled " NEBRASKA. But then Appalachian beat ALABAMA, then ALABAMA beat Georgia. So ok it is who you played.
Spartans are going to be terrible this year as even though they have an amazing coach, they also have 0 offense (they could be the Iowa of this year!) so I think IU wins that rivalry game but they lose to Maryland in my opinion so that would also make them 7-5 in my eyes
No disrespect to FIU but where did you come up with this idea that the FIU roster is way ahead of IU? They are in two entirely different conferences and even the bottom Big Ten squads are going to have better roster strength than schools in a G5 conference. I guess we’ll find out on Aug 31. You coming up for the game? You’ll love the campus.
IU’s non-conference schedule is such a joke, three cupcakes, that they only have to win a few conference games to be bowl eligible. I guess that’s success???
The non-conference schedule is just right for a first year HC in the Big Ten/B18! Success is growth and wins converging. Context is everything but that appears to be lost on you.
They only play 3 non con games. Most sec teams play 3 ooc cupcakes too plus 1 decent or good. They play 4 total ooc. When teams play a 9 game conf schedule I don't have a problem with them play 3 ooc scrubs
Then you haven’t looked into the roster. They have 2 of the top 3 CB’s and DLineman in the big ten. Rourke threw for 3500 yards with only 4 interceptions and missed two full games in 2022, amazing coaching staff. All conference safeties, projected all B1G linebackers. Do your research
Yes they are playing good right now but as they say water is going to find it's level and IU will come back down to earth and I have them finishing either 7-5 or 6-6!
IU is favored in every game on their schedule except OSU AND they only have 3 road games left . This IU Team legitimately can go 8-1 in the B1G and 12-1 overall .
Cig has had good success at JMU....but this is IU--- perennial doormat of the Big 10. Hope springs eternal at IU every fall only to have their hopes dashed. New coach, new players, new system does not equal a winning season in year one. Better get on the Boilermaker bandwagon!
